CASE-ing the Catty - 2020-21 Catalogue Cover

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty challenge!

If you've come from looking at  Michelle's lovely project, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week we're taking our inspiration from the front cover of the brand new 2020-21 Annual Catalogue as we can't show you the inside until 3 June.

I have chosen the note card above from the right hand side of the Annual Catalogue front cover, for my inspiration. It uses the fabulous Lovely You stamp set that has a variety of small-medium solid images  that are perfect for creating backgrounds and 11 greetings in a lovely combined script/print font as shown on the card.  I know I'm going to get heaps of use from this set for both the greetings and for the sweet images that will be perfect for decorating the inside of my cards too.

The strips of coloured cardstock inspired me to show you our beautiful 2020-22 In Colours:

2020-22 In COlorsThey are lovely separately, but they also combine nicely together, although they are more specifically intended to complement the colours in the 4 colour collections (Subtles, Brights, Regals and Neutrals). Sometimes it takes me a while to get on board with new colours and I did not see eye-to-eye at all with Pineapple Punch, one of the retiring In Colors, lol.  However, I can see that I'll be using this range a lot and the new Flowers for Every Season 6" x 6" Designer Paper has a great collection of neutral print and floral designs to coordinate perfectly with the new In Colors.

I started with this card, cutting 1.5cm strips of the In Colors and adhering them to a piece of Whisper White.  Using Early Espresso ink, I stamped 2 of the images from the Lovely You stamp set over the piece. The greetings from the new Field of Flowers stamp set were stamped in Early Espresso on a piece of Whisper White and then dry embossed with my favourite Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. It uses the same scripty font as Lovely You for the 'Always' and the coordinating greetings are in the printed font.  The striped panel was adhered to the embossed Whisper White and then onto the Magenta Madness card base.

I started playing around with the order of the In Color strips and saw the different looks when they are adjacent to different colours. Here is the next variation on a Just Jade card base.

For this last one, I've put the the 3 darker colours in the centre and the brighter colours on the outside on a Misty Moonlight card base.

For the inside, I kept the strip thing going by cutting 3mm strips of 4 colours and weaving them together on the right and bottom edges.

Do you like playing with colour? My husband asked why I made 3 of the same card, lol, but they all look different to me! I think I like the Misty Moonlight version best. What do you think?

A great way to showcase the new in colours. Love what you did with them on the inside.

Three wonderful cards Judy, perfectly showcasing the new In Colours. I love the weaving on the inside, it looks great.

Sandra Collett

Great idea to mix the colours to see what you like, can't decide if I have a favourite yet. The inside looks like it takes a bit of time but very effective. I love the use of the white ribbon to finish.

Julia Quinn

I love the big 'always' - such a gorgeous highlight for your card! Great cards, all of them!! And I'm a fan of the Misty Moonlight too.

I think they all look great!! I love your weaving on the inside of the card, I love your attention to detail.
