Impressions Abloom for Mother's Day

Hi there

Yet another month has passed and it went so quickly with the combination of a messy late season cyclone, the OnStage event for Demonstrators in Brisbane and wrapping up our latest bathroom and pantry renovation, so we just made it into March with the class on Sunday.

Today I'm sharing the first of three cards we made and this was the most timing consuming one (or maybe we just chatted more, lol)  - a labour of love for Mother's Day, which is the first Sunday in May in Australia. It's always nice to be ready a bit ahead of time, don't you think?

This is an Accordion Gatefold card and I've also seen it called a Double Accordion Gatefold, but either way, it combines a gatefold card base and fun pop out accordion panel.  I've customised the measurements for our metric card stock and the folded card fits into a standard medium envelope.

I created the gatefold card base with Basic White Thick card stock and I've used the beautiful NEW (coming 6 May) Floral Impressions DSP and coordinating Impressions Abloom Dies to embellish the card.  The photo above shows the card closed with the embellished art panel on the front.

The card opens out to display the accordion panels that can be embellished as you desire. I decided to add another greeting in the centre panel, which is seen when the card stands for display. I love the colour combination of Fresh Freesia, Pool Party and Misty Moonlight in these particular designs from the Floral Impressions DSP which is coming in the next Online Exclusives drop on 6 May. The clever dies I have used for the flower embellishments come as 2 pieces - the outline and an optional inner piece that creates the highlights in the centre. Using the outline die alone allows you to cut some of the images from the paper as well, making it very versatile.

This photo shows how the accordion folds down, leaving the single panel displayed on the front of the card. This would be a fabulous fold for a milestone birthday with large numbers in the centre panel or any special occasion as it has a lot of presence when standing for display.

I've created the greeting panel on the reverse to provide more space to write and it remains private when the card is standing for display.

This week we are CASE-ing from the Mix & Match projects on pages 14-15 in the 2025 January-April Mini Catalogue. These sweet projects have been created with the Mix & Match Ephemera packs on page 13. There are card bases and envelopes, greetings and 3 choices of ephemera for different occasions. This is a great way to craft without needing a lot of tools, so great if you are travelling or getting started on your crafting journey. All you need is adhesive of your choice and of course Dimensionals to well, add dimension! The greetings cover all occasions and you get both white text on black and black text on white for different looks.

CTC512_SU_Sample

I chose the project above from page 15 of the 2025 January-April Mini Catalogue for my inspiration. I decided to use the beautiful Heirloom Arrangements Kit for my cards today.  This kit is a WHOLE BOX of beautiful ephemera with card bases, envelopes, labels, beautiful printed pre-cut decorative elements, an ink spot and stamp set. It will make 8 unique cards if you use the included guide, or you can use it as a big box of goodies and let your imagination run riot. I couldn't quite do that, as I'm CASE-ing the card above, but you get the idea!

For this card, I have used one of the pink card bases with vintage text on it and then took another card base with the pink cross hatch design and cut the front off. I cut the piece down and added it to a Pecan Pie mat with a tiny border then popped the panel up on the card base.

I selected various die cuts and then loosely arranged them on the background with the focus being on the right side as in the sample project. The lovely long floral branch in the background is a vellum die cut also from the kit. I popped up the greeting from the Greetings For All Mix & Match Ephemera pack on the left side as it was a bit busy on the right. I finished with some copper sequins from the Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins and Linen Thread tied around the banner and finished with a bow.

For the second card, I was inspired by the samples on page 15 using the lovely lattice frames from the Birthday Treats Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, so to create something similiar I used the lattice die from the Linked Together Dies. I first die cut a rectangle from Basic White Thick with one of the decorative Textured Notes Dies and then cut the lattice panel from it, which I set back into the piece and secured with tape on the reverse. I popped up the framed lattice on 1mm foam pads and then layered the chosen die cuts on the right side of the card. I added some ribbon and a twine bow to the floral tag and then popped up the sentiment and floral bouquet at different heights. I finished with a trio of bronze sequins.

I hope you will take a second look at the Heirloom Arrangements Kits as the photos in the Online Store really don't do it justice.

It is the final week of the Sale-a-Bration promotion, so this week we are taking inspiration from the Sale-a-Bration Brochure. There is still time to earn your favourite FREE product with a qualifying order of $100 AUD or more before shipping.

CTC508_SU_Sample

The Corner In Bloom stamp set was one of the first products I chose from the Sale-a-bration options as the images are perfect for embellishing the inside of cards, which I love to do. I chose the project in the photo above for my inspiration as the largest of the corner images has so many possibilities for embellishing cards and scrapbook pages. The sample shows how it can be used to embellish a framed photograph, which is a lovely idea.

Stampin' Up! 2025 Sale-a-Bration | Corner in Bloom | Judy May | Just Judy Designs
I started by stamping the image twice with Early Espresso ink on Basic White and used Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers to colour it. Did you know that you can use any of the Stampin' Up! inks to stamp images for colouring with alcohol markers? I find Early Espresso less harsh for images that will be coloured in softer colours, although you could go lighter still to something like Pebbled Path. When the images were finished I fussy cut them.

