This week we are taking inspiration from the Mix & Match section of the new Annual Catalogue. Mix & Match is a brand new set of products for creating, made easy. Select a set of cards & envelopes with printed backgrounds and matching envelopes and add an emphemera pack or two.

Mix-&-Match

There are 4 ephemera packs to choose from:

  • Saying Something - die cut greetings of all sizes and shapes,
  • Labels & Layers - die cut labels and layering pieces
  • Fully flowering - floral and foliage die cuts
  • Something For Everything - die cut images for all occasions

You can click on the image above to go to my Online Store and see the ephemera packs in more detail.

I chose the image above from page 21 for my inspiration this week. This project uses a card base and envelope from the Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes and elements from 2 of the ephemera packs. This is a great layout that lends itself to lots of different occasions and embellishments.

Stampin' Up! Playing In The Rain & Thoughtful Journey DSP | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I've used a cute critter on my card as well, but mine is the sweet rabbit from the Playing In The Rain stamp set. But first I decided on a design from the lovely Thoughtful Journey DSP for the background to provide some ground and sky for my outdoor scene. The greeting from the retired Beautiful Balloons stamp set was stamped in black ink on Basic White and cropped with the largest banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies

I stamped the bunny and the clumps of flowers in Basic Gray ink on Basic White and coloured them with Stampin' Blends. The images were cropped with the coordinating Playing In The Rain Dies. I positioned and adhered the banner flat and then the rabbit was popped up and the flowers positioned around him. I fussy cut a single flower to pop up at the end of the banner. I added a couple of dragonlflies around the flowers and finished with a trio of Petunia Pop resin dots.

For the inside, I have a Petunia Pop mat for the writing panel and I stamped the clump of flowers in the corner and coloured them the same as the front of the card. I will add a another greeting inside the card when I know the occasion.

This week we are taking inspiration from a project in the new 2023-24 Annual Catalogue that uses some of our new colours. We have 11 new core colours in the Colour Collection and I'm thrilled to see some lovely brand new colours and some old favourites returning to freshen everything up.

CTC420_SU_Sample
The Bright & Beautiful Suite Collection on pages 14 and 15 is a bright, fun group of products that is perfect for all kinds of celebratory occasions. It also includes 6 of the new core colours and I chose the project in the photo above for my inspiration.

Stampin' Up! Bright & Beautiful Suite | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I have included all the key elements of the sample project, but mixed it up a bit. I started with a portrait tent fold card and added the stars and Berry Burst designs from the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper pack to the card base. The fun fringe in Berry Burst was created with a die from the Beautiful Balloons Dies and I wrapped some Bubble Bath sheer ribbon around the top with a knot added separately. The fringe covers the join of the papers, leaving space for the'celebrate' greeting at the base. The die comes from the new Wanted To Say Dies and I have added Foam Adhesive Sheet to the reverse of Gold Foil to create lots of dimension and then adhered it to the shadow.  The 'celebrate' die is very fine, so you need to be super careful releasing it from the frame.

I have cropped 3 balloons from Blueberry Bushel, Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst card stock using the die from Beautiful Balloons Dies. The greeting from the Beautiful Balloons stamp set was stamped on the Lemon Lime Twist balloon in black ink. I've cropped another balloon from the new Gold Celebrations Specialty Paper (it is actually window sheet or acetate) that is part of the suite and carefully adhered it to the Blueberry Bushel balloon. If you put tiny dots of Tombow Glue on the reverse side on the streamers and let it go tacky, it will not smear. For the Berry Burst balloon, I've embossed it with the cross-hatch design from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders (from Online Exclusives).

CASE-ing the Catty - Sale-a-bration Sketch Challenge

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week!

If you've come from visiting  Julia, then welcome!  If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC405_BannerThis week we are CASE-ing a fabulous sketch from the 2023 Sale-a-bration brochure, shown in the photo above. I love 'strip' cards as they are great for using up your off-cuts and also for showcasing the wonderful coordination in Stampin' Up! patterned papers. The oval in the sketch represents an embellishment of any shape, so don't think it must be an oval!

