This week we are taking inspiration from a project in the Garden Walk section of  the 2023 September-December Mini Catalogue

CTC445_SU_Sample
I've used the sample above from page 54 of the Mini Catalogue for the inspiration for my card, today.

Stampin' Up! Be Mine Suite | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
Yesterday, we had the Stampin' Up! OnStage At Home event to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the company. We also had our first look at the forthcoming 2024 January-April Mini Catalogue and Sale-a-bration brochure. We watched some great presentations on a selection of the new suites that are coming and got to craft along with the new Bee Mine Suite Collection.  I used the opportunity to create today's card with some of the products from the suite. I started with a Pool Party card base and added the pretty floral paper from the Bee Mine Designer Series Paper with a narrow border of the coordinating striped paper that is on the reverse side.

I don't have the Modern Oval Punch, so I used the rounded rectangle from the Nested Essentials Dies to crop the Sweet Sorbet design with the bee trails. I adhered it to another cut from Basic White to make it more robust to pop up over the Pool Party ribbon. The greeting from the Textured Floral stamp set seemed very appropriate, so I stamped it in Sweet Sorbet ink and cropped it with a decorative die from the All That Dies set. The cute bees were fussy cut from another sheet of the designer paper and I popped them up around the greeting. I finished with a Petal Pink heart from the coordinating Adhesive-Backed Hearts & Flowers.

For the inside, I have carried through the same layout as the front with the writing panel trimmed with a narrow border of the striped designer paper and some of the floral paper at the bottom. I added a different fussy cut bee in the top right corner.

This week we are taking inspiration from the O Holy Night Suite from the September - December Mini Catalogue. This is one of my favourites in this catalogue.

CTC437_SU_Sample
I've chosen the project in the photo above from page 14 for my inspiration. It is a gift/treat box and I've used the layout to create a card.

Stampin' Up! Delightful Floral DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

Surprise! I decided to give you a break from Christmas cards this week and instead used some of the gorgeous new Delightful Floral DSP. If you haven't seen this yet, check it out in a large format in the Online Exclusives section of my Online Store. This paper coordinates with the Translucent Florals Bundle from the Mini Catalogue. It is a 'while stocks last item', so if you love it, don't risk being disappointed.

When I'm using ribbon wrapped around the front of the card, I always start with a card size panel of Basic White and adhere the floral paper to this panel. The background label was created by cutting the label die from the Stars At Night Dies twice from Berry Burst shimmer paper from the Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper pack. Three of the colours from the Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper coordinate with the Delightful Floral DSP, so you might want to consider it, as it is super pretty. The straight edge of the labels face each other and then move them apart to create your preferred border on the greeting circle. The Pretty Peacock strip across the centre hides the gap between the labels. I used the Pretty Peacock wash design from the paper pack and adhered it to Pretty Peacock card stock to make it more robust.

Stampin' Up! Delightful Floral DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I added a strip of the gorgeous 1/2" Iridescent Ribbon across the centre of the Pretty Peacock strip and adhered behind the panel. The greeting from the Layering Leaves set was stamped in Berry Burst ink and cropped with the second largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies. The matting circle from Parakeet Party was cropped with the (retired) 2 1/4" Circle Punch. The finished label was popped up over the Berry Burst label and I added some Lost Lagoon and white foliage cropped with the Layering Leaves Dies. I finished with a bow on the side using the Iridescent Ribbon and hopefully you can see some of the shine in the photo above. Unfortunately, it cannot do it justice as it is so pretty in real life.

Stampin' Up! Delightful Floral DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
The inside is very simple, with a slightly smaller panel of Basic White, trimmed with the floral paper on the right and a narrow border of the Berry Burst Soft Shimmer paper. I can add another greeting when I know the occasion I'm using the card for.

This week our mission is to choose a project from the 2023-24 Annual Catalogue and 'step it up'. Our banner pic is a great example of how you can 'step up' a project by adding additional layers, details and embellishments.

CTC433_SU_Sample

I chose the project in the photo above from page 29 of the 2023-24 Annual Catalogue for my inspiration. I'm not keen on the colour choices the designer made, but I looked past that to the layout, which is simple and flexible.

en Walk DSP, Layering Leaves & So Refreshing Dies | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I chose another pretty floral design from the new Garden Walk paper pack that is in the forthcoming Mini Catalogue, commencing on 6 September. The colours in it are Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Wild Wheat, Pretty Peacock and the background is a lighter shade of Lost Lagoon.  I covered two-thirds of a card front sized piece of Calypso Coral with the floral design and the remainder with the striped vellum from the Vellum Basics Specialty DSP with a narrow border of Calypso Coral separating them. The vellum tones down the Calypso Coral and allows me to use it for other accents on the card.

en Walk DSP, Layering Leaves & So Refreshing Dies | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
For the focus panel I have used the stitched and scalloped rectangle from the Scalloped Contours Dies for some pretty detail and stamped the greeting from the Layering Leaves stamp set on the left  in Calypso Coral ink. This is such a flexible greeting as it could be used for celebrating pretty much any occasion and the font is lovely, too.

