CASE-ing the Catty - Colour Combo Kerchief Card Kit - Week 2

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty challenge!

If you've come from looking at the lovely project on Tina's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

It's week 2, CASE-ing the colour combos from the Kerchief Card Kit on page 9 of the Sale-a-bration brochure. As you can see from the photo above, there are 2 cards, each with their own colour combination.

This week, I'm CASE-ing the colour combo of the Poppy Parade card shown above. I almost wimped out on this challenge, as this is not a colour combo I would normally use. But hey, that is what a challenge is all about!

So, this is what I came up with.

Stampin' Up! Poppy Moments Dies - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I started with a card base in Thick Whisper White and die cut the stitched frame with the Stitched Rectanges Dies from Petal Pink card stock.  The card base was trimmed to 14cm (5 1/2") to better fit the stitched frame. I positioned the frame on the card base and stamped the greeting from the Rare Blessings stamp set in Early Espresso ink.   I dry embossed the front of the card base with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to add texture and adhered the stitched frame flat onto the card.

I have used the Poppy Moments Dies to create the two poppies and used some more of the elements from the Kerchief Card Kit for embellishment. I started by colouring a piece of Vellum card stock with the Dark Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends marker. I used the side of the brush tip to go across the vellum. I wasn't too particular about it as I wanted to create some shading, although you can't see that in the photo. You need to put the piece aside and wait for it to dry. In the meantime I die cut a Whisper White Base for each flower and the 'frame' in Poppy Parade card stock. Just the centres of each flower were cut again in Early Espresso card stock.  You can use just the vellum for the flower, which looks pretty too, but I prefer not to see the leaves underneath. It also enhances the colour of the vellum when your background isn't white.

I wanted the flower edging to be a little darker than the coloured Vellum, so I went over it with the Dark Poppy Parade Stampin' Blends marker before adhering the Early Espresso centres. Once the Vellum was dry I cut another base for each poppy and then layered it all up, just attaching each layer in the centre to give it a more layered feel. I finished the larger one with Gold Foil stamens, popped up. I popped up the large poppy in the centre and then positioned the Pear Pizzazz leaves and Gold Foil leaves from the kit.

For the inside, I continued with the frame theme, adding another in Petal Pink, with the smaller poppy embellishment in the bottom corner.

I'll be using the pretty Petal Pink lined envelopes that come in the Kerchief Card Kit to send the card.

Your poppies are beautiful, Judy - I love the gold centers. But those leaves are just stunning, they really stand out to me. Stunning card, I love it!
