Cute 3D Card with Little Ladybug

Hi there

I have a bright, fun and super cute card to share, that will brighten up your day.  I was inspired by the card made by Libby Fens and I had to make one of my own (she has kindly included all the dimensions in her blog post). This is one of the easiest 3D fancy fold cards that you could make and it packs such a punch. The Sale-a-bration Host stamp set Little Ladybug is perfect for it. This stamp set is free with a party or personal order over $500, so if you've been keeping your powder dry up to now (wow, you must have strong will power, lol) you still have 3 weeks to take advantage of the Sale-a-bration promotion and earn this cute stamp set. Alternatively, get a few friends together and host an online workshop to pool your orders.

I've changed up the colours with a Balmy Blue base as I thought it worked well with the red ladybirds (we call them ladybirds in Australia) and bright yellow flowers. To add more interest, I have dry embossed the 3 pieces of the base with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. If you want to emboss your base, I recommend that you dry emboss the pieces first and then score them. The card is sitting on the envelope in the photo and I've stamped the flying ladybird in the bottom corner.

You can see the embossing better in this close-up. The ladybirds were coloured with Dark Real Red; Light and Dark Gray Granite for the chest; Light Petal Pink for the face, arms and legs and a tiny amount of Dark Petal Pink for blush on the cheeks. The flowers are coloured in Daffodil Delight; the stems and leaves with Granny Apple Green and centres in Light Soft Suede. I've cropped the images with the coordinating Ladybugs Dies that can be purchased for $50AUD. There are dies for all of the images, (apart from the row of tiny ladybirds), plus there are some extras as well. The greeting is also from the Little Ladybug stamp set and I've cropped it with the stitched label die from the All Dressed Up Dies.

If you were wondering where you write your greeting, then here it is. Because of the fold in the centre, I have created a panel on each side to give plenty of room to write and it also adds body to the base, making it more robust. I've used one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies which was conveniently the perfect size and stamped the cute row of ladybirds at the bottom. The panels have a mat of Granny Apple Green.

The card folds flat and fits easily into a normal C6 envelope.

You can't help but smile when you look at those sweet ladybirds!

Blooming Birthday

Hi there

Today I'm sharing a card that I made for a special friend's birthday a couple of  weeks ago. I used the lovely All That You Are stamp set that has a large floral line image that is fabulous for all types of colouring. I used my favourite Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers, but it would also be lovely water coloured too.

Stampin' Up! All That You Are - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I started by embossing the front of the thick Whisper White card base with the Subtle embossing folder. The image was stamped on a piece of Whisper White that was cut with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits and then coloured with Calypso Coral, Lovely Lipstick, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends. I layered it onto Melon Mambo card stock and then popped up the panel on the card base.

The greeting from the All That You Are stamp set was heat embossed in white on Melon Mambo and then double cut to the size I wanted with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits. I added some rhinestones and a tiny butterfly to finish.

For the inside I die cut a stitched rectangle for the writing panel and then stamped part of the floral image on the side, and the birthday greeting at the bottom. The finished panel was layered onto a Melon Mambo mat.

The good news is that the popular Organdy Ribbon Combo Pack is back while stocks last, so don't miss out on yours, if this is on your wish list. It coordinates beautifully with the Gingham Gala Designer Paper pack, one of my favourites from the Occasions Catalogue.

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty. It's a scorching Sunday here in Melbourne. I'm lucky to be able to escape to some air conditioning in my craft room. I'm taking a break from the feminine, floral creations to go a little bit country this week. My inspiration comes from the project in the photo above, on page 10 of the Sale-a-bation brochure. I was taken with the copper embossing on the copper tin; such a great idea and I would love to try it. As I don't have the copper tins, I've gone with the next best thing - copper embossing on Copper Foil.

Stampin' Up! Home to Roost (Sale-a-bration) - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

It was really difficult getting a good photo that does justice to the copper embossing, with the reflection coming off the foil. I used the Stamparatus and the 'hinge stamping' technique to stamp the grasses in Versamark across the bottom of the Copper Foil and then heat embossed with the lush copper embossing powder.  I was really happy with how it turned out and you need to see it in real life to appreciate the lovely texture that it adds to the foil. You do need to be careful with the Stamparatus magnets on the foil, as it marks very easily. Next time, I would place a small piece of Whisper White card stock underneath the magnet, so that it doesn't scratch the foil when you remove it. Don't forget the embossing buddy before you stamp to prevent stray particles of embossing powder.

