This week we are taking inspiration from the Bundles listed on pages 155-160 of the new 2023-24 Annual Catalogue. I always make a point of looking at the Bundles pages as you get another sample project and a better look at the coordinating dies and it can be easy to miss things in the body of the catalogue. There are some great new bundles in this year's catalogue, but if you don't have them yet, no problems; CASE-ing is about taking inspiration from the colours, layout, technique or type of product used in a project. It's about what inspires you to create your own project. CTC422_SU_Sample

I love the eyelet border die in the Darling Details Dies that allows you to thread ribbon (or card stock) for the broderie anglaise look, which seems to be making a bit of a comeback in clothes as well. Plus, the two lovely frame dies in the same style, which can be used as is, or cut into pieces for borders or trims under sentiments etc. There are also 22 stamps in the  coordinating Darling Details stamp set, so lots of possibilies .

I started with the Bubble Bath card base and cut the border separately from Bubble Bath cardstock. I threaded two rows of the Sweet Sorbet 1/8" Metallic Woven Ribbon through the ribbon slot. This ribbon is much closer in colour to Berry Burst, so it works well with Bubble Bath. At the top I added a piece of the Bubble Bath designer paper from the Bright & Beautiful 6" x 6" DSP pack.

I stamped the flowers in Fresh Freesia and Berry Burst ink and added the detail layer with Versamark ink and heat set with white embossing powder. Although not apparent in the photo, it adds another layer of texture to the card. The stamped foliage is in Granny Apple Green and Garden Green and the detailed die cut foliage in Garden Green. Once all the pieces were stamped and die cut it was a matter of layering them as desired. The large Berry Burst flower is popped up on Dimensionals.  I wasn't happy with my original plan for the sentiment and decided to stamp the birthday greeting directly onto the background paper and then added the fussy cut 'friend' at the bottom right.  I finished with 3 Daffodil Delight Glossy Dots as a contrast to the pink.

This week we are taking inspiration from a project in the new 2023-24 Annual Catalogue that uses some of our new colours. We have 11 new core colours in the Colour Collection and I'm thrilled to see some lovely brand new colours and some old favourites returning to freshen everything up.

CTC420_SU_Sample
The Bright & Beautiful Suite Collection on pages 14 and 15 is a bright, fun group of products that is perfect for all kinds of celebratory occasions. It also includes 6 of the new core colours and I chose the project in the photo above for my inspiration.

Stampin' Up! Bright & Beautiful Suite | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I have included all the key elements of the sample project, but mixed it up a bit. I started with a portrait tent fold card and added the stars and Berry Burst designs from the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper pack to the card base. The fun fringe in Berry Burst was created with a die from the Beautiful Balloons Dies and I wrapped some Bubble Bath sheer ribbon around the top with a knot added separately. The fringe covers the join of the papers, leaving space for the'celebrate' greeting at the base. The die comes from the new Wanted To Say Dies and I have added Foam Adhesive Sheet to the reverse of Gold Foil to create lots of dimension and then adhered it to the shadow.  The 'celebrate' die is very fine, so you need to be super careful releasing it from the frame.

I have cropped 3 balloons from Blueberry Bushel, Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst card stock using the die from Beautiful Balloons Dies. The greeting from the Beautiful Balloons stamp set was stamped on the Lemon Lime Twist balloon in black ink. I've cropped another balloon from the new Gold Celebrations Specialty Paper (it is actually window sheet or acetate) that is part of the suite and carefully adhered it to the Blueberry Bushel balloon. If you put tiny dots of Tombow Glue on the reverse side on the streamers and let it go tacky, it will not smear. For the Berry Burst balloon, I've embossed it with the cross-hatch design from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders (from Online Exclusives).

As it is Mother's Day today, it is appropriate that we are CASE-ing a 'Love' project from the new 2023-24 Annual Catalogue.

I chose the sweet 3D packaging project in the photo above for my CASE and turned it into a card instead.

Stampin' Up! Delightfully Eclectic DSP and Two-Tone Flora | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

My patterned papers arrived this week, so I've used the pretty floral print from the Delightfully Eclectic Designer Series Paper pack for the background on my card. I was going to leave the side edges bare as shown in the sample, but when I turned over the paper to see the pretty pink stripe, I couldn't resist! I added the pink stripes directly to the card and the floral panel to a piece of Basic White, to make it easier to wrap the twine around it. The treat box sample uses the Copper Clay jute from the 2023-25 In Color Jute Trim pack, but as I don't have that right now, I have coloured Baker's Twine with the Cajun Craze Stampin' Blends markers.

