Heart of Christmas - Merry & Bright Bundle
September 25, 2023
Welcome to another week of Heart of Christmas. Each week, the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.
This week I have a bright, fun card using the Merry & Bright Bundle. I don't own this bundle (and now I'm very tempted!), but a friend came over to stamp on Saturday afternoon and I was able to die cut some elements to put this card together.
I decided on a slimline card, so I would have plenty of room for the string of lights I had in mind. I got out my blending brushes and chose some colours from the coordinating designer paper and ink blended the background. Then to mute the colour, I added the striped vellum from the Vellum Basics Specialty Paper.
The bulbs were die cut from card stock in the same group of colours, the tops from Silver Foil and the filaments from black card stock that I added Adhesive Sheet to first. After deciding on the positioning of the 'string' I threaded the bulbs on and adhered them with 1mm foam pads for a little dimension. The greeting from the Merry & Bright stamp set was stamped in black, fussy cut and popped up on Dimensionals. I coloured some of the white sequins from the Adhesive-Backed Sequins Trio pack with Stampin' Blends in the same colours and liberally sprinkled them around the panel. The finished piece was adhered to a Basic Black slimline card with a very narrow border. It will fit into a standard business size envelope in Australia.
I adhered a panel of Basic White to the inside and as there is plenty of space, I added another string in the corner and threaded a couple of lights on to it.

Ah Judy your card is very much Merry and Bright and I really love it. I especially love how you have muted the colours by the addition of the vellum. Very effective.

What a lovely idea to overlay your blended colours with the vellum, Judy. I love the pretty non-traditional colour palette. A gorgeous card.

Judy, that background is magnificent behind your lovely, bright, string of Christmas lights. The slimline style is perfect to fit them all in! Such a fun bundle, as I too have been tempted.

I so love your slim line card Judy. I adore your colour combo that has been softened with an overlay of striped vellum. All the elements for the string of lights works so well together. You have combined the various pieces perfectly. So gorgeous. xxx

Judy, this is such a fabulously fun card with your vibrant colours. I do like the way you muted your colourful background by using the striped Vellum Basics Specialty Paper. The inside of your card is gorgeous too!

Well, this is a bit cute! I really like how you added striped vellum to the background ... at first I thought you had blended the coloured inks onto the vellum. The lights are delightful, and the black elements look great.
