Hi there
Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty this week.
If you've come from visiting Kathryn, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.
This week our mission is to choose a project from the 2023-24 Annual Catalogue and 'step it up'. Our banner pic is a great example of how you can 'step up' a project by adding additional layers, details and embellishments.
I chose the project in the photo above from page 29 of the 2023-24 Annual Catalogue for my inspiration. I'm not keen on the colour choices the designer made, but I looked past that to the layout, which is simple and flexible.
I chose another pretty floral design from the new Garden Walk paper pack that is in the forthcoming Mini Catalogue, commencing on 6 September. The colours in it are Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Wild Wheat, Pretty Peacock and the background is a lighter shade of Lost Lagoon. I covered two-thirds of a card front sized piece of Calypso Coral with the floral design and the remainder with the striped vellum from the Vellum Basics Specialty DSP with a narrow border of Calypso Coral separating them. The vellum tones down the Calypso Coral and allows me to use it for other accents on the card.
For the focus panel I have used the stitched and scalloped rectangle from the Scalloped Contours Dies for some pretty detail and stamped the greeting from the Layering Leaves stamp set on the left in Calypso Coral ink. This is such a flexible greeting as it could be used for celebrating pretty much any occasion and the font is lovely, too.
On the right I have the jug from the So Refreshing Dies cropped from the Pretty Peacock spotted print and I cropped another from Pretty Peacock cardstock and adhered them together to make it more robust. I added some Basic White and Lost Lagoon foliage to the jug, using the Textured Floral Dies. The jug die cuts the slit for you to poke the foliage through, for a realistic look. I adhered the jug flat, leaving the handle free for extra dimension. At the base of the jug is a little group of flowers in stamped-off Calypso Coral ink. The flowers are from the Two-Tone Flora stamp set and are very similiar to the style in the floral print. I added a little bow in white Baker's Twine behind them and finished with silver pearls in the centres. The focus panel was popped up on 1mm foam pads, to even out the height. The Calypso Coral panel was adhered to a Thick Basic White card base.
For the inside I have a Calypso Coral Mat for the writing panel and on the right a strip of the floral print with a narrow border of Calypso Coral to mirror the front. The greeting from the Artistically Inked set was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink.
