CASE-ing the Catty - CASE a Layout
April 28, 2019
Hi there
This week the CTC Crew are CASE-ing a layout from the Occasions Catalogue.
If you've come from looking at the lovely project on Sandra's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
CASE-ing layouts is one of the best ways to get started when you're not feeling inspired to design your own creation. Since I've been back from OnStage, I've felt my mojo was still on holiday in Auckland, lol, so this has been great for me to get started creating again.
I've chosen the card above as my inspiration this week. I love the laser cut background and the layering of the embellishments.
I started with the same laser cut design from the Beautifully Detailed Laser-Cut Specialty Paper, which are sized to fit a standard imperial size card base as shown in the Stampin' Up! sample. I added mine to a piece of Pool Party card stock, leaving a wide border and then to a standard metric Bermuda Bay card base that I trimmed by 6mm in length to create an even border. I think the extra space around the laser cut panel makes it look less 'busy'.
I chose to use a piece of the beautiful Petal Pink and Pool Party blossom paper from the new Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper as my focus. It is new in the 2019-20 Annual Catalogue that will be shipping to my customers from 6 May 2019. The paper has been trimmed on each end with the Everyday Label Punch and layered on a Bermuda Bay banner for a pop of colour and added to a stitched rectangle of Vellum card stock. The Vellum helps to soften the bold laser cut design and keep the focus on the designer paper.
I didn't want to add any more colours, so I've used Silver Foil and Bermuda Bay die cuts behind the greeting, together with some Pool Party Shimmer Ribbon and Silver Mini Sequin Trim, both of which are retiring, unfortunately.
For the inside I have added a strip of the designer paper on the left and then stamped and coloured part of the large bird image from the new Free as a Bird stamp set with Stampin' Blends markers.
