This week I have opened the Peaceful Boughs Bundle for my card. This stamp set has traditional imagery of foliage and pine cones and 2 lovely greetings. There is a coordinating set of dies that include some additional frames  for greetings.  It was really difficult to photograph the card as the camera hones in on the foil and makes it really bright, when in real life it is much more subtle.

I've gone with a non-traditional colour combo of mostly neutral colours with gold foil accents.  The card base is Sahara Sand and I cut another panel of Sahara Sand and stamped one of the smaller foliage images in Gray Granite ink around the edges. The cluster of dots were added next, stamped in Versamark and then heat embossed in gold.  I ran the panel through the Big Shot with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder, to add texutre. I've used 2 of the largest foliage dies and cut them in Gold Foil as the background. There are a number of options for the pine cones, but I've gone with a solid background of Soft Suede and the detailed die overlay in Champagne Foil.

The greeting  was heat embossed in gold on Very Vanilla card stock and then cropped with a label die from the Beautiful Boughs Dies.  It has a little diamond shaped hole at each end, so I threaded the Gold Metallic Edge Ribbon through and then popped up the label. I added a pop of colour with the little bird from the Well Written Dies cropped in Red Glimmer paper.

For the inside, I have a Gold Foil mat for my Very Vanilla writing panel. I've partially stamped the smallest of the foliage images in the corners in Gray Granite ink and added some more gold embossed dots.

All of the new products from the Holiday Catalogue will be available in my Online Store from 4 September 2019.  If you don't have your own copy of the new Holiday Catalogue yet, then head to my 'Free Catalogues' page (tab at the top of the page) to register your details and I'll pop one in the post for  you.

CASE-ing the Catty - 3D Project from Card Layout

This week, we're CASE-ing a card layout and turning it into a 3D project. I've often turned a 3D project into a card, but rarely the other way around!

CTC243_SU_Sample

I was flicking through the Annual Catalogue and the card above on page 46 with the butterflies popped out at me. I love all of our purple shades and my Butterfly Gala stamp set hasn't seen much ink lately, so I decided to turn this layout into a gift box.

Stampin' Up! Butterfly Gala Birthday Gift Box - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I started by embossing a panel of Thick Whisper White with the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder and then used the largest of the Stitched Rectangle Dies to create the square background. I had an 'eeek' moment when I opened my Shimmery White Embossing Paste to find it had gone rock hard! If this happens to you, don't despair. Add a small amount of boiled water to the paste and work it with a fork until you get the right consistency and the lumps are gone.  I put a small amount onto a Silicone Mat and added a drop of Smoky Slate re-inker to give it a slightly grey tone and used the diamond pattern of the Pattern Party Decortive Masks to add some texture to the background.

I added the folded strip of the Tricolor Ribbon once the paste was dry and then the stitched circle in Purple Posy. The butterflies were stamped in Gorgeous Grape ink and then over stamped with Purple Posy ink for a subtle look. I used the Light Highland Heather Stampin' Blend marker and selectively coloured parts of the butterflies and then punched them out with the Butterfly Duet unch and popped them up. The 'birthday' was die cut from Silver Glimmer Paper using the Well Written Dies and the 'wishes' from the Well Said stamp set in Gorgeous Grape ink onto Highland Heather card stock.  I added lots of bling to finsh. The finished art panel was added to a layer of Gorgeus Grape card stock with a narrow border.

I created the box to fit the art panel, so it is 4.5" x 4.5" x 2.75". The bottom uses Purple Posy card stock that I have stamped with another of the butterfly images from the Butterfly Gala stamp set. The stamps were cut apart so I could stamp them separately in Purple Posy ink for a subtle background. I added a liner of Gorgeous Grape card stock to extend the height of box (as I was using A4 card stock that limited the height to 1 3/4") and the lid sits neatly at the top of the Purple Posy section. It also makes the box more robust.  I was really happy with the way it turned out, but it is really hard to photograph!

Heart of Christmas - Week 1

HoC_Header_2019_Blog
Hi there

Welcome to Week 1 of another year of Christmas inspiration from the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team. I love creating for Christmas - home decor, cards, tags, decorations; everything! I hope we will give you lots of creative inspiration to get started on your holiday craft. Dare I say that there are only 127 days to Christmas and once we get into September, they truly fly by!

The launch of the new 2019 Holiday Catalogue is less than 2 weeks away for customers. Demonstrators have been able to preorder  already and my project today will feature a number of new products. There is still time to take advantage of the Extra, Extra, Extra joining promotion and receive an additional $45 of product AND choose products from the new Holiday Catalogue in your Starter Kit.  Contact me if you are interested in becoming a member of my team.

Now, onto the card I have to share with you. I've combined 2 of my favourite products from the Holiday Catalogue for this simple and elegant card. This would be a great design to make multiples of.

