CASE-ing the Catty - Giving a Layout a Holiday Twist

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty!

If you've come from looking at the lovely project on Tina's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week, we're CASE-ing a layout  from the Annual Catalogue and giving it a holiday twist, using supplies from the Holiday Catalogue.

CTC248_Banner

I'm taking the opportunity to ink up another new stamp set today, called Beauty & Joy. It is a Photopolymer set of 13 stamps and includes images suitable for occasions other than Christmas, too. Love having a stamp set that gives you more mileage!

CTC248_SU_Sample

With so many layouts in the Annual Catalogue to choose from, I settled on the card above from page 63 of the Annual Catalogue as my inspiration.

Stampin' Up! Beauty & Joy - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I've inked up the lovely holly topiary image from the Beauty & Joy stamp set for my card today. I started with a Very Vanilla card base and at the bottom is a panel stamped with the greeting from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set in  Gray Granite ink. I used the hinge stamping method with the Stamparatus to get the words lined up. Above the stamped panel, I've adhered the gorgeous Pretty Peacock and copper designer paper from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Paper pack. I've topped the join with a strip of Copper Foil that I embossed with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder to add some texture.

Stampin' Up! Beauty & Joy - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I've used Pretty Peacock ink for the tree and Soft Suede for the stem. Being Photopolymer, lining up the stem image is super easy. The image was cropped with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The pot was stamped separately in Gray Granite ink and fussy cut and popped up on some ground I created with a Light Crumb Cake Blends marker. The greeting is also from the Beauty & Joy stamp set in Pretty Peacock ink and again cropped with the Stitched Rectangle Dies. The art panel and greeting are matted onto Copper Foil. To finish I added a Star Designer Element at the top of the tree. It looked a bit pink against the Copper Foil, so  I went over it with the Bronze Stampin' Blends marker to make it more coppery. I've coloured some silver Metallic Pearls with the Dark Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends marker as I wanted a muted red to suit the Pretty Peacock tree.

Stampin' Up! Beauty & Joy - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For the inside I have a Copper Foil mat for my writing panel and a strip of the designer paper at the base. In the top corner I've stamped and coloured the holly image from Christmas Gleaming stamp set in Pretty Peacock and Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Blends markers.

Heart of Christmas - Week 6

HoC_Header_2019_Blog
Hi there

Welcome to Week 6 of Heart of Christmas with the  Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team.  Did you realise it is 3 months today until Christmas!

Tonight I'm hosting the lovely ladies who are sharing their Christmas projects this week. The links are at the bottom of the post, so make sure you check them out and leave them some blog love.

This week I've had some fun putting together this card using products from the Night Before Christmas Suite. I've had this card in my head for a while, so it is great to see it come to life.

Stampin' Up! Night Before Christmas Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I've chosen a design from the Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper that is perfect for my scene. I've trimmed it down and added it to a square card base in Cherry Cobbler. The finished card fits into a 14cm square envelope. Santa is standing on a black roof, preparing to go down the chimney. I found the piece of embossed black card stock in my scrap packet, so that was helpful. The greeting is from the Jolly Season Dies and I have cut one in Real Red and the other in Sparkle Glimmer and created a shadow to make it stand out a bit more from the background.

Stampin' Up! Night Before Christmas Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I love the traditional Santa image from the Holly JollyChristmas stamp set and I've coloured him with Stampin' Blends and paper pieced the sack and cropped him with the coordinating die from the Jolly Season Dies. The trim on his suit is very sparkly with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter that I added with a glue pen. The chimney is a piece of Terracotta Tile card stock embossed with the Brick & Mortar Embossing Folder. I did a bit of tuck-pointing with a Chalk Marker and then sponged the edges and over the top with Cajun Craze ink.

Stampin' Up! Night Before Christmas Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For the inside, I have a Night of Navy mat for my writing panel. The little elf from the #elfie stamp set seemed appropriate for my scene and I added the greeting from the same stamp set, in Real Red ink in the centre.

CASE-ing the Catty - Punch Project

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty!

If you've come from looking at the lovely project on Peta's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

This week, we're CASE-ing a a punch project from the Holiday Catalogue.

