Heart of Christmas - Merriest Trees

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week I have a card featuring the Merriest Trees Dies. I finally caved on this bundle and I don't know why I waited so long! I'm channeling Artisan Tammy Wilson who made a gorgeous card with ink blended trees in Pretty Peacock and Granny Apple Green. I decided to try it with Shaded Spruce and Granny Apple Green, watercoloured to get some nice variation in colour for my trees. Note to Self: don't get too creative when you're short on time!

I started with a Thick Basic White card base and then dry embossed another panel with the Snowflake Sky 3D Embossing Folder for some background texture.

I've used 3 layers for the trees that I die cut from my watercoloured panels and adhered them together with 1mm foam pads for a little dimension. I've decorated the first tree with gold sequins and die cut the 2 piece star from the Gold Glimmer. The second tree has the strings of beads cropped with the die from the Merriest Trees Dies. These are so easy with the Adhesive-Backed Glimmer Paper. The greeting is from the Joy of Noel stamp set, stamped in Shaded Spruce ink and fussy cut. I'm not sure about the greeting, maybe it should have been in a contrasting colour?

Judy your watercolored trees are beautiful and look wonderful against the embossed background. I love your fussy cut greeting and your choice of different decorations for each of the trees.

Beautiful cards. I love the watercolored trees, and I think the sentiment is perfect. (I'm envious of your fussy cutting skills!)

A gorgeous Christmas Tree card Judy. I love your water-coloured trees with Granny Apple Green & Shaded Spruce - beautiful. And the gold decorations with sequins & glimmer paper - delightful. Your sentiment in Shaded Spruce looks lovely - it tones in with the trees but looks darker. xxx

Judy your water-colouring looks fabulous using two ink colours in green tones. Love the depth this creates. The different gold elements on your card are beautiful.

This is quite a departure from your usual style, Judy! Beautiful card ... those watercoloured trees look like they were a heap of fun to create. I think the sentiment is lovely in that colour.
