Art With Heart Colour Creations - Summer Splash

Colour_Creations_Blog_Hop

Hi there

I'm joining the ladies from the Art With Heart team this week for the Colour Creations Blog Hop. Every week a colour from the Stampin' Up! Colour Collections is featured to inspire you to get crafty.

Summer_SPlash_Button

The focus colour this week is Summer Splash, which is one of the lovely new 2024-2026 In Colors. This colour is definitely a new favourite and a match made in heaven (IMHO) with Petunia Pop!

Stampin' Up! Unbounded Beauty Suite | Fancy Fold | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I have a simple fun fold card using the Summer Splash and Petunia Pop design from the Unbounded Beauty DSP. These are probably my favourite designs from the pack and the Petunia Pop stripe is the reverse side of the floral, which is both wonderful and terrible depending on the projects you are making, lol.  The card base is Summer Splash and just a standard metric size card, with the extra score line down the centre.

On the right edge of the inside is a 'stopper' panel that neatly holds the card fold in place. I've added the Petunia Pop striped paper to a strip of Summer Splash card stock and popped it up on Dimensionals and the front panel locks under nicely to hold the fold in place, even when upright. I added the white flowers down the stopper panel, cropped with a die from the Flowers of Beauty Dies with a Petunia Pop Shimmer Gem in the centre of each.

The embellishment sits on a platform that allows it to sit flat and pop out when folded. I heat embossed the birthday greeting from the Unbounded Love stamp set in white and cropped it with one of the Spotlight On Nature Dies.  In the space at the top right I added leaves and foliage cropped with dies from the Unbounded Love Dies and finished with a white flower in the centre.

For the inside, there is a white writing panel and I've stamped the complimentary greeting in Petunia Pop ink and added a strip of the floral paper at the base.

Of course, the card folds flat to go into a standard C6 envelope.  The ladies loved making this fun fold card in my May classes.

CTC471_Banner

Have you noticed the card sketches/layouts/templates in the new 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue? They are at the bottom of page 22 and there are 22 different layouts to give you inspiration for your cardmaking. This is a fabulous resource and this week the Crew are choosing one of these sketches for their inspiration.

CTC471_Sketch_19

I've chosen the sketch above for my card today. As soon as I saw it, I knew what I was going to do with it; isn't it funny how that can happen sometimes. As it turns out my card is a variation of my original idea, but I like the extra detail that resulted.

Stampin' Up! Country Birdhouse Bundle | Sketch 19 | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

Instead of taking up the entire card, I've chosen to create a smaller centre panel with the layout, leaving a nice border of the Petunia Pop card base showing.  I used the smallest circle die from the Stylish Shapes Dies to create the 12 openings in the Thick Basic White panel. Yes, there was a ruler involved, lol, but you could probably just 'eyeball' it as well. It was a little more effort than adhering 12 black circles (my original thought), but I like the stitched detail around each circle that you get with this option.

Stampin' Up! Country Birdhouse Bundle | Sketch 19 | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

You can see the stitched detail around the circles more clearly in the photo above. I adhered the panel to Basic Black with a narrow border, giving a bold background to make my sweet flowers pop. The greeting from the Country Birdhouse stamp set was heat embossed in white on a narrow strip of Basic Black and popped up between the sets of circles. I added the panel to the card base with Dimensionals, leaving the flowers to last, so they wouldn't get flattened. I chose 4 colours and cropped the flowers with a die from the Country Birdhouse Dies, using a stylus in the centre of each to add dimension before adding the 3mm rhinestone. I adhered the flowers with a dot of Tombow glue in the centre of each circle, leaving it to go tacky, so it wouldn't squish when I added the flower. Rolled up Mini Glue Dots would work well, too.  I added a little bow in white Baker's Twine and a small version of the flower in corner of the greeting. This satisfied my need to have an odd number of flowers on the card!

Stampin' Up! Countrybird House | Sketch 19 | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

For the inside, I have cut the writing panel at the same size as the focus panel on the front, with a narrow border of Basic Black. The birthday greeting from the Country Birdhouse stamp set was stamped in Petunia Pop ink and a little cluster of flowers adhered flat in the corner.

As my husband said when I showed the card to him, 'that's different'! Yes, it's a bit different to my normal style, but I like the fun graphic look for a change.

Flowering Zinnias Fancy Fold

Hi there

The Flowering Zinnias DSP from the Online Exclusives range has to be 0ne of my favourite paper packs. The colours are simply gorgeous - bright, summery and they make you smile.

In the pack is this fabulous sheet that provides 2 border strips. It would be fabulous as a border on a scrapbook page or of course, cut into card fronts.

Simply_Zinnias_DSP

However, I wanted to use the complete border or most of it at least and this design by Rachel Tessman fitted the bill perfectly.

Stampin' Up! Flowering Zinnias DSP | Twist Corner Tri-Fold Card | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

Rachel has named it the Twist Corner Tri-fold card. It starts in portrait style as you see in the photo above, but morphs into a tri-fold landscape card that displays the beautiful Zinnia border. I've changed up the measurements to be closer to a metric size card and made the message panel a little larger as well. I love that the bright Lemon Lime Twist print on the reverse side is also displayed and I've used it as an accent together with a pop of Berry Burst.