Stampin' Up! 2025 Sale-a-Bration | Corner in Bloom | Judy May | Just Judy Designs
I wanted the flowers to form a complete frame, so I let that dictate the size the card would be. I dry embossed a piece of Basic White card stock with the NEW Mini Corrugated 3D Embossing Folder that will be available to customers in the next drop of Online Exclusives on 4th March. You do need to allow for some shrinkage with this design so add a little extra in your cutting measurements. I layered that onto a Basic White mat and then onto the Fresh Freesia card base. I popped up the flowers on Dimensionals for a floating effect and adhered the fussy cut greeting from the Kindest Expressions stamp set flat. I finished with a trio of gold sequins from the Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins.

I have a white writing panel on the inside and the greeting from the retired Framed Florets stamp set stamped in Early Espresso ink. In the bottom corner I have a fussy cut section from the large floral image.

CASE-ing the Catty - Unbounded Love Bundle

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.

This week we are CASE-ing a Bundle from the 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue.  I haven't really looked at the Annual Catalogue too much in recent months because we have had back-to-back Mini Catalogues and it is so easy to get caught up in everything new. One of the foibles of human nature I guess!

CTC507_SU_Sample

I've chosen the Unbounded Love Bundle this week as it was a favourite from the 2024 - 2025 Annual Catalogue and it hasn't seen any love for ages.  The sample above is super simple, but I jazzed things up a bit with a simple fun fold and the coordinating Unbounded Beauty DSP. This paper incorporates all the 2024-2026 In Colors and one of my favourites is Petunia Pop. Thankfully we still have another year before we say goodbye to this pretty shade of purple/pink.

Stampin' Up! Unbounded Beauty Suite | Barn Door Fun Fold | Judy May | Just Judy Designs
This is a Barn Door Fun Fold card, so you need to start with a standard size card base with the fold on the left side. Using the trimmer find the centre point of the front on the short end and cut away the top half, taking the score line as well on the left. The bottom section was dry embossed with the cross-hatch design from the now retired Basics 3D Embossing Folders. The greeting from the Flowers of Beauty stamp set was stamped in Petunia Pop ink on Basic White and cropped with a lovely label die from the Unbounded Love Dies.  A narrow striped Petunia Pop banner was placed underneath the label with one of the smaller foliage dies in white providing a nice contrasting pop at the corners.

The lovely part about this card is that you're creating the front and the inside at the same time! I added a foliage die cut and another little flower to embellish the writing panel.

CASE-ing the Catty - More Sale-a-bration!

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week and Happy Australia Day!

The first month of Sale-a-Bration is over already, so we are on the final 4 weeks to earn FREE products with a qualifying order of $100AUD or more. There will be NEW products added to the selection available on 4th February (Tuesday), so make sure you check them out.

Sale-a-bration-Banner
This week I'm using the very sweet Toadstool Gardens 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper. I love the bright colours in this paper (being a pink fan from way back, lol). This is a Level 1 option, that you can choose with a $100AUD or more qualifying order.

CTC505_Toadstool_Gardens_DSP
The coordinating colours are Early Espresso, Fresh Freesia, Granny Apple Green, Melon Mambo, Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie. The paper is much brighter in real life and none of the images do it justice!

Stampin' Up! Terrific Toadstools Bundle & Toadstool Gardens DSP | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

To start, I cut a singled-sided Basic White Thick card base measuring 4 1/8" x 6" (10.5cm x 15.2cm) as I decided to use the designer paper for the top layer and couldn't see the point of cutting off a tiny strip. The card still easily fits in a Medium Envelope for standard postage. I chose the fun toadstool print and cut it in half at 3" and scored the left edge at 1/4" and adhered to the side of the card base. The Granny Apple Green strip was cut at 1/4" and added to the edge of the paper to create a nice border. I chose the Melon Mambo irregular diamond design to contrast and cut a piece 3 1/4" wide and folded it in half and glued the edges closed. The cut edge was then scored at 1/4" and added to the right side of the card base.

Stampin' Up! Terrific Toadstools Bundle & Toadstool Gardens DSP | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

You can see in the photo above, how it looks when the card is open. I stamped the small cluster of toadstools along the bottom of the writing panel, which is the card base.

Stampin' Up! Terrific Toadstools Bundle & Toadstool Gardens DSP | Judy May | Just Judy Designs
For the embellishment on the front, I used the Terrific Toadstools stamp set. The leaves were stamped in Granny Apple Green ink on a piece of Basic White and cropped it with one of the dies from the Spotlight on Nature Dies. The toadstools were stamped in Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie ink and cropped with coordinating Terrific Toadstools Builder Punch. I love that it crops inside the image, without leaving a border. The stems were punched from Early Espresso card stock and the finished pieces were layered onto the stamped circle. The white circle was popped up on the Melon Mamber Circle. The birthday greeting from Beautiful Butterflies stamp set was stamped and trimmed into 2 pieces and popped up over the stems.

The retired Lemon Lime Twist 1/8" ribbon was treaded through the trim on each side of the circle, which was adhered to the left side of the card only. I finished with some gold sequins and a retired Bumblebee Trinket and tied the ribbon into a bow on the right.