CTC247_Banner
There are a number of new punches in the Holiday Catalogue, so I've taken the opportunity to unwrap my Pine Tree Punch. It is one of the coordinating products in the Wrapped in Plaid Suite and I've used a few of them in my project.

CTC247_SU_Sample

I've taken my inspiration from the project above, which is an embellished Gold Mini Pizza Box from page 12 of the Holiday Catalogue. I have created a card instead, using the embellishment as the focus and keeping it very clean.

Stampin' Up! Wrapped in Plaid Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I started with a standard card base in Shaded Spruce and added some of the lovely plaid designer paper at the top and bottom from the Wrapped in Plaid 6" x 6" Specialty Designer Series Paper. One side of each sheet is a plaid deisgn with gold foil accents, with a variety of small prints on the reverse. This was another really difficult card to photograph and the colours are much nicer in real life.

Stampin' Up! Wrapped in Plaid Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For the centre panel I have taken a piece of Very Vanilla card stock and dry embossed it with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and added a narrow band of Gold Foil on each side. The coordinating colour in this designer paper is Cherry Cobbler, but I've used a Real Red stitched circle to add some brightness and matted it on a Shaded Spruce scalloped circle.  I've punched out one pine tree in Gold Foil and dry embossed it with the new Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder. For the other, I have stamped the tree from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set in Versamark and heat embossed it in gold on Shaded Spruce card stock and then punched it out with the Pine Tree Punch. I cut this tree horizontally about 2/3 of the way down and moved the pieces apart to lengthen it, which makes more of it visible under the greeting.

The greeting from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set was stamped in Real Red ink and I've used the Stitched Rectangle Dies to cut it to the size I wanted. It was a little fiddly cutting twice for the length and twice for the width, but was pleased when it turned it out first time. I coloured some white Baker's Twine with the Light Shaded Spruce Stampin' Blend marker and tied it around the end of the greeting in a bow and added a gold bell from the Jingle Bells embellishments. I added a trio of stars from the Snowflake Sequins to finish.

Stampin' Up! Wrapped in Plaid Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For the inside I have a Real Red mat for my writing panel and I have stamped the greeting from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set in the centre. At the base I've added a strip of the designer paper and a narrow band of Gold Foil. A gold embossed tree in the corner finishes it off.

Heart of Christmas - Week 5

HoC_Header_2019_Blog
Hi there

Welcome to Week 5 of Heart of Christmas with the  Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team.

This week I'm using the fabulous So Many Stars Bundle, inspired by a card made by my team member Wendy Ross. I love monochrome cards and blue and silver is one of my favourite colour combos for Christmas. This is such a fabulous bundle and not just for Christmas.

Stampin' Up! So Many Stars Bundle - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

This time I have chosen Blueberry Bushel, which has a nice bright vibe and a square card base (again!). The centre panel has been layered onto a mat of Sparkle Glimmer paper and adhered to the card.

Stampin' Up! So Many Stars Bundle - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I have die cut the star swirl from the Stitched Stars Dies in Silver Glimmer, cut it in half and positioned it diagonally under the popped up Silver Foil star. The next layer is the silver embossed star and finally the die cut Blueberry Bushel star, also popped up and topped with a medium Clear Faceted Gem. I've added some of the stars that came out of the swirl die cut on either side. The greeting from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set was stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink and cropped with the smallest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies.

For the inside, I have a Silver Foil mat to my writing panel. I heat embossed some stars in silver at the top and added a narrow strip of Silver Glimmer at the base. The final touch is a die cut Blueberry Bushel star with a smaller Silver Glimmer star in the centre.

I really liked how this card turned out, so I made another in Gorgeous Grape and silver. Which one do you prefer?

CASE-ing the Catty - Feels Like Frost DSP Colours

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Catty!

This week, we're CASE-ing the colours from the Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper on page 40 of the Holiday Catalogue and taking inspiration from the layouts on the same page.

CTC246_Feels_Like_Frost_Colours
This paper incorporates a lot of colours, so plenty of options to choose from in this pack. The other fabulous aspect to this paper is that the reverse side of every sheet has a silver foil and white design that will coordinate with a lot of projects.