On the right I have the jug from the So Refreshing Dies cropped from the Pretty Peacock spotted print and I cropped another from Pretty Peacock cardstock and adhered them together to make it more robust. I added some Basic White and Lost Lagoon foliage to the jug, using the Textured Floral Dies. The jug die cuts the slit for you to poke the foliage through, for a realistic look.  I adhered the jug flat, leaving the handle free for extra dimension. At the base of the jug is a little group of flowers in stamped-off Calypso Coral ink. The flowers are from the Two-Tone Flora stamp set and are very similiar to the style in the floral print. I added a little bow in white Baker's Twine behind them and finished with silver pearls in the centres. The focus panel was popped up on 1mm foam pads, to even out the height. The Calypso Coral panel was adhered to a Thick Basic White card base.

en Walk DSP, Layering Leaves & So Refreshing Dies | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
For the inside I have a Calypso Coral Mat for the writing panel and on the right a strip of the floral print with a narrow border of Calypso Coral to mirror the front. The greeting from the Artistically Inked set was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the Bright & Beautiful Suite

CTC432_SU_Sample

I decided to take the layout from the above sample on page 14 for my project today, with the fun fringe trim. I also have a sneak peak for you, of a new paper pack from the forthcoming 2023 Septemer-December Mini Catalogue, called Garden Walk. It is a 6" x 6" pack with some lovely coordinating prints, including some for Christmas, but I prefer the pretty florals. The colours included are Pretty Peacock, Poppy Parade, Calyspo Coral, Garden Green and  Wild Wheat.

Stampin' Up! Garden Walk DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I chose the pretty rose floral paper (my favourite in the pack) and a coordinating Pretty Peacock print. I started by cutting a card size piece of each print and then cutting each on the diagonal, which gives you 2 cards. You could of course alternate the prints, but I didn't want to cover the pretty rose design too much.  I decided on one as a friendship card and the other as a birthday card.

Stampin' Up! Garden Walk DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

Although it isn't one of the listed colours, I thought Flirty Flamingo went well with the print, as it isn't as bold as Calypso Coral, but there are similiar tones in the small flowers. I used the fringe die from the Beautiful Balloons Dies with the Flirty Flamingo strip and added the resulting fringe to the reverse side of the floral print. The Pretty Peacock print was adhered directly to the card and then the floral print with the attached fringe. My tip for this step is to ensure the fringe at the top corner finishes at a space between the cuts, so that when you trim the edges, you don't end up with a tiny piece that falls off (as happened on the first one I made).  A 3/4" strip of the Pretty Peacock stripe was added underneath the fringe and is half the width of the the fringe.  I added a faux bow of Gold 1/8" Trim under each greeting label, which adds some sparkle and a sprinkle of Iridescent Pastel Gems.

I finished both cards inside with a Pretty Peacock mat with a narrow border. At the bottom is a piece of the floral paper and small strip of Flirty Flamingo fringe for a fun touch.

CASE-ing the Catty - Die Cut Project

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty this week. I've been MIA for the last couple of weeks as I had 2 fabulous weekends away! Not something that happens very often, but it was lovely to visit friends and see some lovely countryside.

If you've come from visiting  Monique, then welcome!  If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.

This week we are taking inspiration from a Die Cut project in the 2023-24 Annual Catalogue. This provides a lot of scope given that it's almost impossible to make a card without dies!

Ctc427_SU_Sample
I chose the project above for my inspiration this week. I'm busy cutting 56 card kits for a team event in Melbourne next week, so I was looking for a simple project. Haha, the best laid plans!

Ctc427_Timeless_Arrangements_FB

I wanted a soft, feminine look for my card, so I started with a panel of Bubble Bath card stock and used the same mask from the Foursquare Decorative Masks with Berry Burst ink and a blending brush. My first effort was very bold (more on that later), so I put that aside and decided to try with Bubble Bath ink. It was softer, but didn't have any pop, so I turned it over and tried again with Berry Burst, using a lighter touch to get a result I was happy with. The moral of the story is to carefully lift up a corner while holding the rest firmly and check how it looks. It is hard to gauge the strength of the colour, otherwise.

Stampin' Up! Timeless Arrangments Bundle | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I stamped a few of the bubbles from the Timeless Arrangments stamp set on the background in Berry Burst ink and then die cut some foliage in white and Berry Burst to keep a tonal look. The greeting from Crafting With You stamp set was stamped in Berry Burst ink and cropped with a die from Timeless Arrangments and I added a narrow border of Berry Burst. Once I had the foliage roughly arranged under the greeting, I removed everything and added the faux bow of silver Simply Elegant Trim with glue dots and then adhered the foliage over the top. The greeting label was then popped over the top with Dimensionals. I finished with silver Festive Pearls either side of HUG and a trio of the Loose Silver Sequins, which are actually quite see-through.

My first effort at creating the blended front panel with the mask was way too dark, but rather than waste it, I've used it for the mat to my writing panel, which I've left plain. I can add another greeting later, if I need to and the bold border is enough decoration.
