2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty. Today is the very last day of Sale-a-bration, but you can still place an order and earn some FREE products of your choice. Hasn't it gone really quickly, being only 2 months. I can't believe that it is March tomorrow, already.

If you've come from visiting Siobhan, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week we are taking our inspiration from the Sale-a-bration Catalogue, as you would expect for our final week.  There are so many cute projects, it was hard to decide. I only wish I wasn't so time poor at the moment, with packing being the number 1 priority.

I've chosen this card above on page 11 of the Sale-a-bration Catalogue for my inspiration. I love the Flower & Field Designer Series Paper, so I decided to get my fussy cutting on and make this card. I have lots of March birthdays, so a birthday card fitted the bill perfectly.

Stampin' Up! Flower & Field and Oh So Ombre DSP | Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I have stayed close to the layout, but changed up the background to use the Bermuda Bay circles design from the Sale-a-bration Oh So Ombre Designer Series Paper pack. I added a little border of Bermuda Bay card stock to make it pop and I added it to a card-front sized piece of Basic White that I ran through with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder for textural interest.

I fussy cut the large spray of flowers with the three Flirty Flamingo roses and positioned it over the background and adhered it flat. The Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon was wrapped twice around the panel and finished with a bow on the left before being adhered to a Thick Basic White card base. The birthday greeting from the Best Year stamp set was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink and cropped with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies and popped up over the flower spray.  I popped up a few extra fussy cut flowers and added a small Forget Me Not to the corner of the greeting, with a rhinestone in the centre. A couple more large rhinestones finish the embellishment.

For the inside, I have a Bermuda Bay mat and a little cluster of fussy cut flowers in the corner. If you fussy cut a bunch of the flowers in advance, this is a very quick card to put together.

This week we are 'Bringing the Bling' as we take inspiration from projects using all things shiny and sparkly!

CTC306_SU_Sample

I've chosen this card above on page 15 of the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue for my inspiration. It always catches my eye with the splashes of gold embossing over the spritzed background, so I thought I would give it a go myself.

Stampin' Up! To A Wild Rose Friendship Card | Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I decided on Melon Mambo as my focus colour and fortunately I had some left over Melon Mambo and White Shimmer paint in a spritzer, which I spritzed onto a piece of Shimmery White card stock. To add a bit more 'oomph' to the colour I added some drops of Merry Merlot and rubbing alcohol to another spritzer and spritzed a bit more on the bottom edge for a darker shade.  Once dry (I used my heat tool to speed up the process), I stamped the flower centre from the To A Wild Rose stamp set in Versamark ink randomly over the panel and heat embossed it in gold. I gave it a good flick on the back to remove some of the embossing powder so it wouldn't end up as big blobs. You can see it better in the close up photo below.

A card front-sized panel of Melon Mambo was dry embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and the Gold Foil adhered asymetrically on top. The spritzed panel comes next and that is also adhered on an angle. The Melon Mambo panel was adhered to a Thick Basic White card base.

I've stamped the rose image in Daffodil Delight; stamping off the first layer and then full strength on the highlights. The outline was heat embossed in gold and then fussy cut. The outline for the leaves was stamped in Shaded Spruce and then the inside in Just Jade. The leaves were also fussy cut and I found it easier to separate them for placement. The folded strip of vanilla/gold Metallic ribbon was laid down on the spritzed panel and then the flower popped up over the top. The leaves were then arranged and adhered flat underneath. The 'hello' greeting was stamped in Melon Mambo and fussy cut and the 'friend' was masked off from the larger greeting and heat embossed in gold. I finished with a trio of Gilded Gems for one final touch of bling!

I've kept the inside super simple with a Melon Mambo mat and a Gold Foil border design from the Many Medallions Dies on the right.

CASE-ing the Catty - Sale-a-bration Layout

This week we are taking inspiration from layout of the donkey card shown in the photo above.

CTC305_Sketch

You can see the layout more easily in the sketch above. It is a simple layout, but that gives you heaps of scope to make it your own.  You can keep it simple; step it up or turn it sideways and make it landscape. Use it as a starting point and let your creativity take over!