CTC405_Sketch_Adorable_Owls_Held_a

I chose 5 coordinating designs from the Dandy Designs DSP pack that include shades of Fresh Freesia, Mango Melody and Petal Pink. I didn't leave a space between the 2.5cm strips as there wouldn't enough space at the top and bottom, plus, most of the designs have a fair amount of white so there wouldn't be much contrast. I recommend leaving an overhang on each side of the card so you can trim off the ends all at once for a perfect finish.

For the embellishment I chose the 3rd largest of the scalloped rectangles from the Scalloped Contours Dies for the background and double cut it to reduce the length. The greetings from the Adorable Owls stamp set were stamped in Fresh Freesia ink and I popped up the fussy cut owl on Dimensionals. The cute owl was coloured with Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. The bow is from the standing owl image and I popped it up on the side. I thought it looked a bit plain, so I added the faux hanger with the white ribbon and tied it off with  a bow using the Fresh Freesia Open Weave ribbon. I finished with a trio of the 2021-2023 Opal Rounds.

For the inside, I have a Fresh Freesia mat for the writing panel and I added the offcuts from the strips along the bottom. A tiny border of Mango Melody adds a little pop.  The greeting from the Inspired Thoughts stamp set was stamped in Fresh Freesia ink.

So Much Happy Bundle

Hi there

Today I'm sharing a card using the fabulous So Much Happy Bundle from the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue. This one has been on my Wish List for a while and I finally succumbed! This bundle is comprised of the So Much Happy stamp set and the coordinating Happy Dies and if you buy them together you save 10%.

So-Much-Happy-Bundle

This bundle is not only great for celebrating birthdays, but friendship, graduation, achievements or pretty much any occasion. The greetings mix and match with the large 'HAPPY' die and there are some cute accessories with the ballooons and stars.  The dies cut the balloon and star images from the stamp set but there is so much more, with the cute banner, clouds and the two long embossing dies to add details.

So my first card with this bundle is for a guy in his twenties and I wanted something bright, bold and fun. I had in mind to use the blue painterly design from the Artistry Blooms Designer Series Paper pack.

Artisty_Blooms_Blue_Combo

This colour combo is not one I would have ever put together myself, but I think it looks fabulous! It has a real summer 'beachy' feel to me.

Stampin' Up! So Much Happy Bundle - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I started with a piece of the designer paper and adhered it to a panel of Whisper White of the same size, to give it some body.  The 'HAPPY' was die cut from the panel and I recommend you use a new-ish cutting plate to minimise the imprint on the designer paper when you run it through the die cutting machine.  I used the stitched embossing die next, to add a trim either side. I like that it adds a border to the word, without adding anything extra. The 'HAPPY' was die cut again in Whisper White and placed behind and offset to create a shadow. When you cut the 'HAPPY' you automatically get a 1/4" border on either side of the word. I added glue just to the edge of the border (not the letters); it is quick and less messy. You can make your shadow on the left or the right as desired.

The panel was popped up onto my Night of Navy card base with Black Dimensionals. They are perfect for dark colours and barely discernible, making it look like the panel is floating.  You can see from this photo, how much dimension it adds to the card.  For the embellishment, I have 3 stars in different sizes cropped with the Stitched Stars Dies. The Night of Navy star has been embossed with one of the Wrapped In Texture Embossing Folders and I have stamped the stars from the So Much Happy stamp set a few times in Granny Apple Green for the white one.

The 'BIRTHDAY' is from one of the greetings in the Itty Bitty Birthdays stamp set and I've masked off the 'HAPPY' and then cropped it with a Stitched Rectangle Die. Finally, I added a trio of the new Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems for a little bit of sparkle.

For the inside, I have a Granny Apple Green mat for the writing panel and a strip of the designer paper at the bottom. I've die cut 2 balloon strings and added a stamped balloon and an embossed balloon that has been sponged with Coastal Cabana ink.