Stampin' Up! Flowering Zinnias DSP | Twist Corner Tri-Fold Card | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

When you open the front panel and turn it to landscape the border starts to unfold. I've used my favourite birthday greeting from the Unbounded Love stamp set and cropped it with the pierced label die from the Unbounded Love Dies and trimmed it with another label cropped from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. The Berry Burst panel on the right has been dry embossed with the cross-hatch design from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders and embellished with a fussy cut Zinnia from another of the sheets. The narrow strip of Lemon Lime Twist print is the piece I cut off the border panel to form the card base, so all 12" (30.5cm) of the border has been used.

The photo above shows the card fully extended. I've added an embossed strip trimmed with Lemon Lime Twist to host the 'Celebrate' cropped from Berry Burst card stock using the Wanted To Say Dies.  The writing panel is trimmed with a Lemon Lime Twist mat and another fussy cut Zinnia. Lots of Brushed Brass Butterflies have been sprinkled around the flowers.

This card has a real 'wow' and the ladies enjoyed making it in our class last week.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Mix & Match section of the new Annual Catalogue. Mix & Match is a brand new set of products for creating, made easy. Select a set of cards & envelopes with printed backgrounds and matching envelopes and add an emphemera pack or two.

Mix-&-Match

There are 4 ephemera packs to choose from:

  • Saying Something - die cut greetings of all sizes and shapes,
  • Labels & Layers - die cut labels and layering pieces
  • Fully flowering - floral and foliage die cuts
  • Something For Everything - die cut images for all occasions

You can click on the image above to go to my Online Store and see the ephemera packs in more detail.

CTC469_SU_Sample

I chose the image above from page 21 for my inspiration this week. This project uses a card base and envelope from the Calming Creek Cards & Envelopes and elements from 2 of the ephemera packs. This is a great layout that lends itself to lots of different occasions and embellishments.

Stampin' Up! Playing In The Rain & Thoughtful Journey DSP | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I've used a cute critter on my card as well, but mine is the sweet rabbit from the Playing In The Rain stamp set. But first I decided on a design from the lovely Thoughtful Journey DSP for the background to provide some ground and sky for my outdoor scene. The greeting from the retired Beautiful Balloons stamp set was stamped in black ink on Basic White and cropped with the largest banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies

Stampin' Up! Playing In The Rain & Thoughtful Journey DSP | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I stamped the bunny and the clumps of flowers in Basic Gray ink on Basic White and coloured them with Stampin' Blends. The images were cropped with the coordinating Playing In The Rain Dies. I positioned and adhered the banner flat and then the rabbit was popped up and the flowers positioned around him. I fussy cut a single flower to pop up at the end of the banner. I added a couple of dragonlflies around the flowers and finished with a trio of Petunia Pop resin dots.

Stampin' Up! Playing In The Rain & Thoughtful Journey DSP | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

For the inside, I have a Petunia Pop mat for the writing panel and I stamped the clump of flowers in the corner and coloured them the same as the front of the card. I will add a another greeting inside the card when I know the occasion.

Getting Blue with Countryside Inn

Hi there

Blue and white is a favourite colour combo and I have LOTS of blue and white china that I have collected over the years on display in my house (and in cupboards, lol). It just looks so fresh  and calming, I think. Did you know that the beautiful Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper has carried over to the 2024-2025 Annual Catalogue? This doesn't happen very often, but it gives us more time to use these lovely prints in white and shades of blue.

Stampin' Up! Countryside Inn DSP

In my recent class we made a card with this lovely paper and I CASED the design from Josee Smuck and made a few small changes.

Stampin' Up! Countryside Inn & Layering Leaves Bundle | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

I started with a Thick Basic White card base and added a layer of Night of Navy cardstock over the top before layering on the pretty floral print that was matted onto Boho Blue cardstock.

Stampin' Up! Countryside Inn & Layering Leaves Bundle | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

The art panel is a simple and elegant of collection of foliage from the Layering Leaves stamp set. The solid image is stamped onto the panel with Night of Navy ink and the other 2 with open leaves stamped onto Boho Blue cardstock and cropped with the Bough Punch. The smaller buds are also cropped with the Bough Punch from the Adhesive-Backed Gold Glimmer Paper. The greeting from Layering Leaves stamp set was heat embossed in white on Night of Navy card cardstock, cropped with the banner die from the Stylish Shapes Dies and popped up across the base of the leaves. The finished panel was matted onto Night of Navy and popped up onto the card base and finished with Boho Blue 2023-25 In Color Dots.

Stampin' Up! Countryside Inn & Layering Leaves Bundle | Judy May | Just Judy Designs

For the inside, there is a Boho Blue mat for the writing panel and a strip of the striped design from Countryside Inn at the bottom with 2 pieces of foliage tucked in.
