Heart of Christmas - Week 14

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

It's been a busy week, so I have created a simple card with the Traditions of St. Nick designer paper doing the heavy lifting.

Stampin' Up! Traditions of St. Nick DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I started with a Thick Basic White card base and added a layer of the red plaid paper from the Joy of Christmas pack to provide a contrast to the muted St. Nick in his green coat.  I cropped St. Nick from the paper with my trimmer and added a narrow border of Garden Green. I added the panel to a piece of Basic White, intending to stamp the greeting at the bottom. However, the panel was a bit narrow for the greetings I wanted to use, so I added the strip of Garden Green at the bottom. I stamped my favourite greeting from the Wishes All Around stamp set in Real Red and fussy cut it and popped it up on the Garden Green panel.

To add some more interest, I roughly cut another St. Nick image from the paper and adhered it to Basic White card stock and then fussy cut it and popped it up over the panel. I cropped some stars from Gold Glimmer using the Cracker & Treat Box Dies and added them to the top of the trees and finished with a trio of gold Festive Pearls.

For the inside I have a mat of Garden Green and a strip of the red plaid at the bottom. I fussy cut a tree from the paper and added it to the writing panel with a Gold Glimmer star on the top.

A beautiful card both inside and out Judy. I take my hat off to your 'fussy cutting' skills. Mine leave a lot to be desired. I can understand why it is your favourite greeting as it looks fabulous when cut out and adhered with dimension.

The DSP is just perfect for the "heavy lifting" on this card. A very lovely traditional card Judy!

A really lovely card, Judy. The fussy cut greeting is a lovely touch.

Judy, what a great card using these papers. I love how the white panel behind is one piece and the feature and the sentiment are matted individually on the green card. Your fussy cutting of that sentiment is perfection.

That's a fair bit of fussy-cutting and assembly, for a "simple" card, Judy! I like how you cut a second St Nicholas from the paper, and raised it up to give the main panel some dimension. The sentiment looks lovely fussy-cut, too. I like the contrast of the bright, bold, plaid paper in the background.
