Sweet Baby Bear

Hi there

The card I'm sharing today is one that I designed especially for a recent private class. One of the lovely ladies wanted to learn how to get a good result with the Baby Bear stamp. It is a 3-step stamp and the images are numbered 1, 2 and 3 in the order in which Stampin' Up! suggests they should be stamped.  Personally, I find it easier to go 3, 2,1 so that you are putting down the darkest colour first. I think it makes it easier to line up the other 2 stamps - I use his bottom and the inside edges of his paws as reference points when lining up the second and third stamps.

I have provided a patchwork background for this sweet bear image using the smallest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits to die cut 3 of the patterns from the Blushing Bride designer paper (from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack). I wanted to have 2 designs that were predominantly Blushing Bride and 2 that had more white, so I die cut 3 squares in Whisper White and then stamped over them with the heart stamp from the 'Bloomin' Love' stamp set in Blushing Bride ink to produce the floral squares. The squares are mounted onto a piece of Whisper White card stock and a strip with the 'congrats' greeting from the 'Vertical Greetings' stamp set was added to the right hand end, making the finished panel level. I added a strip of Crumb Cake and some White Organza Ribbon before mounting the panel onto a Crumb Cake mat and then onto the Blushing Bride card base.

I wanted a soft natural looking bear, so the ink colours I used were (in my 3, 2 1 order) - Soft Suede, Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand. I then die cut the image (not an SU die) and popped it up over the Crumb Cake strip with foam pads. I have finished it off with some tiny flowers with pearl centres.

This close-sup shows the lovely stitched detailed in the squares and the soft browns in the bear. With all the detail on the front of the card, I have kept the inside simple.

I have used a Crumb Cake mat for the writing panel and a greeting in the same colour from the 'Made with Love' stamp set. A strip of spotted Blushing Bride designer paper at the bottom finishes it off.

Reverse Words for Baby

Hi there

I've been away visiting family  for the last 10 days, so I'm looking forward to getting crafty again. I did take a stamp set and my water colour paper and pencils with me so I will have a few cards to show you shortly.

Can you believe we are more than half way through March already, so there is less than 2 weeks left to take advantage of the FREE Sale-a-bration products available with every $90 order. We are at that stage where Sale-a-bration products are available only while stocks last, so order now to make sure you don't miss out on the item you want.

Don't forget, as an extra bonus from me, you will get an entry into the draw for $50 of Stampin' Up! product of your choice and if you use this month's Hostess Code YURRHD6U, you will receive another small gift directly from me. That is 3 great reasons to place your order now.  My random number generator will be drawing the winner on 1 April 2017 and you will have an excellent chance of being the lucky person I contact.

Today I wanted to share a card I made with the Sale-a-bration Second Release stamp set, 'Reverse Words'. This is a set of 2 large stamps with the words 'hooray' and 'cheers' that show through the stamped background. The 'hooray' is perfect for greetings on birthday cards, but I wanted to extend it a bit further, so I have made a sweet baby card.

Stampin' Up! Reverse Words (Sale-a-bration) with Moon Baby - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I have stamped the 'hooray' in Crumb Cake ink towards to bottom of the art piece and then added the cute baby from the 'Moon Baby' stamp set. I stamped the image with Basic Gray Archival ink onto Shimmery white card stock before colouring with my Aqua painter and ink pads and then fussy cutting. The banner from 'Endless Thanks' has been stamped with the 'it's a girl'  greeting from the Sale-a-bration stamp set 'Any Occasion', fussy cut and popped up at the base.  I used a Copic marker to give the banner the pale pink background. The art piece has been matted on the beautiful Sweet Sugarplum glimmer paper from the Glimmer Assortment pack, another of the Second Release Sale-a-bration items. The base card is Crumb Cake and I have finished it with a little banner and double bow in white Baker's twine and a little bling.

The writing panel has a mat of Sweet Sugarplum and at the base is a strip of Crumb Cake washi topped with a narrow strip of Sweet Sugarplum glimmer paper. The greeting is from the 'Made with Love' stamp set with the stars from the 'Perpetual Calendar' stamp set stamped off across it in Sweet Sugarplum ink.

Total Cuteness

Hi there

I've been having a play with the 'Moon Baby' stamp set from the new Occasions Catalogue. This has to be one of THE cutest stamp sets for welcoming a new baby, that Stampin' Up! have released. I'm giving you advance warning of cuteness overload!

