Heart of Christmas - Joy of Noel

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to final  week of Heart of Christmas for 2023. I hope you have enjoyed the seasonal inspiration from the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team.

Stampin' Up! Joy of Noel with Merry & Bright | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

My day didn't go as planned, but no matter, I have a quick and easy card for you, which we all need as we near the time when cards have to go into the post. I have a white on white card, with the top layer dry embossed with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder and added to a mat with a very tiny border and then popped up onto the Basic White card base.

I stamped the spray from Joy of Noel with Basic Gray ink so it wouldn't look quite so heavy and then coloured it with Stampin' Blends Markers in Shaded Spruce, Granny Apple Green and Real Red. At the top, I created a bit more of a stem, where I could attach my sweet gingham bow. Some pine branches cropped from Vellum Cardstock were tucked under the spray to add some interest.  Finally, the greeting from the Merry and Bright stamp set was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and fussy cut and adhered flat and popped up.

I'm heading off to visit family in Western Australia for a few weeks, but I hope to be back with a few more seasonal cards before the big man arrives!

Heart of Christmas - Traditions of St. Nick

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

Can you believe this is week 16 and our penultimate week of holiday season inspiration! I'm pleased that I've made it every week but one and have a nice stash of Christmas cards to send out in the first week of December.

Today's card is nothing like the one I pictured in my head, but I'm happy with how it turned out. I love the old world charm of the Traditions of St. Nick DSP with the rich colours and brocade designs. St. Nick is where our tradition of gift giving originated and resonates more with me than some of the contemporary Christmas options we have.

Stampin' Up! Traditions of St. Nick DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

Normally I start with a card base, but today I ended up with the Gray Granite card base as it isn't as stark as white and I think it works with the rich tones of Mossy Meadow and Cherry Cobbler. I have a Basic White Deckled Rectangle and I added a puddle with Pebbled Path Stampin' Blend marker for St. Nick to stand in and splattered the background with Pebbled Path ink to age it a litte. St. Nick was fussy cut after adhering the roughtly cut image to Basic White and the panel was added to the Mossy Meadow brocade panel.

I added a strip of the red brocade to ground the rectangle and create the border for the greeting below. I wanted a bit of sparkle, so I added a narrow strip of the Adhesive-Backed Gold Glimmer across the centre. The trees were fussy cut from the paper and adhered flat apart from the small one at the front that was popped up. The greeting from the Wishes All Around stamp set was stamped in Real Red and fussy cut and popped up on Foam Adhesive Strip.

This week we are taking inspiration from a Punch project from the 2023 September-December Mini Catalogue

CTC446_SU_Sample
I made it all the way to the Bundle Index on page 72 to find the project above for my inspiration. It uses the Sparkling Snowflakes Tag Topper Punch to create the greeting label.

I'm still on a quest to use up my holiday papers, so I pulled out the sheet with the presents design from the Beary Christmas DSP for my all-over background. I added the panel to a Very Vanilla Thick card base with a narrow border to provide a little contrast to the busy design.

I've created a banner for my greeting with the MERRY from the More Wishes stamp set stamped 3 times in Real Red, Old Olive and Balmy Blue using the hinged stamping technique on the Stamparatus to get a perfect line up.  I tied the bow around the top and popped up the banner on the card and then popped up the fussy cut 'christmas' over the top.

For the inside, I have a Balmy Blue mat with a strip of the presents paper at the bottom and the writing panel above. I also fussy cut the tree from the edge of another sheet of the Beary Christmas DSP. I had an 'oops' moment when I realised I had put a white writing panel instead of Very Vanilla, but I don't think matters; I quite like the contrast.

I'm very happy to have another two Christmas cards in my stash! This is a simple layout that is perfect for mass producing and using busy background paper.  Just pick the colours from the paper and get stamping!

Heart of Christmas - Shining Brightly Christmas Gift Set

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

As we get closer to the pointy end of the holiday craft season, I've been thinking about small gift options for neighbours, customers and people like my hairdresser and beautician who have provided great service during the year.

Stampin' Up! Shining Brightly Christmas Gift Set | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

So, I created this cute gift bag with a piece of 6" x 12" Shining Brightly Specialty Designer Series Paper. The finished size is 4 3/4" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/4" (12cm x 11.4cm x 3.2cm). You can use directional paper as well, as the bag folds around horizontally and it easily fits a full 120g bag of Lindt balls, a large gingerbread cookie or the small square box of Guylian Shells. I filled this bag with the Limited Edition Mint Collection Lindt balls.

I've added a strip of the Adhesive-Backed Gold Glimmer Paper at the top, which adds a sparkly contrast and strength to the top section where the handles are located. The Christmas greeting from the Brightest Glow stamp set was heat embossed in gold onto Night of Navy card stock and cropped with one of the Tailor Made Tags Dies and I popped a sparkly holly leaf on the corner and it's held in place with a Dimensional.

I created a simple coordinating 4" square card to fit into the gift bag, using the same materials, with the greeting from the Wishes All Around stamp set stamped in Night of Navy ink and finished with gold Festive Pearls

This gift set would look lovely created with many of our 12" x 12" papers from the holiday Mini Catalogue. For those that may be interested, I'll have a tutorial available shortly.

This week we are taking inspiration from a project in the Garden Walk section of  the 2023 September-December Mini Catalogue

CTC445_SU_Sample
I've used the sample above from page 54 of the Mini Catalogue for the inspiration for my card, today.

Stampin' Up! Be Mine Suite | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
Yesterday, we had the Stampin' Up! OnStage At Home event to celebrate the 35th Anniversary of the company. We also had our first look at the forthcoming 2024 January-April Mini Catalogue and Sale-a-bration brochure. We watched some great presentations on a selection of the new suites that are coming and got to craft along with the new Bee Mine Suite Collection.  I used the opportunity to create today's card with some of the products from the suite. I started with a Pool Party card base and added the pretty floral paper from the Bee Mine Designer Series Paper with a narrow border of the coordinating striped paper that is on the reverse side.

I don't have the Modern Oval Punch, so I used the rounded rectangle from the Nested Essentials Dies to crop the Sweet Sorbet design with the bee trails. I adhered it to another cut from Basic White to make it more robust to pop up over the Pool Party ribbon. The greeting from the Textured Floral stamp set seemed very appropriate, so I stamped it in Sweet Sorbet ink and cropped it with a decorative die from the All That Dies set. The cute bees were fussy cut from another sheet of the designer paper and I popped them up around the greeting. I finished with a Petal Pink heart from the coordinating Adhesive-Backed Hearts & Flowers.

For the inside, I have carried through the same layout as the front with the writing panel trimmed with a narrow border of the striped designer paper and some of the floral paper at the bottom. I added a different fussy cut bee in the top right corner.
