CASE-ing the Catty - Trimming The Town Colours
August 30, 2020
Hi there
Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty challenge!
If you've come from visiting Monique's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This week we are CASE-ing the colours from the Trimming The Town Suite.
These aren't a set of colours I would have put together, but they do work well together.
This week, I have a clean and simple card using the challenge colours. This isn't the stamp set I was intending to use, but hey, when you get lemons you have to make lemonade, lol. There was a little mix-up and the wrong sheet of stamps came in the stamp set I was intending to use. However, I now have an extra stamp set in Joyful Holly and the replacement will hopefully arrive tomorrow.
So for my card, I have stamped the curved holly image twice on my panel of Whisper White with Early Espresso ink, using the Stamparatus to quickly and easily achieve the mirror image. This is a 2-step stamp set, so there are stamps to 'fill-in' the colour very quickly, but I wanted to have a little more control of the result. I've used the Old Olive Stampin' Blends to colour the holly and Dark Poppy Parade for the berries and I added a few highlights with a White Gel Pen. To add texture, I've dry embossed the panel with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder before mounting it on the Pool Party mat.
I rummaged in my scrap bag and found a strip of Misty Moonlight aleady embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder to go across the centre. The stitched label from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies was cut from Pool Party card stock and popped up over the top of the strip before winding some of the Gold Trim from the Forever Greenery Combo Pack around the panel and finishing with a bow. The lovely greeting from the Joyful Holly stamp set was stamped in Misty Moonlight ink and cropped with the decorative circle from the Tasteful Labels Dies and popped up on the label. I finished with a trio of Red Rhinestone Basic Jewels under the greeting.
For the inside, I have a Pool Party mat for the writing panel and a strip of my favourite Misty Moonlight design from the Flowers For Every Season paper pack. I've partially stamped the other holly image from Joyful Holly in the top corner and coloured with Stampin' Blends.
You can see the texture from the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder more clearly in this photo.

Judy, this is wonderful! I love how the holly frames the sentiments, and the layering is as superb as always!

Love this! You've used that holly stamp so perfectly (gorgeous colouring). I bet it ends up being a favourite stamp of yours after all - a bonus to the mix-up!

Great card even if it wasn’t the stamp set you were originally planning to use. Great use of the colours in your card and lovely colouring.
