CASE-ing the Catty - Splendid Autumn Belt & Buckle Fun Fold
September 08, 2024
Hi there
Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.
If you've come from visiting Andrea, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.
This week we are CASE-ing from the new 2024 September-December Mini Catalogue that is now LIVE to customers. We are free to choose any project from the Mini Catalogue, so I thought I'd take a break from holiday projects by using the pcard above for inspiration (although you could totally use the layout for a holiday card, too).
This card uses the pretty Spendid Autumn 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper and I really like that the reverse side has coordinating colour in a soft wash style that makes it super easy to create with.
My card is rectangular rather than square, but hopefully you can see the key elements I've taken from the layout. I've changed it up a bit by making mine into a Belt & Buckle Fun Fold card that uses almost all of the 6" x 6" sheet of paper. I started with a Fresh Freesia card base with the fold at the left side and cut 1" (2.5cm) off the right side. I chose the pretty mauve floral design and cut 1/4" (6mm) off the top (sky) and then the remainder off the bottom to fit my card base with a narrow border. Cut the narrow strip from the right edge and then the larger piece, to keep the design flowing across the card.
Before adhering the narrow strip of patterned paper, I attached the 'belt' to the right edge. It is a 1" (2.5cm) strip of Fresh Freesia card stock that is cut to an arrow shape at the end. To make the belt more flexible I used my Bone Folder to stretch and soften the fibres so it wouldn't crack when flexed. The 'buckle' is a label cropped from Whisper White using the Nested Essentials Dies and the greeting from the So Sincere stamp set was stamped with Mossy Meadow ink. I cut 2 strips from the edge of a sheet of Dimensionals and placed them each side of the label, so the 'belt' could go through the centre. The label was embellished with flowers and foliage cropped with the Country Birdhouse and Country Flowers Dies and I chose Petunia Pop and Garden Green to add contrast and pop. I added Irridescent Pearls to the centre of the flowers and finished with a couple of Brushed Brass Butterflies.
For the inside, I have a Basic White writing panel with a little spray of flowers from the Labeled With Love stamp set stamped in the corner in Garden Green and Petunia Pop ink. The narrow strip at the bottom is the reverse side of the 1/4" strip I took off the top of the sheet. You can see on the right I added a strip of the patterned paper to the reverse side of the 'belt', which adds extra strength as well as being as being decorative.
The card will stand nicely with the belt slightly open as shown above.
