CASE-ing the Catty - Favourite Big Shot Project

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

This week is our second last week of CASE-ing the current catalogues, so the CTC Crew are CASE-ing their favourite Big Shot project.

This will be my last post for a while as I am going into hospital tomorrow for left total knee replacement surgery. I had the right knee done 18 months ago, so I'm hoping for the same excellent result. It will be a few weeks before I will be able to comfortably sit at my craft desk again, but I'll be back to CASE the new 2019-20 Annual Catalogue as soon as I can. It will also be fabulous to have 2 good knees again!

If you've come from looking at the lovely project on Kelly's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today!  You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

I was flicking through the Annual Catalogue and this lovely group of projects jumped out at me. I love the bright colours in the Broadway Bound Designer Series Paper and although late to the party, I finally succumbed to the Broadway Birthday Bundle a few months ago. The Broadway Birthday stamp set and coordinating Broadway Lights Dies have carried over into the new 2019-20 Annual Catalogue, but you will need to purchase the bundle before 4 June, if you want to take advantage of the 10% discount.

My inspiration for this fun fold card comes from the designer paper and the elements in the Broadway Lights Dies that have been used in the sample projects in the photo.

I saw a few concertina style folds on Pinterest, but I've created my own version which is the normal height of 14.8cm for a metric portrait card and the full length of an A4 sheet of card stock.  I just fiddled with a prototype in copy paper until I got the proportions of the folds to something I was happy with. The finished width when closed is 11.4cm, so you do need a slightly larger envelope.

The 'hooray' is stamped in Lovely Lipstick ink and I've stamped the dots over the top with Versamark ink and then heat embossed in white. The frame was die cut from Black Foil and I used it as a template to cut out the 'hooray ' and another in Black card stock and sandwiched them all together with the Lovely Lipstick 1/8" Grosgrain to make a neat and robust embellishment and closure for the card. The balloon was die cut from the Sale-a-bration Lovely Lipstick Foil and I adhered a black embossed 'stick for the balloon to each side of the 'hooray' sign to keep it rigid. I finished with 3mm rhinestones all around the frame as you can never have too much sparkle!

For the inside I have stamped 'make a' in black ink and the 'WISH' in Lovely Lipstick. I stamped the dots over the top again in Versamark and heat embossed in white.  The diamond pattern on the bottom of the writing panel was created using one of the extra dies in the Broadway Lights set and then I filled in the diamonds with a set cut from a scrap of Lovely Lipstick.

Fancy fold cards are always fun to make and add a bit of 'wow' for the recipient.

Sneak Peek - Come Sail Away

Hi there

Today I'm sharing a sneak peak of one of my favourite suites from the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue.  The Come Sail Away Suite is a fabulous set of coordinating products, and includes the:

  • Sailing Home stamp set
  • Smooth Sailing Dies
  • High Seas 3D Embossing Folder
  • Come Sail Away Designer series Paper
  • Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Baker's Twine
  • Sail Away Trinkets
  • Come Sail Away Memories & More Card Pack

You have everything in this suite to make fabulous cards for either gender. For this card, I have used a Balmy Blue card base and added a layer embossed with the retiring Seaside embossing folder. I'm looking forward to getting hold of the new High Seas 3D embossing folder, which unfortunately was not available in the Demonstrator pre-order.

I cut a 2" strip of the lovely navy striped design from the Come Sail Away Designer Paper pack and used the Banner Triple Punch to flag the end. Underneath is a narrower Real Red flagged banner to add a pop of bright colour.

Although a little difficult to see, I spritzed the right side of the Shimmery White stitched oval; I added some drops of Balmy Blue reinker into a spritzer bottle filled with rubbing alcohol. Once it was dry I stamped the greeting from Itty Bitty Birthdays on the left in navy ink and I added the stitched oval to a larger oval in Real Red. The lighthouse and anchor were stamped and die cut and popped up on the right. The Sailing Home stamp set is in the DistINKtive style so you get lots of lovely detail and shading in the images from just one impression of the stamp.  I finished with one of the cute ships wheel trinkets on the banner.

For the inside, I have a Night of Navy Mat for the writing panel with a strip of the blue striped designer paper at the bottom. The smaller of the 2 sailing boats was stamped in Early Espresso ink and I finished with the red 'rope' trim, which is one of the extra dies in the Smooth Sailing Dies set.

CASE-ing the Catty - Favourite Retiring Stamp Set

2019 CTC Banner

Hi there

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mum's who are enjoying some extra TLC today. I hope you've had a lovely day. I was able to visit my Mum in WA last week and left her my card to open today.

As we get towards the end of the Occasions Catalogue period, the CTC Crew are CASE-ing their favourite retiring stamp set.

I have lots of favourite sets from the Occasions Catalogue that are retiring, so I've chosen Climbing Roses Bundle for my card this week. It is still available to purchase, while stocks last.

CTC228_SU_Sample

My inspiration comes from the card above on page 9 of the Occasions Catalogue. I've been wanting to CASE this one for a while, so I'm glad I have the opportunity today.

Stampin' Up! Climbing Roses Bundle - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I've used all of the same elements as the sample card, but changed it up a bit. I started with a Gorgeous Grape card base and added a layer of thick Whisper White that I dry embossed with the Subtle embossing folder. This adds interest and texture without making the finished card look too busy. The large rose image from the Climbing Roses cling stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso ink to give a more subtle outline and I then coloured it with Highland Heather and Granny Apple Green Stampin' Blends alcohol markers.  The coloured image was cropped with the coordinating die from Rose Trellis Thinlits

The background to the floral image is the lattice that I have die cut  in Silver Glimmer to add some sparkle and I positioned it on the right side of the card. The greeting from the Dear Doily stamp set (also retiring) was heat embossed on the Highland Heather die cut label and popped under the floral image.  The small coloured rose was added to the corner of the greeting label and some scattered rhinestones finish it off.

For the inside I have added a strip of the Highland Heather gingham designer paper at the bottom and added a narrow strip of Silver Glimmer to border it. I've stamped and coloured part of the large floral image from the Climbing Roses stamp set in the top corner and added a small coloured rose in the opposite corner to finish.

We are a group of international demonstrators who create a Tutorial Bundle each month to give you, our customers and readers a heap of inspiration for your crafting. I have a 'ninja' project for you this month as it can configured in a number of ways. It comprises an easel card and a gift box drawer with optional insert. They are separate projects, but you can also create a combined card/gift box as shown in my photo below. I have made mine as a Get Well, with my gift box including some Aloe Vera tissues and some lovely doTERRA products that are perfect for when you're feeling under the weather. As we are coming into Winter in Australia, this is the perfect Get Well gift to make and have on hand.

However, this project would also be perfect for a birthday, thank you or friendship gift with a change of greeting.  It would make a fabulous gift for someone starting a new job, to put on their desk with some uplifting and motivating doTERRA Touch Roll On essential oil blends included, that will also fit into the drawer.
