Heart of Christmas - Reindeer Days

HOC_Header_2024

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week, I'm using a layout that is great for small prints and we have quite a few options in the Mini Catalogue this year. It's also great for using up scraps and makes 6" x 6" paper go a long way.

I've combined the small holly print from the Reindeer Days DSP and the red print from the Take A Bow DSP to create a border around the edge of the Pool Party card base.

The Basic White centre panel has been dry embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder and I popped up the sweet reindeer that I fussy cut from a sheet of the Reindeer Days patterned paper. I like to adhere images that I want to pop up onto copy paper first and then fussy cut them. It makes it more sturdy without being difficult to cut out. The Reindeer Fun Dies will crop 2 of the reindeer images from the paper, but there are lots that can be fussy cut.

The 'Merry' is a die cut from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera pack and I advise you to be gentle when removing the die cuts from the frame and be super careful adding small dots of glue to the reverse side, as it isn't possible to use a glue eraser on these fine die cut words.  The 'christmas' from the Greetings of the Season stamp set was heat embossed in white on Garden Green card stock and trimmed closely. I finished with a trio of gold sequins from the Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins pack.

For the inside, there is a Real Red mat for the writing panel with a strip of the holly design down the left side. I have fussy cut a partial reindeer image from the edge of the paper and added it to the corner. This is a great way to ensure these images aren't wasted.

This week we are CASE-ing from the new Mix & Match pages in the 2024 September-December Mini Catalogue. These products are designed to make creating super easy with printed card bases or tags, pre-cut images and sentiments that you mix and match to create your cards and tags.

CTC487_Mix_Match

At the moment I only have the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, so I have created my card with the A Little Bit Festive 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper. This pack has 6 sheets of patterned paper (1 sheet each of 3 double-sided designs) and 1 each of 3 single-sided printed die-cut images that you pop-out in a very similiar style to the Mix & Match range. The main difference is that you have coordinating patterned paper to use with your die cuts.

I had this pre-cut card base waiting to be used, so it contributed to the design. The Basic White card base has a piece cut from the top edge and I cut another piece of Basic White the same size and dry embossed it with the Snowflake Sky 3D embossing folder and adhered it for the background.

I chose the wreath and the candy canes from the printed pre-cut images and I popped the wreath up on 1mm foam pads to give it a little dimension and then popped up the candy canes on Dimensionals to achieve another level, which you can see in the pic above.  I popped up the greeting from the
Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack under the wreath and added a strip of the red and white stripe design from the A Little Bit Festive Specialty DSP pack at the bottom to tie it all together. To add some sparkle, I popped the (retired) Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels over the berries that were not covered by the candy canes. It was an 'all or nothing' choice as it looked strange with just a few. You can also colour the clear

For the inside, I had the border which continues a little further and I added a narrow strip of Granny Apple Green card stock to top it.  The cute stack of presents in coordinating colours also from the A Little Bit Festive SDSP sheets of die cut designs was added to the bottom corner.

I hope you will give the A Little Bit Festive Specialty DSP or the Mix & Match Ephemera packs a try for your holiday projects this season. I'm sure you will find them a quick and easy solution.

Heart of Christmas - Graceful Greenery

HOC_Header_2024

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week I'm CASE-ing a card I found in the Online Store in the images associated with the Graceful Greenery 12" x 12" Vellum. I'm not sure what I was looking for, but the card caught my eye and I have created my own version of it (click on the link if you want to see the original). There are lots of great samples you can use for inspiration in the Online Exclusives products, so don't forget to check them out.

Stampin' Up! Season of Green & Gold Suite | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

Green isn't a go-to colour for me, except for foliage accents so the background of my card is the lovely vanilla and gold diamond design from the Season of Green & Gold Specialty DSP.  The Very Vanilla centre panel has a narrow border of Gold Foil to add a bit more bling and the vellum foliage softens the corners. The arrow is cropped from Mossy Meadow card stock and the Old Olive greeting label has been popped over the top, with the sentiment from the Decorative Trees stamp set heat embossed in white. The full pine frond provides the focus and I've tucked in some partial ones behind. I finished with some Adhesive-Backed Metallic Gems and the Cherry Cobbler Adhesive-Backed Pearls add a pop of colour.