CTC246_SU_Sample

I've taken my inspiration from the card above, using one of my favourite designs from the Feels Like Frost Designer Series Paper.  I love the soft purple shades with just a touch of green and the soft blurred background. Instead of a Christmas Card, I've made a simple everyday card with a flexible greeting that could work as a birthday, get well, sympathy or friendship card. It's great to have some of these types of cards in your stash and this paper is perfect for them.

Stampin' Up! Feels Like Frost DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs
I wanted to maximise the beautiful designer paper, so I've gone for a large square card base (size is 13.5cm or 5 1/4") in Highland Heather and I added a white mat to the designer paper to give it a bit of pop. Can't get simpler than that.

Stampin' Up! Feels Like Frost DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs
For the embellishment, I started with a large oval of Vellum card stock, just to soften the background and give it more focus. I added a zig-zag of the lovely Old Olive/Pretty Peacock Reversible Ribbon to pick up the green in the paper and add a pop of colour. The greeting from Good Morning Magnolia was stamped in Gorgeous Grape and cropped with the Stitched Nested Label Dies. I shortened it by cutting 3/4 of the image first then moving the die to the length I wanted. This is a great technique to master as you get more mileage out of all of your basic shape and label dies.

The flowers in the paper reminded me of the foliage in the Frosted Bouquet Dies, so I cut some in Silver Foil and Vellum card stock and positioned them under the corners of the greeting label, which I popped up over the top. I finished with a little popped up Silver Glimmer heart and a sprinkle of Frosted Epoxy Droplets.

Stampin' Up! Feels Like Frost DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs
For the inside I have a Silver Foil mat for my writing panel and I have stamped the floral spray from the First Frost stamp set on the right. It also looks a bit similiar to the flowers on the designer paper and I used Stampin' Write markers direct to the rubber with Gorgeous Grape and Granny Apple Green. I added a narrow strip of Silver Glimmer at the base to ground the floral spray.

Heart of Christmas - Week 4

HoC_Header_2019_Blog
Hi there

Welcome to Week 4 of Heart of Christmas with the  Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team. I can't believe we are into week 4 already!

This week I'm focussing on the new Mercury Glass Designer Acetate that is on page 33 of the Holiday Catalogue (bottom right corner).  It has 2 sheets each of 2 designs; one is more of a crackle paint design, which I'm using on my card and the other is more of a traditional bubbly look of mercury glass. Both are are a lovely shiny silver, so have a big wow factor on your project.

Stampin' Up! Mercury Glass Acetate & Itty Bitty Christmas - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
First up, I need to say that it is really difficult to do justice to this product as it is extremely difficult to photograph, with the reflection off the acetate. Without the light, you don't really appreciate the lovely shiny silver colour, but then it is difficult to see as well.

I wanted to keep my layout clean, to let the Mercury Glass Designer Acetate be the hero. My base card is Pretty Peacock Peacock and then I added a layer of Whisper White to sit the acetate on. I think white really shows up the design, but it does also look quite dramatic directly over rich colours too. I just added a couple of strips of double-sided tape to the centre of the acetate where it would not be seen behind the label. Another thing to know, is that there is a film over one side of the acetate which is quite difficult to see, but may become apparent when you cut it. If it doesn't start lifting after being cut, it is probably easier to leave it, rather than scratch the acetate trying to find it.

Stampin' Up! Mercury Glass Acetate & Itty Bitty Christmas - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I've used the large label from the Stitched Labels Dies to provide a background for my greeting from the new Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set. This is a fabulous set of 18 stamps in various sizes and fonts that should have your Christmas greetings covered. I've stamped it in Pretty Peacock and cropped it with a stitched oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies before popping up on the Silver Glimmer and then popping up onto the label. There is lots of dimension and plenty of bling to this card! The label sits over a band of Pretty Peacock trimmed in more Silver Glimmer. I finished with a white Baker's Twine bow and bling around the label.

