This week we are CASE-ing the colours from the Trimming The Town Suite.

These aren't a set of colours I would have put together, but they do work well together.

Stampin' Up! Joyful Holly - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

This week, I have a clean and simple card using the challenge colours. This isn't the stamp set I was intending to use, but hey, when you get lemons you have to make lemonade, lol. There was a little mix-up and the wrong sheet of stamps came in the stamp set I was intending to use. However, I now have an extra stamp set in Joyful Holly and the replacement will hopefully arrive tomorrow.

So for my card, I have stamped the curved holly image twice on my panel of Whisper White with Early Espresso ink, using the Stamparatus to quickly and easily achieve the mirror image. This is a 2-step stamp set, so there are stamps to 'fill-in' the colour very quickly, but I wanted to have a little more control of the result.  I've used the Old Olive Stampin' Blends to colour the holly and Dark Poppy Parade for the berries and I added a few highlights with a White Gel Pen.  To add texture, I've dry embossed the panel with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder before mounting it on the Pool Party mat.

I rummaged in my scrap bag and found a strip of Misty Moonlight aleady embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder to go across the centre. The stitched label from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies was cut from Pool Party card stock and popped up over the top of the strip before winding some of the Gold Trim from the Forever Greenery Combo Pack around the panel and finishing with a bow.  The lovely greeting from the Joyful Holly stamp set was stamped in Misty Moonlight ink and cropped with the decorative circle from the Tasteful Labels Dies and popped up on the label. I finished with a trio of Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels under the greeting.

For the inside, I have a Pool Party mat for the writing panel and a strip of my favourite Misty Moonlight design from the Flowers For Every Season paper pack. I've partially stamped the other holly image from Joyful Holly in the top corner and coloured with Stampin' Blends.

This week we are CASE-ing our favourite bundle from the 2020 August-December Mini Catalogue. I have quite a few favourites, so I thought I would try out one that I haven't used yet.

CTC282_SU_Sample

My project this week is inspired by the catalogue sample above from page 36, using the Snowflake Wishes Bundle. Although we have Christmas in the summer season in Australia, Santa does come from the North Pole where it is snowy! If that doesn't work for you, then I think of snowflakes as Christmas stars. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

There is so much sparkle going on, it was really difficult to photograph under lights, with the reflection from the Window Sheet. It has been a cold, wet and miserable weekend in Melbourne, so outdoor photography was not an option.

I didn't start out with the intention of making a Shaker Card, but that is where I ended up. I started with a Thick Whisper White card base and I've added a layer of the beautiful Balmy Blue Glimmer Paper that is part of the Snowflake Splendor Suite. I dry embossed a piece of Thick Whisper White with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and then cropped it with the stitched label that has the snowflake cut outs in the corners. You definitely want to dry emboss first as the cut-out snowflakes are quite delicate.

For the shaker element I used 2 layers of Window Sheet, so the Balmy Blue Glimmer paper could be seen.  I don't have the Snowflake Sequins, so I used the Whale Of A Time Sequins, picking out the shells and just leaving the others. I think they work really well, as it adds a little more colour without straying too far. I've stamped the greeting from the Snowflake Wishes stamp set and fussy cut it, separating it into 2 pieces which gave me a bit more flexibility in the placement of the large snowflake.

I've used a combination of snowflake die cuts, two of them stamped and the others cut directly from Silver Foil and Balmy Blue Glimmer and layered them together. There are quite a few to choose from, to get different looks.  I added one of the pretty dark Blue Adhesive-Backed Gems in the centre. I placed a small Silver Foil snowflake over the die cut in the bottom corner to finish. The centres match perfectly and automatically off-set; the designers think of all these small details.

I have kept the inside really simple, with a Night of Navy mat for the writing panel. In the corner, I've stamped the small cluster of snowflakes in Balmy Blue ink and then added the Silver Foil die cut over the top of the small star in the centre, so you can see it peeking through.

Colour Creations Showcase - Crumb Cake

AWH_Colour_Creations_2020

Hi there

Tonight, I'm joining the ladies from the Art With Heart Team for this week's Colour Creations Showcase. This week we're featuring Crumb Cake which is from the Neutrals Collection. I have some male birthdays coming up, so I decided to take the opportunity to make a masculine card.

Stampin' Up! A Good Man Beach Birthday Card - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I decided to ink up the Camouflouge background stamp for the first time using Crumb Cake ink. This gives a great tone on tone background without being too overwhelming. As I stamped the panel a little short, I added it to a Night of Navy mat and then onto a Crumb Cake card base.

I have used the A Good Man stamp set for my art panel. I started by stamping the image in Early Espresso ink on Whisper White card stock and then used Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers to create the sky, water and beach sections of the scene. Then to add extra depth I have used elements from the High Tide stamp set over the top. I randomly stamped the mottled image on the ground in stamped off Crumb Cake ink and then masked off everything except the water and stamped the waves in Seaside Spray ink. Finally, I added the small birds in Early Espresso ink at the top. The finished panel was cropped with a Stitched Rectangle die and matted onto Real Red. I added a piece of Night of Navy designer paper under the art panel to ground it and a little tab of Denim Ribbon at the top before popping it up. The greeting is popped up at the bottom and I finished with a Star Designer Element that I coloured with a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blend marker.

