CASE-ing the Catty - CASE any Holiday Catalogue Project

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to the last week of CASE-ing the Catty for 2019! It has been such a blast showing you how fabulous the Stampin' Up! catalogues are for inspiring your craft projects.

If you've come from looking at the beautiful project on Rebecca's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week we have free reign to CASE anthing from the Holiday Catalogue. Woohoo!

CTC259_Banner

There are so many fabulous samples that I could have chosen. I was looking for something quick, as I'm still feverishly trying to get all of my Christmas cards into the post.

CTC259_SU_Sample

The gift box in the photo above popped out at me, with the lovely copper and vanilla ribbon generously tied around it. I decided to create a card using the major elements in the sample.

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I started with a Very Vanilla Thick Card base and layered on the beautiful navy and copper star design from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP.  I adhered the designer paper to a Very Vanilla panel first, to give it more body and then added the vertical strip of  the 1/2'"Classic Weave Ribbon with the copper greeting on it.  I decided not to go with the horizontal strip as it looked a bit too much on the card. I added the bow over the top, as it is quite difficult to get all surfaces to face in the right direction with a single sided ribbon design. The way I achieve this is to take a strip of ribbon and create 2 loops like bunny ears and then tie them into a knot. I tied a piece of cotton around the vertical ribbon, where the bow was to go, to pinch it in.

For the tag embellishment, I had to adjust the scale slightly to suit the card. I adhered some of the Old Olive designer paper to a piece of Very Vanilla card stock before cropping it with a circle die from the Layering Circles set.  The copper foil branch from the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements was added first, then the Pretty Peacock bauble that was heat embossed in Copper and the smaller bauble punched from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP was overlapped and popped up. The Copper Foil star was popped up on the edge of the large bauble and a copper star from the Star Designer Elements was added to the centre. I added another of the copper stars to the right to finish. A 1/16" handheld punch was used for the hole at the top of the circle and I threaded some Linen Thread through and tied it around the bow.  A couple of foam pads at the bottom keep it in position.

For the inside I have a Copper Foil  mat for my writing panel and a strip of the navy and copper star designer paper at the  bottom. I added another of the copper foil branches at the top and adhered a 1" Night of Navy circle behind the foil bauble.

I used every item from the Brightly Gleaming Suite on this card, apart from the Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder. This has been one of my favourites this Christmas season with the coordinating products making it so easy to create luxe cards and packaging. Did you know all of the products in this suite apart from the 1/2" Classic Weave ribbon and Foil Elements will be carrying over to the 2020 Holiday Catalogue?

CASE-ing the Catty - Wrapped in Plaid Suite

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty!

If you've come from looking at the lovely project on Sandra's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week, we're taking our inspiration from the Wrapped In Plaid Suite on pages 12-17 of the Holiday Catalogue.

CTC258_Banner

The Wrapped in Plaid Suite has been one of my favourites this Christmas Season. Lots of great coordinating products and samples to make creating your Christmas cards really easy.

CTC258_SU_Sample

I've taken my inspiration from the cute treat bag in the photo above from page 16. It uses the Wrapped In Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper that has lots of designs in traditional Christmas colours and a gorgeous gold foil accent strip through all of the plaid papers. My husband asked me for some Christmas cards to send to school friends he has reconnected with this year. I thought this was a good opportunity to create a simple layout that isn't too fussy and fairly neutral in terms of the embellishments.

Stampin' Up! Itty Bitty Christmas Bundle & Wrapped In Plaid DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I started with a Cherry Cobbler card base and cut another card front sized piece, that I dry embossed with the Brick & Mortar 3D Embossing Folder for some background texture.  For the 2" banner I've used the Shaded Spruce and Cherry Cobbler striped design from the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Paper and cut it with the stripes going horizontally. I added a 1" banner in Gold Foil that was dry embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and adhered them to the embossed piece.

Stampin' Up! Itty Bitty Christmas Bundle & Wrapped In Plaid DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

The large cluster of stars from the Christmas Layers Dies was cut from Gold Foil and I snipped it into 2 pieces. If you look at it carefully you will see 2 groups of 3 stars that are roughly in a semi-circle. I popped one under the banner on the right and used the second on the inside. I love that there is also a single die for each of the 3 large cluster dies in the Christmas Layers set and I cut a single star and popped it underneath on the left of the banner. You get a lot more mileage from your die cut this way, if you are positioning them under layers.