Stampin' Up! So Many Stars Bundle & Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

My card base is Night of Navy and I've added some of the navy and copper stars design from the stunning Brightly Gleaming Specialty Designer Series Paper.   This paper is really gorgeous, with one side of every double-sided sheet having copper foil accents to take your projects to the next level. I've added a narrow border of Copper Foil above the designer paper to separate it from the card base.

Stampin' Up! So Many Stars Bundle & Brightly Gleaming Specialty DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

On the cropped Very Vanilla Stitched Label I have stamped the greeting from the So Many Stars stamp set in Night of Navy ink. It is one of  8 greetings in this set of 21 Photopolymer stamps. The lovely star flourish was die cut from Copper Foil using one of the coordinating Stitched Stars Dies. This is a huge set of 23 dies that include nesting stitched stars as well as the flourish and other smaller supporting stars and embellishments. To get the best result from the flourish die, you need to use the Precision Plate so you don't get those annoying dots all over the fine swirls. To finish, I've added some pretty navy rhinestones from the Holiday Rhinestone Basic Jewels pack. There are 28 each of 5 colours (Cherry Cobbler, Coastal Cabana, Pumpkin Pie, Shaded Spruce and Night of Navy).

I have kept the inside simple, with a Very Vanilla writing panel edged with a strip of Copper Foil on each side.  The greeting from the Perfectly Plaid stamp set was stamped in Night of Navy ink and the star from the So Many Stars stamp set was stamped over the top in Seaside Spray ink.

It was a little breezy photographing outside, but I wanted to try and capture all the coppery goodness in natural light. I also finished off the back flap of the envelope with a group of stars from the So Many Stars stamp set.

This week, we're CASE-ing the colours from the Woven Threads Designer Series Paper on page 14 of the Annual Catalogue and taking inspiration from the layouts on pages 12-13.

Woven_Threads_Colour_Combo

This paper has designs incorporating all of the 2019-2021 In Colours - Rococo Rose, Seaside Spray, Pretty Peacock, Purple Posy and Terracotta Tile. I have to say that in the beginning, I wasn't a fan, but when you see it in real life, there are  some pretty designs.

CTC242_SU_Sample
I've taken my inspiration from the card above, using the gorgeous embossed rectangular frame from the Heirloom Frames Dies & 3D Embossing Folders. I turned the frame into a shaker element for my birthday card for a special friend.

Stampin' Up! Woven Threads Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Design
I chose to start with my favourite of these colours - Seaside Spray for the card base and added some of the Seaside Spray and Terracotta Tile design from the Woven Threads Designer Paper with a very narrow white border to make it pop.

Stampin' Up! Woven Threads Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Design

I heat embossed the greeting from the Rare Blessings stamp set in white on Seaside Spray card stock for the background of the shaker element. The 1/8" foam strips were placed around the edge and I added some of the pretty Woven Threads Sequin Assortment before adding the Window Sheet over the top.  I embellished the frame with the stamped daisy from the Daisy Lane stamp set and some foilage cut with the Bouquet Bunch Dies in Seaside Spray card stock and Sparkle Glimmer paper. A small Terracotta Tile butterfly on the edge of the frame is the finishing touch.

Stampin' Up! Woven Threads Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Design
For the inside I have a double mat for my writing panel and I added a strip of the designer paper at the base. I printed the greeting using my computer in matching Terracotta Tile ink so that it would fit with the die cut 'friend' I adhered underneath. If you would like to print your own greetings, you can go to my Printing Stampin' Up! Colours page that has instructions on how to do this; plus you can download my lastest Colour Chart with all the colour codes you need for your word processing program.

Beauty Abounds Especially For You

Hi there

Today I'm sharing a card that we made in class earlier this year, that somehow escaped getting to my blog. I was inspired by this card using the lovely Beauty Abounds stamp set, which is still available in the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue. I have kept the layout the same, but I wanted  my card to have more colour and pop.

Stampin' Up! Beauty Abounds - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
The Whisper White centre panel was stamped twice with the large floral spray image from the Beauty Abounds stamp set, masking off the centre area so that it didn't over stamp the first image.  The bubbles were randomly stamped over the top in Lemon Lime Twist and Balmy Blue ink and the panel was adhered to a mat of Lemon Lime Twist that had the bottom edge finished with the scalloped and stitched border from the Stitched Be Mine Dies. The greeting from the Botanical Bliss set was stamped at the base of the card front-sized Balmy Blue panel and the art panel was adhered to it.

Stampin' Up! Beauty Abounds - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

The butterfly was punched out of the (retired) Botanical Butterfly Designer paper and adhered to another butterfly punched out of Whisper White card stock to make it more robust. I coloured it with Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers. It was popped up on a stitched circle die cut with the Stitched Shapes Dies and then onto a Balmy Blue circle.  I finished with a rhinestone for the head of the butterfly and each side of the greeting.

For the inside, I have mat of Lemon Lime Twist  for the writing panel. I stamped the floral spray on the right and coloured it with Balmy Blue and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends Alcohol Markers. I finished with a couple of tiny Balmy Blue butterflies cut with the Butterfly Beauty dies.
