Heart of Christmas - More Season of Green & Gold

HOC_Header_2024

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects. I can't believe we are already on week 8 and there are less than 100 days until Christmas, so there is no time to delay starting your holiday season crafting.

Well, after saying a couple of weeks ago that green isn't a go-to colour for me, I have another green and gold for you card this week. There are so many possibilities with the  Season of Green & Gold Suite products and you could easily create all of your holiday cards with a variety of beautiful designs. If you're looking for some inspiration with these products, head to my Season of Green & Gold Suite Pinterest Board. This card was inspired by one made by Susan Campfield a few months ago. I've created a metric size card and worked out my own version of the mechanism inside the card.

The card starts with a Thick Basic White card base in landscape and this time I've used the Old Olive & Mossy Meadow design from the Season of Green & Gold Specialty DSP down the left side with a strip of Gold Foil and then the remaining panel has been embossed with the Dashing Designs 3D Embossing Folder which I'm using for the first time. The sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set was heat embossed in gold and cropped with  the Country Side Corners Dies, along with the Mossy Meadow mat. I added two sprays of the coordinating foliage (mistletoe?) cropped from the paper with a die from the Golden Greenery Dies. I finished with some self-adhesive gold sequins and a bow using the (retired) Satin Edge Ribbon. This is a layout that I've used many times, but it is the inside where things get a little different.

Stampin' Up! Season of Green & Gold Suite | Heart of Christmas | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

On the inside there is a bit of a fancy fold going on, with a a set of Country Side Corners die cuts attached to a flap in the centre of the card. I've decorated the left side with another strip of paper and Gold Foil the same width as the front and lightly added some Old Olive ink to the Basic White die cut with a Blending Brush. On the centre die cut I have another sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set stamped in Mossy Meadow ink with a smaller piece of foliage.

When you turn the centre flap over you have the writing panel. I've decorated the right side in the same way and added the rest of the second foliage die cut that I brushed some Old Olive ink onto. The reverse side of the die cut has the patterned paper adhered to it, but you could leave it plain.

This is another view, showing all of the inside panels.

Heart of Christmas 2024 - Season of Green & Gold

HOC_Header_2024

Hi there

Welcome to the first week of Heart of Christmas for 2024. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects. I cannot believe how fast this year has gone and it's definitely time to start your holiday crafting projects.

This week I an using products from the beautiful Season of Green & Gold Suite that was one of the recent Online Exclusives releases. The only way to do this designer paper justice is to see it in real life. It is really elegant with lovely gold foil accents.

Week_1_Dies

To make it super easy to use the images, there are dies for the 3 foliage images, to help you get creating quickly.

This is the card I made with the Season of Green & Gold Specialty Designer Series Paper and the the coordinating Golden Greenery Dies

This is actually a Pillar Fun Fold card that provides lots of dimension and interest. I've used Very Vanilla for the base and added Gold Foil to the sides of the pillar to coordinate with the gold foil accents in the paper and used 2 of the other designs in the pack. The greeting is from the Greetings of the Season stamp set and I used the coordinating Greetings of the Season Dies that has a great selection of shapes for sentiment labels and tags.

The card does fold flat for posting in a standard medium envelope even with the overlap of the sentiment.

For the inside I have a wide Gold Foil mat and the Very Vanilla writing panel with a narrow border of Garden Green. I finished it with one of the foliage sprays in the corner.

Art With Heart Colour Creations - Summer Splash

Colour_Creations_Blog_Hop

Hi there

I'm joining the ladies from the Art With Heart team this week for the Colour Creations Blog Hop. Every week a colour from the Stampin' Up! Colour Collections is featured to inspire you to get crafty.

Summer_SPlash_Button

The focus colour this week is Summer Splash, which is one of the lovely new 2024-2026 In Colors. This colour is definitely a new favourite and a match made in heaven (IMHO) with Petunia Pop!

Stampin' Up! Unbounded Beauty Suite | Fancy Fold | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I have a simple fun fold card using the Summer Splash and Petunia Pop design from the Unbounded Beauty DSP. These are probably my favourite designs from the pack and the Petunia Pop stripe is the reverse side of the floral, which is both wonderful and terrible depending on the projects you are making, lol.  The card base is Summer Splash and just a standard metric size card, with the extra score line down the centre.

Stampin' Up! Unbounded Beauty Suite | Fancy Fold | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

On the right edge of the inside is a 'stopper' panel that neatly holds the card fold in place. I've added the Petunia Pop striped paper to a strip of Summer Splash card stock and popped it up on Dimensionals and the front panel locks under nicely to hold the fold in place, even when upright. I added the white flowers down the stopper panel, cropped with a die from the Flowers of Beauty Dies with a Petunia Pop Shimmer Gem in the centre of each.

