This week we have a fun challenge to CASE a card featuring food!

I've recently planted a lot of strawberries, so when I came across the project above on page 44 of the January - June 2021 Mini Catalogue, it popped right out at me.

I started by stamping those luscious red strawberries, using Cherry Cobbler ink for the outline and Real Red ink for the body of the strawberry. I like the extra definition you get with the darker ink. The calyx was stamped in Garden Green ink on Pear Pizzaz card stock and for the flower, I used So Saffron ink. All the elements were cropped with the Strawberry Builder Punch.

It's funny how things evolve when you craft. I was originally going to use one of scalloped rectangles from the Scalloped Contours Dies, so I die cut the white centre panel with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies to fit. I wasn't happy with that, so went to my Pear Pizzazz scraps and found the stitched frame in there and that sent me down a different path altogether!  I dry embossed a piece of Real Red card stock with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder and adhered it to the back of the Pear Pizzaz frame to add a pop of red.

Using a Blending Brush I added a soft layer of Daffodil Delight to the Basic White rectangle and then positioned all the stamped elements. The first strawberry is adhered flat, the second one is popped up on 1mm foam pads and the third on Dimensionals. The greeting is from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set, stamped in black and positioned over the bottom strawberry. I added a couple of swirls of the black/white Baker's Twine from the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack and finished with a sweet Bumblebee Trinket.  The art panel was popped up on Dimensionals in the frame and then I adhered the frame to a Thick Basic White card base. To keep the borders in proportion, I increased the width of the card base to 11cm, rather than trim the length by 0.5cm.

For the inside, I used the Blending Brush again to create a soft background in the bottom right corner and stamped the leaf and flower spray from the Sweet Strawberry stamp set in Soft Sea Foam ink. I adhered a stamped strawberry over the spray with a white flower over lapping the strawberry.

This week we are taking inspiration from the projects in the Birthday Section of the 2021-22 Annual Catalogue on pages 60-67. I had lots of ideas and hopes of making more than one card, but surprise (actually no surprise at all, lol), I got sidetracked in the garden this morning.

This week, I've chosen the project above on page 63 for my inspiration. It is a mini Paper Pumpkin Box with a belly band that has been die cut with the Flower Market Die and an embellished banner across the centre.

I have changed things up to a portrait orientation and created a card from the layout. I started by choosing the large background die from the Potted Succulents Dies set which creates a lovely fine outline design of the succulents.  Green is definitely not one of my go to colours, but I thought this piece of designer paper from the Beauty of the Earth Designer Series Paper worked well with the succulents. I covered a Thick Basic White card base with the designer paper and then adhered succulents background, which was cut from thick Basic White card stock. If you want the really narrow border around the die cut, I recommend that you cut the card stock the exact size of the die as it is very difficult to cut it down later (the voice of experience talking here!). The die cut isn't long enough for our metric sized cards, so I cut it into 2 pieces and adhered the pieces at the top and bottom, leaving the small space in the centre, which is covered by the band.

I have heat embossed the 'HELLO' greeting from the Biggest Wish stamp set in white at the end of the Old Olive strip and then dry embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder before adhering to the Basic White strip. This is a fabulous set of greetings with both script and block fonts that I know I will be using a lot! At the left end of the strip I added some loops of the gold Simply Elegant Trim and some foliage cut from the new Gold & Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper. The 'friend' greeting was stamped on a strip of Basic White with Old Olive ink and I flagged the end before popping it up on Dimensionals and adding the white bow over the top. I finished with the little butterfly on the hello, also cut from the gold metallic paper.

For the inside, I have kept it really simple with a Basic White writing panel on the left and a strip of the Old Olive designer paper on the right. I finished with a piece of the foliage die cut from the Forever Flourishing Dies
