This week we are taking inspiration from the colours in the Blackberry Beauty Designer Series Paper

CTC345_Blackberry_Beauty_Colours

Although this was intended more as an autumnal colour palette, I decided to take some of the designs from the paper and create a simple Christmas card. Given the state of the postal system, I'll be sending my cards early this year, so there isn't too much time left to get them made. Beautiful papers and a big bold greeting are the classic elements of a quick and easy card that still has a 'wow' for the recipient.

Stampin' Up! Blackberry Beauty Christmas Card | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I started with a thick Basic White card base and added 2 panels of the rich berry tone designer paper. The one on the left has the gold foil leaf design and the one on the right has a small holly print. The designs were separated with a narrow band of Gold Foil. As these colours are so rich and bold, I've kept the layout very simple.

The large greeting from the Holly Jolly Wishes stamp set was heat embossed in gold  and I used the retired 2 1/2" Circle Punch to crop it, as it provided a little extra space around the text. It is popped up on the Gold Foil circle that was cropped with the Layering Circle Dies. I die cut one of the large layers from the Christmas Pinecone Dies in the brushed gold metallic paper and snipped out some of the pine branches to put under my greeting for extra dimension. I finished with a trio of Metallic Pearls.

For the inside, I have a Rich Razzleberry mat for the writing panel with a strip of the gold foiled design a the base. I finished with a couple of the brushed gold pine branches tucked into right corner.

Heart of Christmas - Peaceful Deer

Heart of Christmas Header 2021Hi there

Welcome to Heart of Christmas for 2021. Each week (until mid-December), the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

I'm pleased to be able to join the team today to bring you some holiday craft inspiration. I have used a variety of products on my card, but it is overwhelmingly non-traditional! The colour combo in the Whimsy & Wonder Suite is a fun and  contemporary take on traditonal Christmas colours.

Stampin' Up! Whimsy & Wonder Specialty DSP & Peaceful Deer Bundle | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I started with a Polished Pink card base and added the panel of Basic White embossed with the snowflake design from the Wintry 3D Embossing Folder. This is pack of 2 of the narrower embossing folders. I chose 3 designs from the Whimsy & Wonder Specialty Designer Series Paper pack and created the banners, using the Banners Pick A Punch to flag the ends. I haven't used banners for ages, but they create a nice background for your embellishment. They are also a great way to use up the strips that are left over from other projects.

For the embellishment, I've used the 2nd largest of the Layer Circles Dies and adhered the pretty die cut star from the Christmas Trimmings Dies. The deer from the Peaceful Deer stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso ink and cropped with the coordinating punch. I popped up the deer above the greeting, and added some tiny pearls at the end. I finished with a bow in Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon at the top of the star.

Isn't the texture from the embossing folder lovely?

This week we are taking inspiration from an embossing project. It could be dry embossing with embossing folders or masks or heat embossing with its gorgeous shiny, raised finish.

CTC344_SU_Sample
I've chosen a project using dry embossing, as I think it is the quickest and easiest way to add texture and interest to a card. Stampin' Up! have a huge range of embossing folders for all different styles of cards. This is a really classic layout, with lots of white space and the lovely texture of the Macrame 3D Embossing Folder.

Stampin' Up! Blessings of Home Bundle | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

This weekend we had the annual Stampin' Up! OnStage event, although it was online rather than in person. One of the perks was having the opportunity to access the Blessings of Home Bundle from the upcoming 2022 January - June Mini Catalogue. This is comprised of the Blessings of Home stamp set and coordinating Flowers of Home Dies, together with the Heart and Home Designer Series Paper.  If you like colouring (in any medium), then you will love the pretty floral images in this set.

I started with a thick Basic White card base and then cut another piece of Basic White slightly smaller and embossed the right side with the Meadow Moments Embossing Folder. This is a pack of 2 designs that are narrower than the standard, but the perfect size for this layout. I added a strip of the Fresh Freesia floral design from the Heart and Home DSP to the left before wrapping some Linen Thread around the panel and finishing with a double bow at the top.

I stamped the large floral image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers.  There is a coordinating die in the Flowers of Home Dies set to crop the image. I stamped the large flower again, coloured  and fussy cut it to pop up on the large image. The floral image was popped up on the embossed panel. The greeting from the Blessings of Home stamp set was stamped in Misty Moonlight and I added a narrow border of the card stock at the bottom to give it a bit more definition. I finished with a trio of  Fresh Freesia jewels on the small embossed butterflies.

For the inside, I have stamped and coloured part of the smaller floral image from the Blessings of Home stamp set and added a narrow strip of the Fresh Freesia designer paper on the right.

CASE-ing the Catty - Sweet Little Stockings

This week we are CASE-ing an animal card.

Ctc343_SU_Sample
I've chosen the card above for my inspiration, using the Picture This Dies. I've been wanting to try them out, so this is the perfect opportunity.

Stampin' Up! Sweet Little Stockings & Picture This Dies | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I haven't strayed too far from the concept of the inspiration project as this die is perfect to use with cute critters! I started with a Pool Party card base and dry embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder. A piece of the Pool Party checked design from the Sweet Stockings Designer Series Paper was adhered to a piece of Basic White and run through with the circles die from the Picture This Dies. I love the stitched edging that adds extra interest. I popped up the panel using Adhesive Foam Strips to provide lots of dimension.

Stampin' Up! Sweet Little Stockings & Picture This Dies | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I stamped the dog and cat in Early Espresso ink and coloured them with Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers and fussy cut them on the line. As the cat is a little smaller, I stamped and coloured the present for him to peek over with the bow cut from the top and popped up in the middle. I added some retired Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the Santa hat and popped it up on the dog.  The greeting from Sweet Little Stockings stamp set was stamped in Real Red ink and then cut into pieces and arranged in the largest circle. I adhered the small circles of fairy lights flat onto the card base. I originally started out with the fairy lights design for the background, but it was a bit too busy, but it meant I had the circles cut ready to go.
