CASE-ing the Catty - Fresh As A Daisy Colours
June 11, 2023
Hi there
Welcome to CASE-ing the Catty this week.
If you've come from visiting Peta & Marvi, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the button at the bottom of the post.
This week we are taking inspiration from the colours in the Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper. It includes all 5 of the new 2023-25 In Colors and Pretty Peacock as you can see below.
There are some really bold colour combinations in this paper, but I decided to go low key and chose my favourite sheet from the pack that contains just 3 colours - Boho Blue, Copper Clay and white. Blue and brown has always been one of my favourite colour combos and it is ages since I've used it.
I love the handpainted look of the white daisies on the gorgeous blue background in this design. So I could get the most out of the sheet, I cut a piece from the bottom of the panel (already cut to 6" x 12") to just above the tallest daisy (about 3 1/4") and then from the top of the same sheet (reverse side) I have cut the strip of Copper Clay. I adhered both pieces to a card base size piece of Basic White. I do this when using ribbon and twine, so I can wrap it around neatly without showing anything inside the card. A strip of the 3/8" Textured Ribbon in Boho Blue covers the join and I've wrapped white Baker's Twine over the top and finished with the bow on right. I had already decided to use the label die with the rounded corners from the Nested Essentials Dies, so decided to follow that through on the corners of the card base too, using the Very Best Trio Punch. This punch isn't in the 2023-24 Annual Catalogue, but you can find it with other carryover items in the Online Exclusives section of the Online Store. It is much easier to round the corners of each layer separately. The finished background was adhered to the Thick Basic White card base.
I stamped the greeting from the Layering Leaves stamp set in Versamark on the Boho Blue label and then heat set it with white embossing powder. To give it a lift against the blue background I offset another label cut from Basic White on the left. The white daisy was created with the Paper Florist Dies, using 3 layers off set to give a nice full shape. I used the bone folder on each layer to add some dimension and finished with the Copper Clay centre popped upon a Dimensional. Tucked under the daisy are sprigs of foliage cropped with the Timeless Arrangements Dies from Copper Clay Luster Specialty Paper. It has a lovely sheen on it and comes in all 5 of the 2023-25 In Colors. You can find it on page 127 of the Annual Catalogue. I finished with a trio of Brushed Brass Butterflies.
For the inside, I have a Boho Blue mat for the writing panel with the rounded corners at the bottom. I have added another daisy that has a soft blending of Boho Blue ink and the Copper Clay centre. I've tucked in some more foliage around the daisy and finished with a small Brushed Brass Butterfly.
