Heart of Christmas - Regal Winter

HOC_Header_2024

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week I have gone a little left field! I was looking through the lovely designs of the Regal Winter Designer Series Paper and thought a couple of the designs would work on a Christmas card, so that is what I have created for you today.

What do you think, is it Christmassy? I love the richness of the Pretty Peacock plaid design and the lush colours in the floral design. It is a simple layout that is perfect for using your patterned paper. I cut each design card-front size and then on the diagonal, so you get 2 cards when your designs are not directional. I added a strip of the Cherry Cobbler glimmer from the Festive Glimmer Paper pack across the diagonal for sparkle (it is very sparkly in real life). The 'Christmas' greeting was cropped from Gold Foil using the Peaceful Season Dies and I stamped the 'MERRY' from the Greetings of the Season stamp set in Real Red ink and trimmed it closely and popped it up.  The holly leaves were cropped from Lost Lagoon cardstock using the Hang an Ornament Dies and I sponged the edges with Pretty Peacock ink and add the Cherry Cobbler berries.

For the inside, I have a Pretty Peacock mat for the writing panel and I added a strip of the floral paper on the right and and another set of holly leaves in the corner.

This week we are CASE-ing a Bundle from the 2024 September - December Mini Catalogue. There are a bunch of new bundles to choose from, but I've been enjoying creating with the complete Reindeer Days Suite. It includes the Reindeer Fun Bundle and the Reindeer Days DSP, sweet Red & white Adhesive-Backed Peppermints and other coordinating products.  You have lots of options with the Reindeer Fun Bundle, whether you enjoy colouring or creating the sweet reindeer from die cuts or cropping them from the patterned paper.

My project today is a bit of a mash-up of a lot of the ideas in the photo above. I wanted to use a frame and some of the images from the paper to create a scene.

Stampin' Up! Reindeer Days Suite | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I started by fussy cutting some images from the sheets of patterned paper and playing around with a little scene. The images I cropped had a green background, so I ink blended a piece of Soft Sea Foam card stock with Balmy Blue ink at the top and Granny Apple Green ink at the bottom to allow the images to blend into the background. I decided to create my own frame with the (retired) Stitched Rectangles Dies, but you could do the same thing with the Deckled Rectangles Dies as well (oops, I actually forgot about them until I was flipping through my dies). I created the frame from Pool Party card stock and used Foam Adhesive Strips to adhere it to the ink blended background as you would for a shaker card, but without the Window Sheet or sprinkles.

I offset the frame to the left to allow room for the pretty Irridescent Striped Trim down the right and then adhered the panel to a standard Pool Party card base. The images were adhered to the background with the sweet deer family popped up in the foreground. To add some pop, I adhered the narrow frame in Real Red to bring it all together. The greeting from the Reindeer Fun stamp set was stamped in Real Red, trimmed and adhered to the edge of the frame. The bells were cropped from Gold Foil and adhered under the bow and the fussy cut parcels added to the corner with a little peppermint added to Mama's neck decoration.

For the inside, I have a white writing panel with a strip of the holly print on the right side and a fussy cut deer prancing off the left side. It's a great way to use up partial images.

Heart of Christmas - More Season of Green & Gold

HOC_Header_2024

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects. I can't believe we are already on week 8 and there are less than 100 days until Christmas, so there is no time to delay starting your holiday season crafting.

Well, after saying a couple of weeks ago that green isn't a go-to colour for me, I have another green and gold for you card this week. There are so many possibilities with the  Season of Green & Gold Suite products and you could easily create all of your holiday cards with a variety of beautiful designs. If you're looking for some inspiration with these products, head to my Season of Green & Gold Suite Pinterest Board. This card was inspired by one made by Susan Campfield a few months ago. I've created a metric size card and worked out my own version of the mechanism inside the card.

Stampin' Up! Season of Green & Gold Suite | Heart of Christmas | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

The card starts with a Thick Basic White card base in landscape and this time I've used the Old Olive & Mossy Meadow design from the Season of Green & Gold Specialty DSP down the left side with a strip of Gold Foil and then the remaining panel has been embossed with the Dashing Designs 3D Embossing Folder which I'm using for the first time. The sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set was heat embossed in gold and cropped with  the Country Side Corners Dies, along with the Mossy Meadow mat. I added two sprays of the coordinating foliage (mistletoe?) cropped from the paper with a die from the Golden Greenery Dies. I finished with some self-adhesive gold sequins and a bow using the (retired) Satin Edge Ribbon. This is a layout that I've used many times, but it is the inside where things get a little different.

