CASE-ing the Catty - Inspired by Kits

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty! I have most of my craft room packed now, preparing for the move north, so this will probably be my last participation for a few weeks.

If you've come from visiting Peta & Marvi, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week we are taking inspiration from kits in either the Annual Catalogue or January-June Mini Catalogue.  The Hello Dear Friend All Inclusive Card Kit took my eye when I first saw it in the January-June Mini Catalogue. It has a great 7 piece Photopolymer stamp set with really useful greetings and the colours really spoke to me (yes, it does include pink, of course!). You can see the cards created with the kit in the photo above right.

As I have limited supplies available now, I've taken the opportunity to use the kit to create a Mother's Day card that I can have ready to put in the post shortly. I've used the card above for my inspiration, staying close to the design and stepping it up a little (although it is already a lovely card!)

I started by cutting the front from the leafy card base and dry embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder for some lovely texture. I cut a custom card base from Melon Mambo card stock and adhered the panel. The copper foil vellum die cut was adhered to the card base by sponging a small amount of Tombow glue around the edges. Press it down lightly and you will not see any adhesive.

The Mother's Day greeting from the Dressed to Impress stamp set was stamped on one of the included copper trimmed labels and positioned on the vellum panel. The floral die cuts were popped up at different levels around the label and I added some leaf die cuts. I finished with a little bow from the new Polished Pink Open Weave Ribbon and a trio of 2020-22 In Color Enamel Dots.

For the inside, I have a narrow border of Pear Pizzazz for my writing panel and I've stamped the leaves and flower from the included stamp set along the bottom in Pear Pizzazz and Melon Mambo ink.

This week we are taking inspiration from our favourite retiring punch.

CTC314_SU_Sample

I've chosen to focus on  the Small Bloom Punch this week. It is still available and discounted to $9.20 AUD, so a bargain if you don't have this cute punch your stash. The inspiration projects in the photo above, using the Baskets of Bloom stamp set, show the projects from basic to stepped up. The Small Bloom Punch crops the larger flower images in this set, but is also great punched straight from card stock or patterned paper.

I've taken elements from the inspiration projects to create my card. I started with a Basic White card base and then added a layer of Melon Mambo that I dry embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. For something a little different, I ran it through a second time in the opposite direction to create a linen-like texture. I added a strip of Melon Mambo designer paper at the base with a border of Granny Apple Green.

I've created a frame for my art panel with one of  the scalloped labels from the new Scalloped Contours Dies. A piece of wood grain designer paper from the In Good Taste pack was adhered to a piece of Basic White and then cropped with the scalloped die. You can see the lovely pierced detail in the photo above. I used my trimmer to cut the centre from the panel.

For the art piece, I stamped the pot first and then masked it to stamp the stems.  A second pot was stamped, coloured with Stampin' Blends and fussy cut. I wrapped the White Baker's Twine around the pot and finished it with a bow before popping it up over the main panel. The flowers were stamped on a small piece of Basic White, coloured with Stampin' Blends and then cropped with the Small Bloom Punch. I added a Bumblebee In Color Enamel Dot to the centre of the larger flowers.

The greeting from the Art Gallery stamp set was stamped in black on Granny Apple Green and cropped with a Stitched Rectangle Die. I've popped it up over the corner of the pot and added the Daffodil flower to the end.

For the inside, I have a narrow border of Melon Mambo for my writing panel and I've stamped and coloured the large stem and popped up a flower in the corner. A narrow strip of Melon Mambo designer paper was added at the base to finish.

This week we are taking inspiration from our favourite retiring stamp set.

CTC313_SU_Sample_2

Page 52 of the 202-21 Annual Catalogue has projects using two of my favourite stamp sets.  As I love colouring, the line images in the So Much Love stamp set are fabulous for lots of different methods of colouring.

Stampin' Up! So Much Love in Polished Pink & Soft Succulent | Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
In addition to farewelling this lovely stamp set, I have  a little sneak peek for you. I received some of my new 2021-23 In Color products on Friday, so I decided to use Polished Pink and Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends to colour the image. I don't think my photo does justice to the clear, vibrant pink that is Polished Pink.

I used a Soft Succulent card base and added a layer of Basic White that was dry embossed with the Tasteful Texture 3D Embossing Folder. Next is a layer of Sahara Sand paper with the text design that was cropped with the Stitched Rectangles Dies

I've used the scalloped label from the new Scalloped Contours Dies cut from Sahara Sand and I stamped the dots image from the So Much Love stamp set over it. The greeting from the Blossoms in Bloom stamp set was stamped in black and cropped with the smallest Stitched Rectangle Die. The coloured and fussy cut flower was popped up over the background elements, with a small bow in the Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon to add softness. I finished with a single rhinestone, coloured with the Dark Polished Pink Blends marker.

For the inside, I have a very narrow border of Sahara Sand and I've stamped and coloured a partial image of the smaller flower in the bottom corner.

CASE-ing the Catty - Fave Retiring Dies

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty!

This week we are taking inspiration from our favourite retiring dies. Wow, where to start, lol, there are so many. However, I was truly shocked that my favourite Stitched Shapes Dies are retiring. These have been a crafting staple since they were released as they are so versatile and easy to use.  If you have these dies in your stash, you know exactly what I mean. If you haven't, then I'm sorry to say they are now sold out in Australia.

CTC312_Stitched_Shapes_Dies

So I went a little off piste, lol, deciding I would be inspired by the dies themselves, rather than a particular project from the catalogues.

Stampin' Up! - True Love DSP, Stitched Shapes & Pierced Blooms Dies | Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I must be having a fling with purple at the moment, as I've used the 3 shades of purple on my card together with the fabulous black and white designs from the True Love Designer Series Paper. I have a Highland Heather card base and a black mat for the black and white polka dot and striped papers that form the background. I've wrapped a strip of the retiring Purple Tricolor Ribbon around the paper before adhering to the mat.

I've used the second smallest of the circle dies and the largest of the square dies from the Stitched Shapes set to provide a background for my embellishments. I dry embossed the Gorgeous Grape scrap with the (very sadly, retiring) 3D Subtle Embossing Folder before cropping with the stitched circle. I've left the Basic White stitched square plain, just adding a mat of Highland Heather and slipping the circle between the layers of the corner. I finally managed to break open the Pierced Blooms Dies, which is an amazing set of 25 dies with a huge variety of flowers and leaves, all with the lovely pierced detail.  I masked off the 'gorgeous' from the greeting from the Dressed to Impress stamp set and heat embossed 'hello' in white on Highland Heather, using a Stitched Rectangle Die to crop it to size.

For the inside, I have mat of Basic Black for the writing panel and a strip of the black and white striped designer paper down the left. I layered up some left over flowers to embellish the corner.

The finished card is 13.5cm (5 3/8") square.
