CASE-ing the Catty - Brightly Gleaming DSP

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty!

If you've come from looking at the lovely project on Shannon's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week, we're CASE-ing the colours of the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper and layouts on page 30 of the Holiday Catalogue.

The three main colours in the Brightly Gleaming DSP are what I call rich regals and when paired with Copper Foil accents, they really pack a punch. This is a really fabulous paper pack and hard to go past for creating luxe holiday cards. That is my entree into giving you a bling alert, lol.

I have used the card above from page 30 of the Holiday Catalogue as my inspiration. One of my goals today was to use the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements on my card.

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP & Foil Elements, Stitched Stars Dies - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I have stayed fairly close to the layout in the sample, using the Pretty Peacock and Copper Foil design from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Paper. I've left an inch on the left and then added the designer paper. A narrow strip of Copper Foil was butted up to the designer paper to create a distinct border. The greeting from the Christmas Gleaming set was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink on Very Vanilla and then trimmed, leaving a narrow border. I added a Copper Foil Mat and then positioned it in the Copper Foil scroll from the Stitched Stars Dies.

When you are using a lot of foil, it is inevitable that you will get a bit of glue somewhere. The glue rubber doesn't work well on foil card, but eucalyptus oil will be your best friend. A tiny amount on a cotton bud is all you need to remove any glue residue. You can buy it in the supermarket in the aisle with bandaids etc.

I've created a five layer star, starting with the largest die from the Stitched Stars set cut in Copper Foil. I cut another stitched star in Pretty Peacock the same size as the star from the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements and adhered them together and then onto the large Copper Foil star. Next up was a smaller stitched star in Pretty Peacock and I adhered the small decorative star from the Stitched Stars in Copper Foil. I popped up the last set of stars and finished with one of the copper Designer Elements in the centre.

For the inside, I have a Copper Foil Mat for the Very Vanilla writing panel, with a strip of the designer paper at the bottom. At the top I have added a copper foil leaf spray and bauble from the Copper Foil Elements pack. I punched a 1" circle in Pretty Peacock and adhered the foil bauble to it.

SIobhan

Fabulous, Judy! SO much copper bling which goes so well with the Pretty Peacock. The inside is beautiful as well.

Shannon Kissane

Wow! So shiny and gorgeous. I love this level of bling - imagine receiving this in your letterbox 😍. Great tip about using eucalyptus oil to remove stray glue - thanks.

Rachel Palmieri

Beautiful card again Judy. I like the pretty Peacock version a little more than navy I think. Glad to hear that eucalyptus oil removes adhesive from foil, it has been a bit of a problem for me.
