This week we are taking inspiration from a Shaker Card from the 2024-25 Annual Catalogue. Shaker cards are fun to make and very interactive for the receiver.  You can of course use the layout, colours or other attribute from the shaker card project to CASE as well.

CTC482_SU_Sample

I chose the project above for my inspiration. It is a simple shaker card using a cellophane bag to cover the entire front of the card and to hold your sprinkles. It is a little faster to create and you don't need to cut a shape from the card front to create your shaker component. I haven't made one in this style before, so decided to give it a try.

I have used the Lily Pond Lane Designer Series Paper to create a scene for a sweet baby card.  I have only used the designer paper for my card as I don't have the coordinating stamp and die bundle. However, there are lots of cute images that are easy to fussy cut. I chose the landscape background and popped up the fussy cut ducks. I made sure there were no gaps in the Dimensionals for the Loose Frosted Dots to get caught in. The greeting is from the retired  Charming Sentiments stamp set, stamped in Pretty Peacock ink.

The background was added to a piece of Basic White with a tiny border and then to a piece of Balmy Blue cardstock. I added the little banners at the top with the white Baker's Twine bow, which with hindsight I probably wouldn't do again, as the dots move the tails around. I popped the panel into a Clear Medium Envelope and added the Loose Frosted Dots. I found it easiest to have the dots on a small piece of paper, which I could insert into the envelope so they could slide off and mostly stay the right side up. I closed the envelope and then adhered it to a Thick Basic White card base.

For the inside, I have a wide mat of Balmy Blue for the writing panel and I have added some Balmy Blue ink blending at the bottom and a border of lily pads for the fussy cut mama duck to rest in. The greeting from Charming Sentiments was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink.

This was fun to make, but extremely difficult to photograph! I hope you will give this style of shaker card a try. You can use any clear cellophane bag and fold it over if it is a little large.

This week we are CASE-ing an Easter Project. You can see the sample projects in the photo above.

CTC364_SU_Sample
I've used the sweet treat box in the photo above for my inspiration, but decided to turn it into a baby card instead.

Stampin' Up! Easter Friends Baby Card | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I have taken the layout from the treat box, with the designer paper across the centre and some white showing top and bottom. I've the pretty Fresh Freesia gingham from the Pansy Petals DSP with a little border of a coordinating small print at the top and bottom.  The sweet bunny, my favourite image from the Easter Friends stamp set, was stamped in Basic Gray ink and fussy cut.  I added a little Light Smoky Slate around the shaded areas with a Stampin' Blends marker.

I have a sneak peek of a new product from the 2022-23 Annual Catalogue with the Stylish Shapes Dies. Initally I thought they were stitched dies, but found when I cut the circle, that they are pierced. Included in the set are 6 nesting circles and 5 nesting squares (yay!) and also 4 banners of varying length and width.

I stamped some grass at the bottom of the circle in Just Jade ink and used a Blending Brush and Balmy Blue ink to add a soft background before popping up the bunny over the top. The bunny has a little bouquet of flowers die cut with the (sadly, retiring) Pierced Blooms Dies. The greeting from the Many Messages stamp set was stamped in Fresh Freesia Ink and I used one of the banners from the Stylish Shapes Dies to crop it. I finished with a trio of Brushed Brass Butterflies and a bow at the top in the Glittered Organdy ribbon.

This week we are CASE-ing projects from the Die Bundles on pages 173-179 of the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue

CTC284_SU_Sample

My project this week is inspired by the catalogue sample above from page 176.  I've had my eye on this sample since the catalogue was released; it is just so cute!

Stampin' Up! Hippo Happiness Bundle - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

It was the 3 sets of nesting dies in different shapes in the Hippo & Friends Dies that first caught my eye, but then the bundled discount meant that the stamp set was only $21.50, so I decided to buy the bundle. I think the sweet hippo and lamb are perfect for baby cards, so that is what I've created.

Stampin' Up! Hippo Happiness Bundle - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've stayed close to the layout, as that is what attracted me to the card, changing up the colour to Blushing Bride. I adhered the circle design paper to a panel of Whisper White leaving a small border on each side, which I think adds a little pop. I had a panel of Thick Whisper White that had been dry embossed with the lovely Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder,  so I die cut the largest of the semi-square label dies from the Hippo & Friends Dies and adhered it to the panel. I wrapped some retired Blushing Bride Baker's Twine around the panel, finishing in a bow on the side and then popped it up on the Blushing Bride card base.

The next size of label die was cut from Blushing Bride card stock and popped up over the white label. The sweet hippo was stamped in Smoky Slate ink; the body stamped off and then full strength stamped over the top. He is popped up on the squiggly 'grass' cut from Pear Pizzazz card stock. The balloons are stamped in So Saffron, Coastal Cabana and Blushing Bride ink and popped up at different heights. I pushed the ink down into the pads with the back of the spoon to give a more pastel tone to the colours. Finally, the greeting from the retired Made with Love stamp set was stamped in Basic Gray  ink on So Saffron card stock and popped up at the bottom of the grass. It looks more like Daffodil Delight in the photo, though.

For the inside, I have a strip of the circle design paper down each side, with the writing panel in between. I stamped another greeting from the retired Made With Love stamp set in the middle and added a couple of rows of the squiggles at the base with a cute lamb that was stamped in Gray Granite ink.

Stampin' Up! Fable Friends New Baby Gift Set, Tutorial Available - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
Welcoming a new baby to the world is an exciting time for both the parents and friends and family. I've created a gift set that comprises a gift box and coordinating card using  the sweet 'Peter Rabbit' image from the Fable Friends stamp set. The gift box has a ribbon handle and a sweet easel embellishment on the top that can fold down if it needs to be posted. It would make a lovely keepsake box or nursery decor. The box is 5" x  5" x 3 1/2" (12.7cm x 12.7cm x 8.9cm) and easily fits a folded onsie, singlet and booties with room to spare. The coordinating card is sized to fit inside the gift box.

CASE-ing the Catty - Classic Garage

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

There are such a lot of great samples in this section of the Occasions Catalogue and I would loved to have CASE-ed more than one if I had the time. I will have to revisit this again.

CTC223_SU_Sample

In the end,  I decided to go with the card above from page 51 of the Occasions Catalogue, using the Perfectly Paired stamp set. I don't own this set, but a friend kindly let me stamp some images a while ago, so I'm glad to be able to use one.

Stampin' Up! Perfectly Paired - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
The sample image was coloured with watercolour pencils, but I have used my Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers, for a bold and bright result. I have a thick Whisper White card base and then a Balmy Blue mat to create my sky. I dry embossed a piece of Pacific Point card stock with the Seaside Embossing Folder and then cut the top following the curves to give it more depth. I die cut some clouds from Sparkle Glimmer using the Up & Away Thinlits and added the Sparkle Glimmer die cut 'welcome'.  'Baby' was stamped in Pacific Point and double cut with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits to get the length I wanted.

Stampin' Up! Perfectly Paired - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
After colouring the image, I decided to fussy cut it, so I could add my own background. It was a little fiddly, but worth it. When cutting right on the line of the image, I always go around it with a Stampin' Write marker in a slightly lighter colour (I used Smoky Slate this time) to cover any little white bits.

For the inside I have a Balmy Blue mat and some of the Balmy Blue gingham DSP at the bottom. The greeting from the Better Together stamp set is stamped in Pacific Point. The little deer from the retired Made with Love stamp set is the finishing touch.