There was another piece of the gold and vanilla paper left and I turned it over to find the bold Old Olive and Mossy Meadow design on the reverse. I decided it was an omen and made the card again, with the green background. I ran out of the pine fronds in the Season of Green & Gold DSP, so cropped some from the Graceful Greenery Vellum. I added a Basic White die cut behind them for brightness and then used a gold gel pen to add some touches of gold to the fronds which is really nice in real life.

So, which option do you prefer?  I like them both when looking at them individually and the green background does add a lot of punch!

Heart of Christmas - Country Birdhouse

HOC_Header_2024

Hi there

After a very hectic trip to Western Australia last week, it's great to be back for another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

I've had a Christmas birdhouse card in my head since the Country Birdhouse Bundle was released and today is the day! As with all ideas it has morphed a little as a result of the upcoming products from the 2024 September - December Mini Catalogue.

Stampin' Up! Country Birdhouse Bundle for Christmas | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I started with a piece of Pool Party card stock and dry embossed it with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder and then rubbed the design over with an ink spot that I created with a Craft White reinker. Although hard to see in the photo, it really makes the design stand out on the coloured cardstock. You could do this with a full sized pad, but I find it easier to control with the ink spot and less likely to get the ink on the background. I adhered the panel to a Pool Party card base with a tiny border.

I decided on a gingerbread style bird house so I cropped the birdhouse from Pecan Pie card stock and inked the inside of the Timber 3D Embossing Folder with Pecan Pie ink before embossing, to give the timber look. In hindsight it would be best to die cut the opening before the embossing process, but it still works either way. I trimmed the bird house with red and white details to coordinate with the super cute Real Red & White Adhesive-Backed Peppermints which led me to decide on the gingerbread look. The peppermint embellishments are in the upcoming mini catalogue, available from 4 September.

The flowers were cropped using the Country Birdhouse Dies and the foliage is cropped using the Golden Greenery Dies for the roundish Vellum leaves and the Winterly Treetops Dies for the Shaded Spruce foliage.  The sweet bird was coloured with Stampin' Blends Markers in tones to coordinate with Pecan Pie. The sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set was heat embossed in white on Real Red and trimmed closely. The location isn't what I originally had in mind, but I needed to balance out the composition.

For the inside, I have a Real Red mat for the writing panel with a tiny border and I stamped another greeting from the Greetings of the Season stamp set (from Online Exclusives) in Shaded Spruce. In the corner, I have a little cluster of foliage and flowers and another coloured bird.

Heart of Christmas 2024 - Reindeer Fun

HOC_Header_2024

Hi there

Welcome to the another week of Heart of Christmas for 2024. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week I am using the another new bundle from the upcoming 2024 September - December Mini Catalogue, called Reindeer Fun. I've created a simple card with the very cute reindeer that you create with the Reindeer Fun Dies.

Stampin' Up! Reindeer Fun Bundle | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I chose 2 designs from the Take a Bow Designer Paper, which is a 6" x 6" pack with small patterns in traditional red and green tones and separated them with a Basic White border and some of the new Natural Tones Linen Thread.

For the centrepiece I have the cute reindeer that is constructed from 3 die cuts that you layer together. I've used Early Espresso, Very Vanilla and Pecan Pie and before adhering them together I ink blended some Pretty in Pink on his ears. He has a Garden Green wreath around his neck that has been sponged for a little depth and I add some (retired) Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels. You could colour the clear Rhinestones with the Real Red Stampin' Blends marker.

I popped up the reindeer onto a Real Red circle cropped with a die from the Spotlight on Nature Dies and added it to a Basic White circle cropped with Stylish Shapes Dies. The greeting from the Reindeer Fun stamp set was stamped in Real Red on Basic White and I flagged the ends.
