CASE-ing the Catty - So Refreshing Bundle
August 06, 2023
Hi there
Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty this week.
If you've come from visiting Peta & Marvi, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.
This week we have free reign to CASE any project from the Annual Catalogue. Woohoo, so much to choose from!
The So Refreshing Bundle arrived on Friday, so I decided on the sample project above for my inspiration. It is soft and pretty, but I wanted to give my project a bright summery feel with lots of pop. You might need to have your sunglasses handy!
I started by die cutting the 'rug' from Tahitian Tide card stock. I actually meant it to be Azure Afternoon, but they are similiar, so I went with it. Although it is hard to see, I used a sponge dauber to add more ink to the embossed checks on the rug and the fringe, to add more depth. Next I stamped the jug and glasses in stamped off Smoky Slate ink then Lemon Lolly for the lemonade, fussy cutting them on the line, to reduce the bulk. I added some lemons to the lemonade with Daffodil Delight ink and stamped 2 extra and fussy cut them to add to the glasses.
The strawberries are soooo cute with the embossed detail, so I decided to add a basket of strawberries to the picnic. The die cuts 3 at once, so it didn't take long to cut a dozen from Real Red and the calyx from Garden Green. The calyx is very petite, so you need to use a tiny dot of glue on the strawberry and tweezers to put them together. I added them to the embossed basket from the Crafting With You Dies, cropped from Pecan Pie card stock, layering them with some on 1mm foam pads for dimension. A few fell out of the basket as well! The final element is the flower spray, which looks a bit like a lily or gladioli to me. I stamped the stem first in Garden Green and the flowers in 2 strengths of Melon Mambo. It took me a little while to see how the flower fit into the stem, but it is easier once you have some ink on it to see the outlines more easily.
To ground the elements on the background I added some ink blending with Balmy Blue at the top for 'sky' and Lemon Lime Twist at the bottom for 'grass'. The lovely friendship greeting was stamped in Smoky Slate and then all the elements were layered on top, mostly with 1mm foam pads to add dimension without too much bulk. The art piece was matted on Tahitian Tide with a narrow border and then onto the card base that was covered with the large plaid design in Lemon Lime Twist. I finished with a trio of (retired) Lemon Lime Twist Matte Decorative Dots.
