Colour Creations Showcase - Granny Apple Green
October 07, 2020
Hi there
Tonight, I'm joining the ladies from the Art With Heart Team for this week's Colour Creations Showcase. This week we're featuring Granny Apple Green which is from the Brights Collection.
This turned out to be a rather unexpected colour combination, but somehow I think it works.
I've kept my card simple, using my favourite Wreath Builder Dies to create a multi-layered wreath in Vellum, Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce. I layered them onto a piece of Pool Party card stock that was dry embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and then added to a Granny Apple Green mat and onto a Whisper White card base.
To embellish the wreath, I have die cut 'peace' with the Joy Dies in Thick Whisper White and Gold Foil and adhered them together, offsetting the Gold Foil to create a shadow and make it a little more robust. The peace dove from the Dove of Hope stamp set was heat embossed in Gold and then fussy cut; there is a die to crop it, but I wanted to have it without a border. Although it isn't visible in the photo, I sprayed the dove with Champagne Shimmer Mist (Champagne Shimmer Paint in rubbing alcohol) for some sparkle and popped it up so that the wings are very dimensional. The coordinating 'on earth' greeting was heat embossed in gold and then fussy cut and popped up.
For the inside, I have a Pool Party mat for my writing panel and I have stamped the lovely greeting from the Dove of Hope stamp set in the centre with Granny Apple Green and Shaded Spruce. At the base is a strip of designer paper from the Forever Greenery pack which is very close to Granny Apple Green and has Shaded Spruce speckles. I had an extra dove, so I popped it in the corner to finish.

Gorgeous bright card Judy - you know if someone stands all their Christmas cards on a mantelpiece that this one is going to pop out from all the others! It's lovely!

Such a lovely Christmas card Judy. I love the multi layer wreath with the gold and white sentiment and gorgeous dove. Off-setting the gold and white layers for the work "Peace" looks great and your treatment of the dove is beautiful. Your layers and mounts both inside and out always adds that special touch. xxx

A gorgeous elegant card Judy, A style you do so well. I had never thought of using vellum to help fill a wreath out so thanks for the tip.

The colours you have used look beautiful together, Judy. I never would have thought to team Pool Party with those greens, but it provides a lovely background. The gold touches are perfect. Beautiful card.