Stampin' Up! Sand & Sea Suite | Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
Well, I've done a couple of things I mentioned above. I turned the sketch into a landscape layout and I've stepped it up with some extra layers. I started with a panel of Seaside Spray card stock and dry embossed it with the gorgeous Seashells 3D Embossing Folder. To help the design pop a little more, I used a sponge dauber and Craft Ink Refill to gently sponge a little white ink over the design. A strip of the white ribbon from the Flowers For Every Season Combo Pack was placed across the centre and adhered on the back. To create the other strip of colour I used the Blushing Bride twine from the Snail Mail Twine Combo Pack, wrapped around 3 times and finished in a bow. The panel was adhered to a Basic White mat and then onto a Crumb Cake card base.

Stampin' Up! Sand & Sea Suite | Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

For the centre panel, I cut a piece of the sand design from the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper and adhered it to a scrap of Basic White before die cutting with one of the Stitched Rectangle Dies.  I stamped the greeting from the Friends Are Like Seashells stamp set in Early Espresso ink and popped it up over the ribbon. This card will be going to our very courageous 15 year old niece who is undergoing a difficult medical procedure prior to more brain surgery, so I thought it was very appropriate.  I roughly cut 3 shells from another sheet of the designer paper and adhered them to scraps of Basic White before fussy cutting.  The scale of the images worked better than the stamps in this instance.  I laid down the seaweed cut from Vellum using the Smooth Sailing Dies and then the 'coral' using one of the In Good Taste Elements, before layering the shells over the top. I added 3 of the clear Elegant Faceted Gems to finish.

For the inside, I have a Seaside Spray mat and I added a narrow strip of the sea urchin design from the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper down the right side. On the Basic White panel I stamped the stones in Early Espresso ink and then added a little Crumb Cake ink with a blending brush. The seaweed was stamped in shades of Crumb Cake ink.  A fussy cut shell was added over the top.

CASE-ing the Catty - Love You Always Suite

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

It's great to be back CASE-ing the Catty! I was too late to participate with the Crew in tonight's hop, but I thought I'd post my card anyway.

I've been MIA for the past 6 weeks while we focussed on getting our house ready for sale. I'm happy to say we only had to have 3 home opens before we sold it, but much hard work preceded that. Now of course, there is the challenge of finding a new home in a new city and a new state (eek!) before we become homeless!

CTC304_Banner

This week we are taking inspiration from the Love You Always Suite on pages 10-13 of the January - June 2021 Mini Catalogue.

CTC304_SU_Sample

I chose the design in the photo above from page 10 for my inspiration this week. As I'm not sure when I will be packing up my craft room, I thought I'd take the opportunity to make my Mum's birthday card. She has a milestone birthday coming up in March and with COVID making state border closures within Australia a nightmare to navigate, I'm not sure whether I will get over to celebrate with her. At least I will have her card ready in case I need to post it.

Stampin' Up! True Love Designer Series Paper | Milestone Birthday | Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I decided to make an A5 sized card, to provide lots of room for all the elements I wanted to used. I've stayed close to the layout, using it as the focus of my card with the black and white diamond design from the True Love Designer Series Paper pack providing a contrast to my pastel flowers. I've added a border of Gorgeous Grape card stock to each side and then layered the vellum over the top to soften it a little.  It doesn't show very well in the photo, but the sections above and  below the designer paper are dry embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder for added texture. The numbers were cut with the retired Large Numbers Dies in Silver Foil and I added a shadow layer using Gorgeous Grape to help them pop.

Stampin' Up! True Love Designer Series Paper | Milestone Birthday | Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I chose the flowers from a different sheet of the True Love Designer Paper, colouring them with Purple Posy and Olive Old Stampin' Blends markers before fussy cutting on the line. I went around the edges with a Smoky Slate marker to cover the white core. The large greeting from the Happiest of Birthdays stamp set was stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink onto a piece of Whisper White die cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies. I've popped up the greeting panel over the vellum before layering the flowers and adding the bow with the Gorgeous Grape Sheer Ribbon. I finished with a trio of rhinestones.

I haven't decorated the inside of the card yet, as I want to print a verse with my computer first.
