CASE-ing the Catty - Bee Mine Section
January 21, 2024
Hi there
Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty for this week.
If you've come from visiting Monique, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.
This week we are taking inspiration from the Bee Mine section of the 2024 January-April Mini Catalogue, which is on pages 8 - 13. There are lots of cute samples here for projects where you want to send love.
I've chosen the project above from page 9 of the 2024 January-April Mini Catalogue for my inspiration, as the cute 3D frame caught my eye.
I'm not sure of the size of the sample made by the Stampin' Up! concept artist, but the finished size of mine is 5" (12.7cm) square and the inside space is 4" (10.2cm) square. That means a starting size of 9" (22.9cm) square of the Sweet Sorbet design from the Bee Mine Designer Paper. Once you know the principles of how the frame is made you can adjust the size as desired. I have a tutorial available for a rectangular version, but the construction process is the same whether the frame is square or rectangular.
Once the frame is made, it is all about the decoration. I added a layer of the sweet floral into the centre. I stamped the greeting from the Heartfelt Hexagon stamp set with Poppy Parade ink on Basic White and cropped it with the coordinating Heartfelt Hexagon Punch. I cropped another in Pool Party and cut it in half to frame the greeting at the top and bottom. To give my greeting some focus, I popped it up on a Vellum circle cropped with the Deckled Circles Dies. The cute bees were fussy cut from other sheets of the Bee Mine Designer Paper and popped up at the corners. I added some foliage in Granny Apple Green cropped with a die from the Thoughtful Expressions Dies. I adhered the embellishment in the centre of the frame, with Glue Dots adhered on the back of the Vellum circle where they couldn't be seen and finished with a couple of Petal Pink flowers from the Adhesive-Backed Hearts & Flowers embellishments.
On the reverse of the frame, I have white writing panel and the flowers from the Bee My Valentine stamp set were stamped in coordinating colours of Petal Pink, Pool Party and Sweet Sorbet on Lemon Lime Twist stems. The panel was added to a Pool Party mat and adhered to the frame.
I'll be sending this to my Mum who is unwell at the moment and I hope it will bring a smile to her face.