Stampin' Up! Mercury Glass Acetate & Itty Bitty Christmas - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For the inside, I have kept it very simple with a Silver Foil mat to my while writing panel. I added a narrow strip of Silver Glimmer at the base to ground the smaller of the ornaments from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set. I've heat embossed it in white on Perfect Peacock card stock.

CASE-ing the Catty - Let it Snow Suite

This week, we're taking our inspiration from the Let it Snow Suite on pages 18-23 of the Holiday Catalogue.

CTC425_SU_Sample

I've taken my inspiration from the card above, using the cute Yummy Christmas stamp set. I love colouring, so this set jumped out at me straight way, plus, the image is just so darn cute!

Stampin' Up! Yummy Christmas - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I started by stamping and colouring the gingerbread house with my Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers. The first thing I had to decide was which red and green shades to use. I had in mind to use the Wrapped in Plaid Specialty Designer Paper, so I chose Shaded Spruce for the green. It is a nice vibrant green for Christmas and pairs well with Real Red. I wanted to create a little scene, so I did a watercolour wash on Shimmery White card stock for the background to help ground the images. I started with Crumb Cake at the bottom, Shaded Spruce in the middle and Balmy Blue at the top. Once this was dry I used the retired Pattern Party Decorative Masks and the Shimmery White Embossing Paste to add some clouds, which are lovely and sparkly, although not really showing well in the photo.

Stampin' Up! Yummy Christmas - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

The art panel is very dimensional with the gingerbread house and lots of other elements popped up at different heights. I added another fussy cut bow on the wreath and popped up another gingerbread man on the house, as he was getting a bit lost. I kept adding elements until I was happy with the scene and it kind of turned into a labour of love!  For the greeting I stamped the 'wishing you a .... Christmas' in Shaded Spruce and cropped it with a stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Dies. It cleverly comes as a single stamp with the space in between so you can add the 'happy' or 'yummy' in another colour and being photopolymer it is super easy to line up. I stamped the 'yummy' on a scrap and then fussy cut it and popped it up between the words. You can see I added lots of Dazzling Diamonds Glitter with a glue pen for more sparkle.

Stampin' Up! Yummy Christmas - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For the inside I have a Real Red mat for my writing panel and I added a leftover strip of the designer paper at the base. I stamped the greeting from the #Elfie stamp set in Shaded Spruce and added some coloured and fussy cut images in the corner.

Brightly Gleaming & Dashing Deer

Hi there

I'm just popping in with a quick post today to show you another alternative for the layout I used in this weeks Heart of Christmas post. In the lead up to the holiday season, my intention is to make 2 of every card while I have everything on my craft desk and remember all the measurements!

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming DSP & Detailed Deer Dies - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I have kept the layout of the beautiful Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Paper exactly the same, but this time I've used last years favourite Detailed Deer Dies as the embellishment. I have cut the leaping deer twice, once  in Crumb Cake card stock and the other in Copper Glimmer paper from last years retired Joyous Noel Glimmer Paper. I adhered the 2 die cuts together to make it more robust as I've popped him up on the stitched oval and left the antlers free.

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming DSP & Detailed Deer Dies - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I've dry embossed a piece of thick Very Vanilla card stock  with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and die cut it on an angle with the largest oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies. It provides a neutral background so all the detail of the deer can be appreciated. I added an eye with a 2mm rhinestone, coloured with an alcohol marker and a sweet bow in the retired vanilla and copper 1/8" Tea Room ribbon. The embellishment has been placed on the left this time as it suits the direction of the deer and the die cut greeting from the Jolly Season Dies is on the right. This version is simpler and quicker for creating multiples as it doesn't have the stamping, colouring and fussy cutting but still has lots of wow factor.

Heart of Christmas - Week 3

HoC_Header_2019_Blog
Hi there

Welcome to Week 3 of Heart of Christmas with the  Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team. This week I have the pleasure of hosting the other lovely ladies from the team who are sharing their Christmas inspiration.

Well, today is the day!  The fabulous Holiday Catalogue is now LIVE and all products are available for customers to order.  Waiting patiently for the BBB (big brown box) to arrive with your new goodies is always hard. I've got my fingers crossed that Australia Post will be kind to you!

