Just Add Ink #156

Hi there

With Easter not too far away I have a CAS Easter card for you, using the colours from the Just Add Ink #156 colour challenge. These colours were selected by my friend Christine, the queen of colour challenges.  They are a lovely colour combo of bright, subtle and neutral:

JAI56_ColourI rarely use Bashful Blue except for baby cards, but it is a lovely colour and provides a soft background for the bold Raspberry Ripple and Early Espresso.  I have used the Honeycomb embossing folder to create my Easter egg. It was brayered first with Raspberry Ripple ink and I'm pleased with the effect.  The bunny was stamped in Early Espresso and clear embossed for more definition and texture.  The photo unfortunately doesn't do justice to the colours.

For the inside, I have used the Bashful Blue spotted DSP as a background for more doily lace and the floral egg from the (sadly) retired stamp set 'Easter Blossoms'.

A Little Bit Retro

Hi there

The card I have for you today is a bit different from my usual colour choices and a bit retro.  I have used the Just Add Ink #110 sketch challenge and a new stamp set called 'Bright Blossoms' that will be coming in the new Autumn/Winter Mini Catalogue starting on 1 April 2012. Here is the sketch:

This is the card I came up with.  I used one of Stampin' Up!'s Note Cards as it suited the scale of the vase image.  I quite like the bold retro look, although it is somewhat outside my comfort zone.

Just Add Summer...

Hi there

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year and are now able to relax a bit before gearing up for another year. I'm certainly taking the opportunity to catch up on some gardening, sleep and yes, a bit of creative time as well. Commiserations if you have had to go back to work.

What better way to start the year than with a Just Add Ink challenge.  This week is Just Add Summer - what could be more appropriate?  When I think of summer, my thoughts go to the yummy summer fruits that are available and cherries are my favourite. I've pulled out some of the retired 'Summer Picnic' DSP and matched it with Real Red, Old Olive and Whisper White for a bright summery look.

JAI33 - Sketch Challenge

Hi there

Just Add Ink have a fabulous Sketch Challenge this week and this gives me the opportunity to try out the new Greenhouse Gala DSP.  Initially, I have to say I wasn't that keen on this paper until I saw it IRL. Fortunately, most of the matching colours are existing core colours and Certainly Celery works well with it in the absence of the Pear Pizzazz In Color.  I can't wait until we have all the new goodies to play with! This is the sketch:

I decided to turn the sketch vertically, but either way I can see myself using this one again. I have gone with a top folding card for a change in Baja Breeze textured cardstock for the base and the Greenhouse Gala DSP layered on Chocolate Chip and popped up.  I have added some bling with the chocolate Supernova glitter sprinkled onto Sticky Strip to separate the designs.  I love the subtle but sparkly effect and it stays in place really well. Unfortunately, it doesn’t show up very well on the photo.  The image from the ‘Friends Never Fade’ stamp set has been stamped twice, with the flower cut out and popped up.  Here it is, I hope you like it.

Just Add Ink #27 - Sketch Challenge

Hi there

I'm counting down on the remaining days of my holidays and trying to squeeze out as much crafting time as possible. I can't believe how quickly it has gone. I had a fab time on the weekend stamping with friends. I was struck down by a nasty migraine on Sunday which put a dampener on it for me, but it was still lovely to share this time with stamping buddies. I focussed on Christmas cards, but as I have  posted quite a few of those lately I will spare you for a few days!

Today I have a card for the Just Add Ink #27 Sketch Challenge. This is a great sketch which lends itself to lots of possibilities.  I have gone for a clean and bright look this time using the Tart & Tangy stamp set, which reminds me of summer.

There is lots of texture from the Polka Dots embossing folder and the crimper to add interest to the clean images of the fruit, which have been inked direct to the rubber with Stampin' Write markers. The product I've used are listed below.