For the inside, I have a Real Red mat for my writing panel (although in hindsight I think it should have been Night of Navy). I added some colour at the bottom with the Ivory and Crumb Cake Stampin' Blends and then stamped the mottled image over the top in stamped off Crumb Cake. I masked a small section to create the water and then filled it in with the Light Seaside Spray marker. Finally I stamped the gulls in Early Espresso ink.

This card would work for Father's Day as well, which is coming up soon in Australia. You could add the Father's Day greeting inside.

Heart of Christmas - August

HOC-2020-400-pxHi there

Welcome to the Heart of Christmas showcase for August. I can't believe another month has gone already!  I'm hosting the talented ladies from the Art with Heart team who have fabulous projects to get you inspired for your holiday crafting.  Make sure you follow the links at the bottom of the post to see what they have created.

I love wreaths and the Arrange A Wreath Bundle from the 2020-21 Annual Catalogue is a beauty. The great thing is that it isn't just about Christmas, with elements for Valentine's Day, Easter, Autumn/Thanksgiving and pretty much any other occasion.  The dies cut all the small elements in the stamp set, plus there are 2 lovely wreaths to choose from.

Arrange_Wreath_Bundle

For my project, I've chosen a non-traditional colour combo of Balmy Blue, Silver and White. I love sparkle at Christmas, so I had to try out the new Balmy Blue Glimmer paper.

I love square cards and I think a wreath looks especially lovely on a square card. I always start at the centre, so I've cut the detailed wreath from Silver Foil and Balmy Blue Glimmer and the leaf wreath from Thick Whisper White. I layered these on a piece of Whisper White dry embossed with the gorgeous Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder. Everything else was built out from the dimensions of the centre panel.

This photo shows the true colour of the Balmy Blue Glimmer, which is so pretty. I adhered the Silver Foil wreath flat to the centre panel with the Balmy Blue Glimmer wreath popped up and then the white leaf wreath adhered on top. I only put adhesive on the circle in the centre, leaving everything else free. The sweet little flowers were die cut from a piece of Balmy Blue that had been dry embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder, which you can see better in the first photo. The silver pearls in the centre are from my stash, as I wanted a shiny rather than matte silver. The greeting has been heat embossed in white onto Balmy Blue and then cropped with one of the Ornate Frames Dies. It is popped up on double Dimensionals and I finished with a little heart in (sadly, retired) Silver Glimmer.

For the inside, I have kept the style the same, with the wide Balmy Blue mat dry embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and the centre writing panel layered on a Silver Foil mat. I have a piece of the detailed wreath in Silver Foil in the corner and the partridge (?) has been popped up over it.

CASE-ing the Catty - Punch Bundle Section

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty challenge!

If you've come from visiting Michelle's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC281_Banner

This week we are taking inspiration from the Punch Bundle section on pages 168-169.

CTC281_SU_Sample
My project this week is based on the simple and versatile layout of the card above. I've added a few more layers, but otherwise stayed close to it. In the catalogue it appeared that the patterned paper went to the edge of the card, but looking at it close-up, it appears to go over the edges or it could be a belly-band around the note-card sized base.

Stampin' Up! Playful Pets Sympathy Card - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I have used the Playful Pets Designer Series Paper for my pet sympathy card. For me, pets are members of the family and their passing is always sad and distressing for everyone. I started with a Basic Black card base and added the red and white striped design leaving a small border on all sides. Over the top I have layered the heart and paw print design with a narrow border of  Real Red on either side, taking it right to the edge of the card base.

Stampin' Up! Playful Pets Sympathy Card - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I have die cut the scalloped heart with the Stitched Be Mine Dies and then dry embossed the inner heart with the Dainty Diamonds 3D Embossing Folder for some delicate texture. They were adhered flat to the card and overlapping. The cat was cropped from Basic Gray card stock with the Cat Punch and I've sponged the edges with Basic Gray ink to add some depth. I've popped the cat up on Black Dimensionals and added the bow using the cute 1/8" red and white design from the Playful Pets Trim Combo.  The sentiment is from the Prized Peony stamp set and I heat embossed it in white on Basic Black card stock and cropped it with the stitched banner from the Tasteful Label Dies. To finish I fussy cut some paw prints from the patterned paper and placed them in the bottom section of the card.

CTC281_Cat_Heart_Inside

For the inside, I have a Real Red  mat for the writing panel and I added a narrow strip of each of the patterned paper designs at the bottom. I stamped the sentiment from the Prized Peony stamp set in black ink and finished with a little red glimmer heart.

CTC281_Cat_Heart

With a change of sentiment, this card would be purr-fect (sorry couldn't help myself!) for a new kitty owner or cat lover or use the Dog  Builder Punch for a doggy card.