I took up the challenge to make a baby girl card with this stamp set, after one of my lovely team members mentioned that it seemed to be primarily used in baby boy cards. In the end, I made one of each, although the second one is really gender neutral. In case you haven't seen it, here is the stamp set. It has the 3 main line images that are perfect for colouring and a number of greetings.

Moon_Baby_Stamp_Set

You could use Stampin' Write markers, the new Watercolour Pencils or ink pads and Aqua Painter to colour these cute images. I chose to use my ink pads and Aqua Painter after stamping the image in Basic Gray Archival ink onto the Shimmery White card stock. I coloured just the moon on this image.  I stamped a second image on a scrap piece of Shimmery White and coloured just the baby this time. I fussy cut the image and popped it up over the baby on my art piece. I then stamped the baby again onto Blushing Bride card stock and fussy cut the onsie this time and then adhered it to the baby on my art piece.

I chose Blushing Bride as the feature colour for the card. The art piece is layered onto sparkly Blushing Bride Glimmer paper and finished with the matching stitched satin ribbon. The greeting is heat embossed in copper as it works so well with Blushing Bride. I love that Stampin' up! makes creating so easy with all the coordinating products.

This pic shows the fussy cut baby popped up with the paper pieced onsie. I added some shading to the onsie with a marker and blender pen. Isn't it a cute image.

Moon_Baby_Pink_Env

I stamped the image of the toys on the envelope and coloured it with Copic markers.  In the background, you can also see the lovely copper embossing on the greeting.

Moon_Baby_Pink_Inside

For the inside, I've stamped the other baby image onto Shimmery White card stock and water coloured it as well. I finished it with a strip of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper and some tiny rhinestones on the onesie.

I made the second card in exactly the same design, but this time I used Pool Party and Silver Glimmer for a boy/gender neutral option.

Finally, here is a pic of both the colour ways together. Which is your favourite?

CASE-ing the Catty - Babies & Kids

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

The crew are CASE-ing the Babies & Kids section of the new Annual Catalogue this week. I've been hanging out to break open the 'Baby Bear' stamp set ever since I first saw it at On Stage. I'm a 'bear person' from way back, having collected bears and made my own bears which I have on display in my craft room.

You may have come from Rachel's Blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This is the Stampin' Up! sample from page 61 that I am CASE-ing today. Doesn't it look so huggable?

CTC85_SU_Sample

I have stayed fairly true to the layout, using Blushing Bride and Sahara Sand to create a feminine baby card. Baby Bear is a 3-step stamp set and the colours used are Sahara Sand, Soft Suede and Early Espresso. The 3 pieces are numbered in the order (1,2,3) in which they should be stamped, but I have personally found it easier to line up the stamps in the reverse order (3,2,1) as the darkest image is stamped laid down first. Experiment and work out which way is best for you.

I enjoyed decorating the inside, using the banner from 'Celebrate Today' in the corner and the greeting and cute bird from the 'Made with Love' stamp set to add some cute details.

CASE-ing the Catty - Sale-a-bration Favourite

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

It is Sunday again and the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from their favourite projects and stamps in the fabulous Sale-a-bration Catalogue.  There is sooooo much to love in this little catty, that it is hard to choose.

You may have come from Simone's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can join the trail here by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

Tonight I'm featuring the 'Honeycomb Happiness' stamp set on Page 15.  This little bird/chick is such a cutie and can be used for lots of occasions.

Screen Shot 01-17-16 at 05.39 PM

The actual project  I'm case-ing is this card on page 10 of the Sale-a-bration catty. I love the bright colours and the clean and simple layout on this card.  I decided to make a baby card and I have stayed fairly close to the basic layout.   Baby cards are often pastel, so I thought something bright and contemporary would work well with the cute chick. This is also a cute sweet stamp set to colour - very quick and easy. I have coloured the chick with Copic markers and then fussy cut and popped him/her up. I stamped the balloon onto the Melon Mambo floral DSP and then fussy cut and popped it up as well.  The 'peek-a-boo' greeting is from the new 'Suite Sayings' stamp set from the Occasions catalogue and the 'congrats' is from the 'Perfect Pairings' Sale-a-bration stamp set. This is another really useful and versatile set with sentiments that you can mix and match.
