Heart of Christmas - Wishes All Around
October 09, 2023
Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects. My gosh, can you believe it is already week 1o!
This week I have the same card in 2 shapes, using the fabulous Wishes All Around Bundle.
My first thought was to make a square card, as I think wreaths look great on square cards, but decided to make the standard size and shape first. So I started with a Thick Basic White card base and added a layer of the Shaded Spruce & Gold Foil plaid paper from the Joyful Specialty DSP. I love the vibrancy of Shaded Spruce for holiday cards and the touch of gold is so pretty.
The background to the wreath is another piece of Basic White dry embossed with the cross-hatch design from the Basics 3D Embossing Folders. I butted up the narrow strip of Gold Glimmer, which is so easy now that it is adhesive-backed. The detailed wreath from Wishes All Around Dies was cropped 3 times in Real Red, Shaded Spruce and Gold Glimmer and layered together, alternating the design so all the colours peek through. I added little dots of Tombow just around the centre circle, waited for it to go tacky and added it to the card. My favourite greeting was heat embossed in white on Real Red card stock, fussy cut and popped up on 1mm foam pads. I decided to keep it clean and simple without any further embellishment and it is super sparkly in real life. This makes it a great card for making multiples and for posting, as it isn't too lumpy!
So now to the square version, which is my standard 13.5cm and the art panel is 10cm square. As I have less white space, I decided to leave the background plain this time.
For the inside, I have a Real Red mat with a strip of Shaded Spruce plaid at the bottom and I've stamped the small tree at each side of the writing panel, above.
I'd love to know which shape you prefer, leaving aside that the square one costs more to post (sad face).

Two lovely variations to the colourful wreaths, I do like the traditional Christmas colours on your cards.

Both great cards, Judy, but I do love the square design with the wreath. Love the touches of gold and the SDSP.

A beautiful square card, Judy. It's my favourite shaped card. Lots of gorgeous sparkle and your layered wreath is really lovely.

Beautiful!!! I love how you layered the three colors. Excellent idea! Simple but with a big wow factor.
Thanks for sharing!

Both cards are so lovely Judy and as always perfectly balanced. The embossing folder you have used on the first card is a perfect subtle choice. The new adhesive backed glimmer paper makes adhering those wreaths so much easier.

A beautiful wreath Judy with each coloured layer peaking through and leaving the gold gpimmer on the top layer is a brilliant choice. I love both cards and the colours you have chosen but slightly prefer the standard card design with the green plaid panels top and bottom,

I do really like your square cards with wreaths on the front, but I have to say my favourite out of these two is the first (standard-sized) card, Judy. I think that by breaking up the background with a little more white, the foiled background paper really shines (pun intended, ha ha). I love the thin strips of gold glimmer paper.

Wow, triple layer wreaths! These look amazing Judy.

Two fabulous cards, Judy! I agree that Shaded Spruce and Gold Glimmer are a wonderful combo for Christmas. I think I actually like the standard card a little better, but it's a close race!