The embellishment sits on a platform that allows it to sit flat and pop out when folded. I heat embossed the birthday greeting from the Unbounded Love stamp set in white and cropped it with one of the Spotlight On Nature Dies.  In the space at the top right I added leaves and foliage cropped with dies from the Unbounded Love Dies and finished with a white flower in the centre.

For the inside, there is a white writing panel and I've stamped the complimentary greeting in Petunia Pop ink and added a strip of the floral paper at the base.

Of course, the card folds flat to go into a standard C6 envelope.  The ladies loved making this fun fold card in my May classes.

Flowering Zinnias Fancy Fold

Hi there

The Flowering Zinnias DSP from the Online Exclusives range has to be 0ne of my favourite paper packs. The colours are simply gorgeous - bright, summery and they make you smile.

In the pack is this fabulous sheet that provides 2 border strips. It would be fabulous as a border on a scrapbook page or of course, cut into card fronts.

Simply_Zinnias_DSP

However, I wanted to use the complete border or most of it at least and this design by Rachel Tessman fitted the bill perfectly.

Stampin' Up! Flowering Zinnias DSP | Twist Corner Tri-Fold Card | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

Rachel has named it the Twist Corner Tri-fold card. It starts in portrait style as you see in the photo above, but morphs into a tri-fold landscape card that displays the beautiful Zinnia border. I've changed up the measurements to be closer to a metric size card and made the message panel a little larger as well. I love that the bright Lemon Lime Twist print on the reverse side is also displayed and I've used it as an accent together with a pop of Berry Burst.

When you open the front panel and turn it to landscape the border starts to unfold. I've used my favourite birthday greeting from the Unbounded Love stamp set and cropped it with the pierced label die from the Unbounded Love Dies and trimmed it with another label cropped from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. The Berry Burst panel on the right has been dry embossed with the cross-hatch design from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders and embellished with a fussy cut Zinnia from another of the sheets. The narrow strip of Lemon Lime Twist print is the piece I cut off the border panel to form the card base, so all 12" (30.5cm) of the border has been used.

The photo above shows the card fully extended. I've added an embossed strip trimmed with Lemon Lime Twist to host the 'Celebrate' cropped from Berry Burst card stock using the Wanted To Say Dies.  The writing panel is trimmed with a Lemon Lime Twist mat and another fussy cut Zinnia. Lots of Brushed Brass Butterflies have been sprinkled around the flowers.

This card has a real 'wow' and the ladies enjoyed making it in our class last week.

Perennial Lavender for Mother's Day

Hi there

This past week was very busy as I prepared for and held the first card class in my new studio on Sunday. It has been a long time (too long) since the last one, as we moved states during the COVID pandemic and then spent well over 12 months renovating the house we purchased and in the process created my craft studio. The long journey has definitely been worth it and I love the space we created. It has had lots of use during this hot summer as a place we can escape to in the afternoon, when the rest of the house gets unbearable. Before we moved I had the smallest upstairs bedroom as my craft room and I was always getting complaints about being anti-social, but now we can share the space! Here is a pic of the room set up for the class:

Today I'm sharing the first of 3 projects we made, which is a Double 'Z' Fold card. It is a great fold for using/showcasing beautiful papers and although straightforward it does have a bit of a 'wow' to it.

Stampin' Up! Double Z Fold with Perennial Lavender Suite | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I chose to use the beautiful Perennial Lavender DSP for a Mother's Day card. I'm pleased that this paper is being carried over to the 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue, so there will be more opportunities to use it. This front-on pic above shows the 'Z' folds, which collapse down to a card that fits into a standard size envelope. I've used the Perennial Postage stamp set for both of the greetings and I love that they can both be used for the front or inside the card. The greeting on the front was cropped with the smallest of the nesting set from the Thoughtful Expressions Dies, which are sadly retiring (but not the stamp set). The butterfly sitting on the greeting from the Paper Butterfly Accents pack was ink blended and coated with Wink of Stella for a lovely sparkle.

Stampin' Up! Double Z Fold with Perennial Lavender Suite | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

This pic shows the card fully open, with the centre panel hosting the pretty Lavender posy. The Lavender sprig was cropped from Lost Lagoon card stock with Adhesive Sheet on the reverse. The Lavender flowers are cropped from Basic White and ink blended with Highland Heather and a touch of Gorgeous Grape. I arranged the die cuts and used the Lost Lagoon sprigs to hold the Lavender flowers in position so they still have some movement. I finished the posy with a double Linen Thread bow.

I added a simple writing panel on the reverse for the message.

I'll be getting this in the post very soon as it takes so long to get from one side of Australia to the other! If you're in the Toowoomba region, please get in touch if you'd like to attend a cardmaking class.