The embossed foil was adhered to an Early Espresso card base. The Coastal Cabana and Crushed Curry design from the Tea Room Specialty Designer Paper pack reflected the colours in my rooster and I think it works well with the copper, too. These green tones were everywhere in my country childhood. I adhered the DSP to Coastal Cabana card stock to give it some body and then shaped it into the tag.  I used the long retired Slot Punch to add the opening at the top. A Very Vanilla Lace Doily was added to the right edge and then the embossed Bermuda Bay greeting banner was positioned over the top.

The majestic rooster from the Sale-a-bration Home to Roost stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso ink on Very Vanilla card stock and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. I wanted to preserve the detail in the rooster image and thought that embossing would achieve that. Clear embossing over normal ink is more subtle and is great for water colouring too. Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers were used to colour the rooster and then he was fussy cut and positioned over the banner. The ground and his legs are flat on the banner and then I've popped up the rest of him over the doily.

I've continued the country theme on the inside, using more of the Coastal Cabana DSP as a background to the Very Vanilla stitched rectangle writing panel. I added the off-cut of the doily under the writing panel to balance out the length.  The little vase from the Vibrant Vases stamp set was stamped in Coastal Cabana ink on Coastal Cabana card stock to give more depth to the shading and then cropped with the Vase Builder Punch. The little bunch of flowers was stamped, coloured and fussy cut and positioned under the popped up vase.

I finished off with a bow in the Braided Linen Trim at the top of the tag and a trio of clear epoxy droplets that I coloured with the Bronze Stampin' Blends marker.

Petal Pink Birthday

Hi there

I've been colouring more roses from the Tea Together stamp set, but this time using the Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers for a different look. I chose Petal Pink to coordinate with the beautiful Petal Pink Vellum from the Floral Romance Speciality Designer Paper.

I've covered the entire front of my Whisper White card base with the vellum. My preferred method is to use a sponge to lightly dab on a scant amount of Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I put a squiggle of glue onto the Silicone Mat and then pick up a little with the sponge and dab it around the edges. Lightly press the vellum onto the card base for an invisible finish.

I've used one of the new Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies to cut the centre panel and added some extra interest with the lovely floral embossing die from the Needlepoint Elements Framelits Dies in opposite corners. This provides a background to my Petal Pink roses that were cropped with the co-ordinating die from the Tea Time Framelits, which is one of the Level 2 Sale-a-bration FREE products available for you to choose when you place and order of $180.

The greeting from the Forever Lovely stamp set was stamped in Mint Macaron ink and I've used the Soft Sea Foam and Light Mint Macaron Blends on the leaves of the roses as well. I finished with a trio of Calypso Coral enamel dots from the Happiness Blooms pack for some extra pop. You can see the detail in the lovely needlepoint embossing die in this closeup.

For the inside I have added a Grapefruit Grove mat for the writing panel and a narrow strip of the Petal Pink vellum was added at the base. In the top right corner, I've used the floral embossing die as a background to the smaller flower, also from the Tea  Together stamp set.

CTC213_SU_Sample

This week I've taken my inspiration from the card above, although you will see that my finished product does not really resemble it at all. I saw the lovely Lace Dynamic embossing folder and started with that, although I went with a white card base and a white embossed panel in a landscape orientation.

Stampin' Up! Floral Romance Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I have used Petal Pink as an accent colour in the flowers, the die cut oval and the variegated ribbon. I have to say when Petal Pink was released in the colour refresh, it honestly did not float my boat! However, the Floral Romance Suite of products has changed all that with the beautiful vellum in the coordinating Floral Romance Speciality Designer Paper that I have used for the background in my photo.

CTC213_Floral_Romance_Close
I've stamped the main floral image from the Wonderful Romance stamp set in Mememto Tuxedo Black ink and used Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers to colour. The large leaves are in Mossy Meadow and for the smaller spray of leaves with the flowers, I used Granny Apple Green to provide some contrast. The flowers are coloured with Petal Pink and a touch of Light Calypso Coral. The flowers were stamped, coloured and then fussy cut and popped up for extra dimension and a little pearl added to the centres.

CTC213_Floral_Romance_Inside
For the inside, I have embossed the scallops from the Lace Dynamic TIEF on each side of the writing panel. I was going to leave it at that, but thought it looked a little insipid, as one of my crafty friends would say! I added the die cut spray from the Well Written Framelits Dies and used Grapefruit Grove to add a better of extra colour for the flowers. I'm not sure that I really like it though.
