CASE-ing the Catty - Celebrating 500 Challenges!
December 15, 2024
Hi there
Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.
We have an absolutely huge hop for you this week, as we celebrate 500 challenges! I joined the Crew in 2015 at about #37 ( I wasn't so methodical with my numbering back then!) and I've still enjoy the challenge, even when it takes me out of my comfort zone! We have lots of past Crew joining us this week, so make sure you settle in with a cuppa and enjoy all the creative inspiration.
If you've come from visiting Monique, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.
For our 500th hop and the last for this year, we are CASE-ing a project of our choice from either the 2024 September-December Mini Catalogue or the 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue. Wow, that makes for a huge choice! I'm still madly trying to make a few more Christmas cards, so I decided to use up some patterned paper that I have left.
I have a 6" x 12" piece of the pretty candy cane border design from the Sentimental Christmas DSP pack that I have been holding onto, so with inspiration from the project above, I turned it into 3 cards.
I wanted to give my cards a bit more pop, so I've chosen some complementary background designs from the Take A Bow DSP pack. This pack has been a workhorse for me this year, as it goes so well with quite a few of the patterned papers. The good news it is staying around for a while longer.
This is the first card I made with the candy cane border on the left. I covered the Basic White card base with the Garden Green & Granny Apple Green spotty design paper and added a Basic White mat to the piece of candy cane paper. The Real Red ribbon was tied vertically around the panel and finished with a bow at the top. I stamped the greeting from the Peaceful Season stamp set in Garden Green and cropped it with the smallest of the Countryside Corners Dies. I popped up the greeting over the ribbon and then popped up the entire panel onto the card base. I finished with some gold adhesive-backed sequins.
For the next card, I've used the straight section of the border in a landscape format card. I've gone with a wider border this time of the candy cane stripe from the Take A Bow DSP, as I needed to leave enough of the candy cane border paper for the 3rd card. I added the Basic White mat and popped up the centre panel and added the Real Red bow to the candy cane. The greetings are both from the Peaceful Season Bundle with the die cut Christmas from Garden Green card stock on the Basic White background. The second greeting was heat embossed in white on Real Red card stock and cropped with a (retired) Stitched Rectangle Die and then popped up.
For the final card, I've used the off-cut of the Garden Green spotty paper to create a border on each side of a Basic White card base. The Basic White border was added to the edges of the candy cane paper and I decided to stamp the greeting from the Peaceful Season stamp set directly onto the DSP before adhering the panel flat to the card base. The Real Red ribbon was tied around the top and finished with a bow. The Merry Christmas from the Reindeer Fun stamp set was heat embossed in white on Real Red card stock and cropped with the banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies (cutting twice to get the length) and popped up. I finished with some gold adhesive-backed sequins.