Stampin' Up! Season of Green & Gold Suite | Heart of Christmas | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

On the inside there is a bit of a fancy fold going on, with a a set of Country Side Corners die cuts attached to a flap in the centre of the card. I've decorated the left side with another strip of paper and Gold Foil the same width as the front and lightly added some Old Olive ink to the Basic White die cut with a Blending Brush. On the centre die cut I have another sentiment from the Greetings of the Season stamp set stamped in Mossy Meadow ink with a smaller piece of foliage.

When you turn the centre flap over you have the writing panel. I've decorated the right side in the same way and added the rest of the second foliage die cut that I brushed some Old Olive ink onto. The reverse side of the die cut has the patterned paper adhered to it, but you could leave it plain.

This is another view, showing all of the inside panels.

Heart of Christmas - Reindeer Days

HOC_Header_2024

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week, I'm using a layout that is great for small prints and we have quite a few options in the Mini Catalogue this year. It's also great for using up scraps and makes 6" x 6" paper go a long way.

Stampin' Up! Reindeer Days DSP | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I've combined the small holly print from the Reindeer Days DSP and the red print from the Take A Bow DSP to create a border around the edge of the Pool Party card base.

The Basic White centre panel has been dry embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder and I popped up the sweet reindeer that I fussy cut from a sheet of the Reindeer Days patterned paper. I like to adhere images that I want to pop up onto copy paper first and then fussy cut them. It makes it more sturdy without being difficult to cut out. The Reindeer Fun Dies will crop 2 of the reindeer images from the paper, but there are lots that can be fussy cut.

The 'Merry' is a die cut from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera pack and I advise you to be gentle when removing the die cuts from the frame and be super careful adding small dots of glue to the reverse side, as it isn't possible to use a glue eraser on these fine die cut words.  The 'christmas' from the Greetings of the Season stamp set was heat embossed in white on Garden Green card stock and trimmed closely. I finished with a trio of gold sequins from the Neutrals Adhesive-Backed Sequins pack.

Stampin' Up! Reindeer Days DSP | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

For the inside, there is a Real Red mat for the writing panel with a strip of the holly design down the left side. I have fussy cut a partial reindeer image from the edge of the paper and added it to the corner. This is a great way to ensure these images aren't wasted.

CASE-ing the Catty - A Little Bit Festive

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.

If you've come from visiting Michelle, then welcome!  If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.

This week we are CASE-ing from the new Mix & Match pages in the 2024 September-December Mini Catalogue. These products are designed to make creating super easy with printed card bases or tags, pre-cut images and sentiments that you mix and match to create your cards and tags.

CTC487_Mix_Match

At the moment I only have the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack, so I have created my card with the A Little Bit Festive 12" x 12" Specialty Designer Series Paper. This pack has 6 sheets of patterned paper (1 sheet each of 3 double-sided designs) and 1 each of 3 single-sided printed die-cut images that you pop-out in a very similiar style to the Mix & Match range. The main difference is that you have coordinating patterned paper to use with your die cuts.

I had this pre-cut card base waiting to be used, so it contributed to the design. The Basic White card base has a piece cut from the top edge and I cut another piece of Basic White the same size and dry embossed it with the Snowflake Sky 3D embossing folder and adhered it for the background.

I chose the wreath and the candy canes from the printed pre-cut images and I popped the wreath up on 1mm foam pads to give it a little dimension and then popped up the candy canes on Dimensionals to achieve another level, which you can see in the pic above.  I popped up the greeting from the
Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera Pack under the wreath and added a strip of the red and white stripe design from the A Little Bit Festive Specialty DSP pack at the bottom to tie it all together. To add some sparkle, I popped the (retired) Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels over the berries that were not covered by the candy canes. It was an 'all or nothing' choice as it looked strange with just a few. You can also colour the clear

For the inside, I had the border which continues a little further and I added a narrow strip of Granny Apple Green card stock to top it.  The cute stack of presents in coordinating colours also from the A Little Bit Festive SDSP sheets of die cut designs was added to the bottom corner.

I hope you will give the A Little Bit Festive Specialty DSP or the Mix & Match Ephemera packs a try for your holiday projects this season. I'm sure you will find them a quick and easy solution.
