Heart of Christmas - Merry & Bright Bundle

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week I have a bright, fun card using the Merry & Bright Bundle. I don't own this bundle (and now I'm very tempted!), but a friend came over to stamp on Saturday afternoon and I was able to die cut some elements to put this card together.

I decided on a slimline card, so I would have plenty of room for the string of lights I had in mind. I got out my blending brushes and chose some colours from the coordinating designer paper and ink blended the background. Then to mute the colour, I added the striped vellum from the Vellum Basics Specialty Paper.

The bulbs were die cut from card stock in the same group of colours, the tops from Silver Foil and the filaments from black card stock that I added Adhesive Sheet to first.  After deciding on the positioning of the 'string' I threaded the bulbs on and adhered them with 1mm foam pads for a little dimension. The greeting from the Merry & Bright stamp set was stamped in black, fussy cut and popped up on Dimensionals. I coloured some of the white sequins from the Adhesive-Backed Sequins Trio pack with Stampin' Blends in the same colours and liberally sprinkled them around the panel. The finished piece was adhered to a Basic Black slimline card with a very narrow border. It will fit into a standard business size envelope in Australia.

I adhered a panel of Basic White to the inside and as there is plenty of space, I added another string in the corner and threaded a couple of lights on to it.

Stampin' Up! All About Autumn

This week we are taking our inspiration from the All About Autumn Suite on pages 42 - 47 of the Mini Catalogue. I know for us in Australia, we are in Spring and heading to Summer, so Autumn is long way from our thoughts. However, that doesn't matter so much when you look at the possibilities of the beautiful All About Autumn 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper. On one side are photographs of lots of outdoorsy things, plus books, textures and woodgrain looks and on the other are beautiful small designs with Copper Foil detailing. These are suitable for many occasions and they look very lush. Overall, I think this is the perfect paper for masculine cards, but there are some pretty Moody Mauve designs with the copper foil detail as well.

When I saw the project above on page 42, I immediately thought it would make a great sympathy card. They are difficult to make when you need them, so I like to have a few in my stash.

I started with the geometric design in Copper Clay with copper foil accents for the background, covering the Very Vanilla card base. I cut down the sunburst design and matted it on Very Vanilla card stock so it would pop from the background. The panel was adhered with 1mm foam pads to add a little dimension.

The greeting is from the new Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle that has been released for World Cardmaking Day in October and is available for anyone to purchase right now. The greeting was stamped in Copper Clay ink and cropped with the smallest of the Deckled Rectangles Dies. I don't have the coordinating copper ribbon, so I used some copper trim from my stash coiled up behind the greeting. I finished with 2 sprigs of foliage cropped from the Distressed Gold Specialty Paper to work with the gold tones in the image.

For the inside, I have added a piece of Very Vanilla card stock with a narrow border and adhered some of the remaining starburst image on the left, with a narrow trim of the Copper Clay foiled design.

Heart of Christmas - Christmas Classics

Blog_Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

This week I have a card in traditional colours, using the Christmas Classics Bundle.

Stampin' Up! Christmas Classics Bundle | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I think the square frame is perfect for a shaker card, so I cropped it from Gold Foil and framed it with the lovely Shaded Spruce design from the Joy of Christmas DSP

I added lots of the sweet Loose Holly Gems & Sequins to the shaker element and adhered it to Basic White mat. To add some interest to the background, I have dry embossed a panel of Real Red card stock with the cross-hatch design from ta he Basics 3D Embossing Folders and adhered it to the Real Red square card base with a narrow border. The greeting from the Wishes All Around stamp set was heat embossed in white on Real Red card stock and then fussy cut. I've popped it up across the centre of the frame.  There is a lot going on, but I feel like there is something missing? Let me know what you think.

This week we are taking inspiration from the O Holy Night Suite from the September - December Mini Catalogue. This is one of my favourites in this catalogue.

I've chosen the project in the photo above from page 14 for my inspiration. It is a gift/treat box and I've used the layout to create a card.

Stampin' Up! Delightful Floral DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

Surprise! I decided to give you a break from Christmas cards this week and instead used some of the gorgeous new Delightful Floral DSP. If you haven't seen this yet, check it out in a large format in the Online Exclusives section of my Online Store. This paper coordinates with the Translucent Florals Bundle from the Mini Catalogue. It is a 'while stocks last item', so if you love it, don't risk being disappointed.

When I'm using ribbon wrapped around the front of the card, I always start with a card size panel of Basic White and adhere the floral paper to this panel. The background label was created by cutting the label die from the Stars At Night Dies twice from Berry Burst shimmer paper from the Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper pack. Three of the colours from the Soft Shimmer Specialty Paper coordinate with the Delightful Floral DSP, so you might want to consider it, as it is super pretty. The straight edge of the labels face each other and then move them apart to create your preferred border on the greeting circle. The Pretty Peacock strip across the centre hides the gap between the labels. I used the Pretty Peacock wash design from the paper pack and adhered it to Pretty Peacock card stock to make it more robust.

I added a strip of the gorgeous 1/2" Iridescent Ribbon across the centre of the Pretty Peacock strip and adhered behind the panel. The greeting from the Layering Leaves set was stamped in Berry Burst ink and cropped with the second largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies. The matting circle from Parakeet Party was cropped with the (retired) 2 1/4" Circle Punch. The finished label was popped up over the Berry Burst label and I added some Lost Lagoon and white foliage cropped with the Layering Leaves Dies. I finished with a bow on the side using the Iridescent Ribbon and hopefully you can see some of the shine in the photo above. Unfortunately, it cannot do it justice as it is so pretty in real life.

The inside is very simple, with a slightly smaller panel of Basic White, trimmed with the floral paper on the right and a narrow border of the Berry Burst Soft Shimmer paper. I can add another greeting when I know the occasion I'm using the card for.

CASE-ing the Catty - A Walk In The Forest DSP

Hi there

Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty this week.

This week we are taking inspiration from the A Walk In The Forest DSP. Every year Stampin' Up! does a giveback to the local community and $4.25 AUD will be donated for every pack of this DSP sold. This year, we’re supporting AngliCare’s Toys n’ Tucker in Australia.

This paper has some lovely designs for Christmas crafting or combine it with complementary colours and use it to make cards for all the outdoorsy people in your life. If they’re into camping, hiking, mountain climbing, or other outdoor adventures, they’ll appreciate the lovely nature-inspired images

Many of us have found ourselves in circumstances where we’ve needed some extra help and have been so grateful for the generosity of others. And we hope that you will join us in our efforts to give back!

Stampin' Up! Handcrafted Elements Dies & A Walk In The Forest DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

The sample cards are pretty basic, so I've started with a Thick Basic White card base. The focus panel has my favourite design with the berries, matted on Real Red card stock with a narrow border. I've left a wider border of white showing, although not as wide as the sample.

I've used the bauble from the Handcrafted Elements Dies for my embellishment, cropping it from Gold Foil. You can see the lovely embossed detail in the photo above. The centre of the bauble is a separate piece and I cropped that from Real Red card stock and adhered it behind the bauble. I cropped it again from Gold Foil and adhered it behind the red, so you can see the gold popping through. The Gold 1/8" Trim was threaded through the loop and adhered behind the panel and a red bow adhered at the top of the loop with a glue dot. Strips of Foam Adhesive Strip were used to pop up the bauble. The lovely script greeting from the Wishes All Around stamp set was stamped in Real Red ink and adhered at the bottom of the panel. The finished panel was adhered flat to the card base.

I've kept the inside simple, with the same width border as the front, with the writing panel sitting on a Real Red mat with a strip of the DSP at the base.