I've used my favourite greeting from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set, inked in Shaded Spruce and cropped with the 11/2" Circle punch and popped up on a Cherry Cobbler mat.  Like the sample, I've used the linen ribbon from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo Pack around the top of the art piece and finished it with a bow. To reduce the bulk, I did this in 2 pieces with a strip of ribbon around the card front and the bow added separately. This is a nice neutral colour that tones down the Gold Foil a little.

Stampin' Up! Itty Bitty Christmas Bundle & Wrapped In Plaid DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For the inside I have a mat of Shaded Spruce for my writing panel and the other piece of the Christmas Layers die in the top corner. At the bottom is a piece of  Wrapped in Plaid designer paper in the opposite colour way to the banner on the front and I've cut it with the stripes going vertically this time. I finished with a single star in the bottom corner.

The card got the nod, so I'll being making a few more of these with different designs from the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Series Paper.

Heart of Christmas - Week 16

HoC_Header_2019_Blog
Hi there

Welcome to Week 16 and the final of Heart of Christmas for this year. I'm hosting the lovely ladies from the Art with Heart team this week, so make sure you check out all of the links at the bottom of the post to see their inspiring Christmas creations.

I've got another simple but elegant card for you this week. As we get closer to Christmas, simple is good, right?  I really like the bauble design from the Brightly Gleaming Speciality Designer Series Paper, but I have found it difficult to use. So my mission this week, was to find a simple layout that lets it shine.

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I started with a Night of Navy card base and then added a layer of Copper Foil that I dry embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder.  It adds lovely texture and interest to a simple layout. The centre panel is also Night of Navy with some of the bauble design paper at the top. I've heat embossed the greeting from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set at the bottom. I finished with the Pretty Peacock/Old Olive ribbon around the centre panel, tied in a bow at the front. The centre panel was popped up on the foil background.  In my haste to get it photographed I forgot to add the 3 Metallic Pearls that I coloured with the Bronze Stampin' Blend Marker.

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

For the inside, I have a Copper Foil mat for the writing panel and some designer paper at the bottom.  In the top corner, I've used some of the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements. These are fabulous for quick and easy embellishment.

CASE-ing the Catty - Kids & Babies Section

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty!

If you've come from looking at the lovely project on Shannon's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week, we're taking a break from the Holiday Catalogue and CASE-ing the Kids & Babbies Section of the Annual Catalogue.

CTC257_Banner

There are lots of cute samples in the Kids & Babies Section of the Annual Catalogue.

CTC257_SU_Sample

I've taken my inspiration from the sample above, although  it may not look too much like it, lol. I've turned it from a portrait to a landscape card.

Stampin' Up! Painted Poppies Bundle - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
Today, I've used the brand new Painted Poppies stamp set from the upcoming January - June 2020 Mini Catalogue (previously called the Occasions Catalogue). I started with a Rich Razzleberry card base and added a layer of Sahara Sand card stock that has been dry embossed with the Mosaic 3D Embossing Folder and matted on Whisper White to leave a narrow border. I added a zigzag of Silver Metallic Edge Ribbon under my embellishment.

CTC257_Pink_Poppies_Close

I enjoyed colouring the lovely floral images from the new Painted Poppies stamp set, using Roccoco Rose and Rich Razzleberry Stampin' Blends markers for the flowers and Granny Apple Green Blends for the leaves. There are coordinating dies to crop the flowers and smaller leaf, although I decided to fussy cut them on the line. The greeting from Itty Bitty Birthdays was heat embossed in white on Rich Razzleberry card stock and cropped with the smallest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies. I layered up all the elements onto a Nested Stitched Rectangle Die that I dry embossed first with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. I  inished with some Frosted/Clear Epoxy Droplets and a tiny Silver Glimmer butterfly on the edge of the flower.

Stampin' Up! Painted Poppies Bundle - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For the inside I have a Sahara Sand mat for my writing panel and I've partially stamped some sweet flowers along the bottom. Another stamp from the Painted Poppies set is a row of poppies, but I've just used the top inch or so of the stamp to create the border. I've coloured the flowers with Light Roccoco Rose and added a dash of Light Rich Razzleberry to the centres. The greeting from Itty Bitty Birthdays is stamped in Rich Razzleberry.