Stampin' Up! Delightfully Eclectic DSP and Two-Tone Flora | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I've used the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies to crop the pierced circle from Bubble Bath card stock. This is such a lovely clear pink that we have needed in the colour collection. The foliage was cropped with a die from the Timeless Arrangements Dies using Garden Green & Old Olive card stock. The flowers were stamped in Bubble Bath and Cajun Craze inks using the Two-Tone Flora stamp set and cropped with the correseponding dies. The Bubble Bath circle is popped up over the twine and the foliage and flowers are adhered flat. The greeting from the Go To Greetings stamp set was stamped in Cajun Craze ink and cropped with a banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies and popped up over the flowers and foliage. I finished with a trio of tinsel gems from the Tinsel Gems Four-Pack in the Berry Burst colour, which works very nicely with Bubble Bath.

CASE-ing the Catty - Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week!

I'm visiting family in Western Australia this week, but I managed to make a card for this week's challenge before I left, so thanks for stopping by.

You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC410_Banner

This week we are CASE-ing an Embossing Folder project from either of the current catalogues.

CTC410_SU_Sample
I chose the card above from page 14 because it uses the technique of inking inside the embossing folder. I haven't used it for ages, so a great opportunity to revisit it. The Pretty Flowers Embossing Folder is perfect as it has random flat areas between the floral design.

Stampin' Up! Pretty Flowers Inked Embossing Folder Technique | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

This technique works best with darker colours, so I have used Orchid Oasis card stock, the same as the sample project. The tone on tone effect that you achieve with this technique reminds me of brocade fabric with the shades of light and dark colour. Open the embossing folder and swipe the Craft White ink pad over the entire surface (the side with the Stampin' Up! logo on it). You only want the ink on the raised areas, so don't push too hard. Place the card stock carefully in the folder and run it through your machine. My ink pad probably could have done with reinking, but I really like the softer look that has resulted. The embossed panel was adhered to the Thick Basic White card base. Make sure you rinse off the embossing folder immediately you have finished.

Stampin' Up! Pretty Flowers Inked Embossing Folder Technique | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've kept my embellishment simple as I wanted the embossed background to be the hero. The sentiment from Framed Florets was stamped in Orchid Oasis ink and cropped with a circle from Stylish Shapes Dies and then matted onto a Pool Party circle cropped with the Layering Circles Dies. The flower from Two-Tone Flora was stamped in shades of  Flirty Flamingo ink and I added it to a die cut stem in Garden Green cropped with the Sentimental Park Dies. The greeting is adhered flat, to make it easier to balance the edges of the stem and the flower was popped up. I finished with 3 tiny flowers in the same colours using the Sending Dies and a Dragonfly Trinket.

Stampin' Up! Pretty Flowers Inked Embossing Folder Technique | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

For the inside, I've stamped the small flower cluster from Two-Tone Flora along the bottom of the writing panel in Flirty Flamingo ink. To soften the colour I swiped the edges of the panel of Orchid Oasis with the Craft White ink pad before adhering the writing panel.

CASE-ing the Catty - Artistic Expression with Happiness Abounds

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

This week are CASE-ing a project from the Artistic Expression section of the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue. This is a really large section so there are lots of great samples to choose from.

CTC409_SU_Sample

I chose the card above from page 96, because it is pink, lol and I love the pierced scallop border cut on the angle.

Stampin' Up! Hues of Happiness Slimline Card | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

This is a small slimline card, so I started with a piece of Thick Whisper White 7" x 6" (18 x 15.2cm),  scored on the long side at 3 1/2" (9cm).  The Melon Mambo design from the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper was adhered to the card base. Next is a piece of Whisper White 3 1/2" x 5" (9cm x 12.7cm) that I dry embossed with the Cane Weave 3D Embossing Folder and then cut on the angle with the pierced scalloped border die from the Scalloped Contours Dies. Cutting the edge does flatten the embossing a little to make it a more subtle effect, which I like for this card. You can of course do it the other way around, but I find you lose the crisp edge and the piercing gets a little blurred.

Stampin' Up! Hues of Happiness Slimline Card | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I've stamped the flowers and foliage from the Happiness Abounds stamp set in Basic Gray ink, as I thought black would be too stark. All apart from the pink rose were coloured with Stampin' Blends. As we don't have Melon Mambo in Blends (sad face), I've used Watercolour Pencils and the Color Lifter to colour the rose. I tried Polished Pink first, but it really didn't work with the paper. I found the 2-line birthday greeting in the Days to Remember stamp set and stamped it in Night of Navy on Balmy Blue and cropped it with a Stitched Rectangle die. I added some dimension to the flowers with my bone folder and then popped them up at different heights and added the foliage. I finished with a trio of Iridescent Pearls.  You can see the embossing more clearly in this photo.

Stampin' Up! Hues of Happiness Slimline Card | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

For the inside, I've added a Basic White writing panel and stamped the small flowers along the bottom and coloured them in Balmy Blue, Daffodil Delight and Granny Apple Green.