Holiday_Catalogue_Image
This week I've used products from the gorgeous Brightly Gleaming Suite for my card.  The copper accented designer paper and the coordinating products make it easy to create holiday projects you will love.

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I started with a Very Vanilla card base and then added 2 coordinating designs from the Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Paper. The Pretty Peacock and Night of Navy filigree design is on the reverse of the copper accented diamond pattern. I added a narrow band of Copper Foil to separate the two designs. The greeting was cropped with a die from the Jolly Seasons Dies, also in Copper Foil.

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For my embellishment, I started with a piece of thick Very Vanilla and dry embossed it with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder before cropping it with a stitched oval from the Stitched Shapes Dies. My ornament was punched from Copper Foil that has been embossed with the fabulous new Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder. To make it more ornament-like, I used the retired 1/8" handheld punch to create the hole at the top. It is easier if you punch the hole first and then position your ornament punch accordingly.

The lovely holly image is from the Christmas Gleaming stamp set and I've coloured it with Stampin' Blends using Light Mossy Meadow for the base (as it is the green in the paper) and then used Dark Old Olive for shading and some Light Old Olive in the centre to lighten it up a bit. The berries are in Cherry Cobbler for a pop of colour.  I fussy cut it right on the line as I didn't want any of the Whisper White base to show. I finished with a bow using the retired 1/8" copper edged vanilla ribbon.

Stampin' Up! Brightly Gleaming Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
For the inside, I have kept it very simple with a narrow strip of the Pretty Peacock and Night of Nay filigree design down the sides. I stamped the filigree border in Night of Navy ink at the bottom of the Very Vanilla writing panel and then trimmed each side with a narrow band of Copper Foil. The Stamparatus made lining up the border so easy with the step-stamping feature.

IDEAS Blog Hop - 'Pressed Petals' with Thanks

IDEAS-BlogButtonHi there

I'm back with the IDEAS (International Demos Exciting Artistic Stampin') team this month to share more fabulous projects. We are a group of international demonstrators who create a Tutorial Bundle each month to give you, our customers and readers a heap of inspiration for your crafting. The theme for this month is thanks and gratitude. We have 12 fabulous tutorials in this month's bundle, each including at least one card and 3D project.

If you've come from looking at Dorothee's gorgeous gift packaging, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the IDEAS Team by clicking on the NEXT button at the bottom of the post.

Stampin' Up! Pressed Petals DSP, Very Versailles - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
As we head towards the holiday season, we start to think about the people who have helped us during the year; friends; colleagues, neighbours, teachers and those who have provided service. What better way to thank them than with a beautiful handmade card or a compendium that is both practical and beautiful. We all want to feel valued, so take the opportunity to thank someone who has made a difference in your life this year.

I have used the beautiful Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper as the focus for my projects together with the Very Versailles stamp set.  This is a lighter weight patterned paper that is perfect for layering without adding too much bulk. My tutorial has step by step instructions to make the card and compendium you see in the photo. You can see a preview of all the projects in the bundle as you move through the hop.

Would you like a copy of the instructions for these projects for your personal use, or even to use in your classes?

There are 3 ways you can get the September 2019 Tutorial Bundle.

1.  Place an order with me for $50 or more using the current month's Host Code (shown in the side bar on the right) and you will receive the tutorial bundle for FREE. I will email you the PDF file within 24 hours of your order being confirmed.

2. You can purchase the tutorial with Instant Download through my Etsy store by clicking here. You can pay with a credit card or PayPal and you DO NOT need to sign up to Etsy to make a purchase. Check out as a guest if you are not a member.

3.  Join my team and you will get this bundle of tutorials for FREE every month to use for your personal crafting or for classes. You can see all the details over on the Join My Team page.

Once you have received the tutorials, please remember not to share or distribute the printed or electronic copies of these bundles. We have worked hard to provide these exclusive projects for your use. If you know someone that would like to purchase the bundle, please direct them to me to obtain their copy. Thanks for your support.

Now it's time to hop over to Odette's Blog to see her lovely projects.
