Heart of Christmas - Merriest Trees

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week I have a card featuring the Merriest Trees Dies. I finally caved on this bundle and I don't know why I waited so long! I'm channeling Artisan Tammy Wilson who made a gorgeous card with ink blended trees in Pretty Peacock and Granny Apple Green. I decided to try it with Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green, watercoloured to get some nice variation in colour for my trees. Note to Self: don't get too creative when you're short on time!

I started with a Thick Basic White card base and then dry embossed another panel with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder for some background texture.

I've used 3 layers for the trees that I die cut from my watercoloured panels and adhered them together with 1mm foam pads for a little dimension. I've decorated the first tree with gold sequins and die cut the 2 piece star from the Gold Glimmer. The second tree has the strings of beads cropped with the die from the Merriest Trees Dies. These are so easy with the Adhesive-Backed Glimmer Paper. The greeting is from the Joy of Noel stamp set, stamped in Shaded Spruce ink and fussy cut. I'm not sure about the greeting, maybe it should have been in a contrasting colour?

Heart of Christmas - Joy of Christmas

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.  My gosh, can you believe it is already week 1o!

The Joy of Christmas DSP is one of my favourites of the offerings for the holidays this year. I've used almost all of the prints apart from the beautiful large scale print, so this week it was my mission to use the 6" x 12" panel I had left from a team paper share.

I wanted a really simple layout that would let the paper be the hero. I cut the panel into 3 card front pieces and adhered to them to Shaded Spruce card bases, which was the option I liked best. I decided on a strip of Gold Foil as a background for the NOEL and adhered the letters flat so I could pop up the fussy cut 'Joyous'. I liberally sprinkled gold sequins to tie in with the Gold Foil.

For the inside, I have a strip of the red plaid paper at the bottom and the writing panel above. I partially stamped the spray from the Joy of Noel stamp set and coloured it with Stampin' Blends.

Here are the finished cards and the NOEL in 3 colour ways!

Heart of Christmas - More Wishes All Around

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.  My gosh, can you believe it is already week 1o!

This week I have another card with the Wishes All Around Bundle, this time a simple fancy fold using the tree wreath.

I think this fancy fold is called a Double Gate Fold and it is perfect for using your 6" x 12" sheets of patterned paper. It works best with an all over design and a strong contrast on the reverse. I have used the holly design from the Shining Christmas Specialty Paper that is in the Online Exclusives section of the Online Store. It is quite hard to photograph with all the shininess, but it is very pretty in real life. I have used the 6" x 12" sheet as is, but you can cut it down to the normal metric size if you like. The finished card fits into a metric Medium Envelope and stands for display.

For the centre embellishment that keeps the card closed, I have stamped the tree wreath in Mossy Meadow ink and adhered it to a Foam Adhesive Sheet and then cropped it with the coordinating die.  The greeting was stamped and cropped with a circle from the Deckled Circles Dies - there is one almost the exact size and the tree wreath was adhered over it. It adds a lovely dimension to the embellishment, which I adhered to a Gold Glimmer circle also cropped with the next size Deckled Circle Die. I could have used the wreath by itself, but I do love the sparkle of the glimmer paper when it catches the light.

This photo gives you a better view of the entire card and how it unfolds. I have used a Mossy Meadow mat with a strip of the holly paper at the bottom, with a space to create the border and then the writing panel. You can see how only half of the embellishment is adhered to the front fold.

This week we are taking inspiration from a project in the 2023-2024 Annual Catalogue and giving it a twist

CTC441_SU_Sample
I chose the pretty package in the photo above for my inspiration. My twist is that I have turned an embellished gift box into a Christmas card.

I started with a Thick Basic White card base and cut a card-front sized panel from Basic White and adhered the FA LA LA LA... design from the Merry Bold & Bright DSP.  Because it is rather bold paper and my embellishments are quite open, I decided to add a layer of Vellum over the top.  I rounded the corners to coordinate with the rounded rectangle die I used for the greeting. The pretty Iridescent Ribbon was laid across the centre and secured it at the back and the panel was adhered to the card base.

The greeting from the Joy to You stamp set was stamped in Real Red, Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce. The centre line was stamped separately and trimmed and then popped up over the top. I cropped it with the largest of the rounded rectangles from the Nested Essentials Dies. I cut it a second time to reduce the width. My pine branches, foliage and holly were layered around the end of the greeting as it worked better than just in the corner. The holly was cropped from Gold Foil and the berries from Real Red Glimmer from last year's Real Red & White 6" x 6" Glimmer Paper pack. I finished with the bow at the of the greeting which is so sparkly in the light and a sprinkle of gold sequins.

For the inside, I have added a Granny Apple Green mat and a strip of the FA LA LA LA... paper down the side, leaving a narrow border in between.

Heart of Christmas - Wishes All Around

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.  My gosh, can you believe it is already week 1o!

This week I have the same card in 2 shapes, using the fabulous Wishes All Around Bundle

Stampin' Up! Wishes All Around Bundle | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
My first thought was to make a square card, as I think wreaths look great on square cards, but decided to make the standard size and shape first. So I started with a Thick Basic White card base and added a layer of the Shaded Spruce & Gold Foil plaid paper from the Joyful Specialty DSP.  I love the vibrancy of Shaded Spruce for holiday cards and the touch of gold is so pretty.

The background to the wreath is another piece of Basic White dry embossed with the cross-hatch design from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders. I butted up the narrow strip of Gold Glimmer, which is so easy now that it is adhesive-backed.  The detailed wreath from Wishes All Around Dies was cropped 3 times in Real Red, Shaded Spruce and Gold Glimmer and layered together, alternating the design so all the colours peek through. I added little dots of Tombow just around the centre circle, waited for it to go tacky and added it to the card. My favourite greeting was heat embossed in white on Real Red card stock, fussy cut and popped up on 1mm foam pads. I decided to keep it clean and simple without any further embellishment and it is super sparkly in real life. This makes it a great card for making multiples and for posting, as it isn't too lumpy!

So now to the square version, which is my standard 13.5cm and the art panel is 10cm square. As I have less white space, I decided to leave the background plain this time.

For the inside, I have a Real Red mat with a strip of Shaded Spruce plaid at the bottom and I've stamped the small tree at each side of the writing panel, above.

I'd love to know which shape you prefer, leaving aside that the square one costs more to post (sad face).
