This week we are taking inspiration from our favourite project from the 2021 July - December Mini Catalogue.CTC342_SU_SampleI've looked at the sample project (above) using the Christmas Season Bundle many times, with the Balmy Blue card base and alternative colours for the Christmas foliage always drawing my eye. I love non-traditional colours for Christmas and the striped background does add that 'candy cane' feel.

I didn't stray from the layout, changing the card to Basic White with a layer of Mint Macaron as the mask is a tad too small for a standard metric card base. I've used the Shimmery White Embossing Paste with the striped mask from the Adorning Designs Decorative Masks to create a lovely sparkly background. I kept the foliage colours the same apart from Just Jade for the rounded leaves instead of Soft Succulent, to provide more contrast with the background. The other colours are Blushing Bride, Misty Moonlight and Cinnamon Cider.

This close up photo shows the lovely sparkle from the Shimmery Embossing Paste. It is such a wow from a simple technique. Most of the foliage are 2-step stamps, with a base and then a highlight image. For the base image,  stamp off first to get the lighter colour and then stamp the highlight image in full strength. Such a great way to make your ink colours go further. I've used the greeting from the Christmas to Remember stamp set and popped it up over the top of the foliage pieces. I added the gold bow at the top and the retired 2020-22 In Color Enamel Dots at the base to finish.

This week we are taking inspiration from the Painted Christmas section (pages 16-23) of the 2021 July-December Mini Catalogue.

CTC339_SU_Sample

I've chosen the 3D treat bag above for my inspiration, as I like the layout and the ombre background.

After measuring the Ombre Gift Bags, I decided to use the Soft Succulent version as the background for my card. It would cover the entire card front, but I decided to leave a border to show the Misty Moonlight card base. It is quite thin, so I adhered it to a piece of Basic White before layering onto the card base. Next comes a piece of my favourite design from the Tidings of Christmas DSP.

I used the medium sized label from the Seasonal Labels Dies and the Cherry Cobbler striped design from the Tidings of Christmas DSP to create a contrast to the Evening Evergreen design. I found the label a little too large so I popped it back in the die and cropped a bit off one end. As the edges are straight, this is super easy to do. I used the large detailed die from the Christmas Pinecone Dies to create the foliage with Just Jade card stock. I tried Evening Evergreen, but it was too dark and Just Jade works well with Soft Succulent. I've stamped the stocking from the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set in Misty Moonlight and popped it up on the label.  The greeting  also from the same stamp set, has been stamped in Shaded Spruce, which I also used for the holly on the side of the stocking. I finished with a trio of stars cropped from the Gold & Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper with the Stitched Stars dies.

For the inside I have an Soft Succulent mat and a strip of the Evening Evergreen designer paper down the right hand side. At the bottom is a stamped Cherry Cobbler stocking with the Shaded Spruce holly trim.

Heart of Christmas - Angels of Peace

Heart of Christmas Header 2021Hi there

Welcome to Heart of Christmas for 2021. Each week (until mid-December), the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team will  bring you inspiration for your holiday craft projects.

The lovely Angels of Peace stamp set arrived recently, so I have used it to create my card this week

Stampin' Up! Angels of Peace | Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I started by adhering a piece of the mottled blue design from the Beauty Of The Earth Designer Paper to a piece of Basic White. This paper has the look of a blue sky, so I thought it would be an appropriate background for my angel. I ran the panel through with the Merry Melody 3D Embossing Folder and then used a sponge dauber and Craft White ink to gently sponge over the music notes to help define them a little more.

The large angel was stamped in Night of Navy ink onto a piece of Basic White and the dress was coloured with Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends. I used a glue pen to add (retired) Dazzling Diamonds Glitter to the wings for a lovely sparkle. The image was fussy cut on the line and popped up on the stitched greeting panel. I did want to use the 'hark the herald angels sing' from the For Unto Us stamp set, but its whereabouts escaped me today. I finished with a trio of rhinestones.

This week we have a sketch challenge based on the red and white card in the pic above, from page 34 of the 2021 July - December Mini Catalogue. CTC338_SketchIt is easier to see the main elements of the sketch in the diagram above. It is super flexible with the circle being any shape of your choice.

Stampin' Up! Sweet Little Stockings Bundle | Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've created a background with the Heartwarming Hugs designer paper on a Real Red card base. I took a little license and made the band at the bottom wider so that the stripes would balance out the Old Olive polka dot.

I found a stitched circle in my bag of die cut shapes, so I popped that over the zigzag of Real Red Sheer ribbon. The stocking was fussy cut from the Sweet Stockings Designer Paper and I stamped, coloured and fussy cut the sweet little pup that is popped up at the top. The stocking was a little larger than I wanted, so I cut it at the band and then overlapped it onto the bottom and popped it all up on the circle. The Santa hat has some sparkle from the (retired) Dazzling Diamonds glitter I added to the trim and pompom. I added the die cut holly from the Christmas Trimmings Dies on the side and finished with a few Gilded Gems. The greeting from the Sweet Little Stockings stamp set was stamped in Real Red and cropped with a Stitched Rectangle die and popped up at the bottom.

For the inside I have an Old Olive mat and I've created the same effect with the stripes at the top and bottom with the white writing panel in the centre.
