Petal Pink Birthday

Hi there

I've been colouring more roses from the Tea Together stamp set, but this time using the Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers for a different look. I chose Petal Pink to coordinate with the beautiful Petal Pink Vellum from the Floral Romance Speciality Designer Paper.

I've covered the entire front of my Whisper White card base with the vellum. My preferred method is to use a sponge to lightly dab on a scant amount of Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I put a squiggle of glue onto the Silicone Mat and then pick up a little with the sponge and dab it around the edges. Lightly press the vellum onto the card base for an invisible finish.

I've used one of the new Rectangle Stitched Framelit Dies to cut the centre panel and added some extra interest with the lovely floral embossing die from the Needlepoint Elements Framelits Dies in opposite corners. This provides a background to my Petal Pink roses that were cropped with the co-ordinating die from the Tea Time Framelits, which is one of the Level 2 Sale-a-bration FREE products available for you to choose when you place and order of $180.

The greeting from the Forever Lovely stamp set was stamped in Mint Macaron ink and I've used the Soft Sea Foam and Light Mint Macaron Blends on the leaves of the roses as well. I finished with a trio of Calypso Coral enamel dots from the Happiness Blooms pack for some extra pop. You can see the detail in the lovely needlepoint embossing die in this closeup.

For the inside I have added a Grapefruit Grove mat for the writing panel and a narrow strip of the Petal Pink vellum was added at the base. In the top right corner, I've used the floral embossing die as a background to the smaller flower, also from the Tea  Together stamp set.

This week I've taken my inspiration from the card above, although you will see that my finished product does not really resemble it at all. I saw the lovely Lace Dynamic embossing folder and started with that, although I went with a white card base and a white embossed panel in a landscape orientation.

Stampin' Up! Floral Romance Suite - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
I have used Petal Pink as an accent colour in the flowers, the die cut oval and the variegated ribbon. I have to say when Petal Pink was released in the colour refresh, it honestly did not float my boat! However, the Floral Romance Suite of products has changed all that with the beautiful vellum in the coordinating Floral Romance Speciality Designer Paper that I have used for the background in my photo.

CTC213_Floral_Romance_Close
I've stamped the main floral image from the Wonderful Romance stamp set in Mememto Tuxedo Black ink and used Stampin' Blends Alcohol markers to colour. The large leaves are in Mossy Meadow and for the smaller spray of leaves with the flowers, I used Granny Apple Green to provide some contrast. The flowers are coloured with Petal Pink and a touch of Light Calypso Coral. The flowers were stamped, coloured and then fussy cut and popped up for extra dimension and a little pearl added to the centres.

For the inside, I have embossed the scallops from the Lace Dynamic TIEF on each side of the writing panel. I was going to leave it at that, but thought it looked a little insipid, as one of my crafty friends would say! I added the die cut spray from the Well Written Framelits Dies and used Grapefruit Grove to add a better of extra colour for the flowers. I'm not sure that I really like it though.

Colour Co-ordinated Packaging

Hi there

I have something a little different for you today. If you follow my blog, you will know that I love to make gift packaging. Not only do I love designer paper for my cards and 3D projects, I also love beautiful gift wrapping paper. I found a bold and bright tropical design in Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy with gold accents, to wrap gifts for special friends.

Stampin' Up! Tropical Chic Colour Coordinated Gift Box - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

I made some Face Serum with beautiful nourishing oils, so I decided to create a colour coordinated box for the oil. Wrapping bottles is notoriously difficult, so a cute box is the perfect solotuion. You can see the orginal wrapping paper and my box in this photo. Isn't that a great colour match?

The base of the box is made from Bermuda Bay card stock and while it was still flat (before adhering the base), I stamped the vertical lines from the Tropical Chic stamp set around the base in Night of Navy ink. This was super simple to achieve by setting it up in my Stamparatus stamp positioning tool. I simply folded the box (still flat) so that the left panel could be stamped and then I re-folded to position the next panel for stamping and so on.

Using the same process, I stamped the large leaf on the front and back of the box in Night of Navy ink. The flower was heat embossed into gold and then cropped with the coordinating framelit die. Once the box was constructed, I popped up the flower over the leaf on the front. I finished with some narrow gold cord wrapped around and tied in a bow at the top.

Making your own gift packaging is fun and easier than you think. Why not give it a try the next time you have a small item to gift wrap?

Keep cool (Aussie readers) and thanks for visiting today.

I'm taking my inspiration from the card above on the left, from page 17 of the Sale-a-bration brochure, using the Tea Together stamp set. The coordinating Tea Time Framelits Dies are FREE to you with a $180 order or party sales.

The sample uses no-line watering colouring, so I decided to try out this technique and I haven't water coloured for ages. I stamped the tea pot in Balmy Blue ink (stamped off first) onto water colour paper and then used the Aquapainter to add layers of colour.

Stampin' Up! Tea Together - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne
The embellishments on my card have covered up a lot of the tea pot, so this is a photo of it naked! I still like a fairly defined edge on the image, so I tried not to put too much water over it. When it was dry, I cropped the tea pot with the coordinating framelit die.

Stampin' Up! Tea Together - Judy May, Just Judy Designs, Melbourne

My 12.5cm square card base is in Very Vanilla thick card stock and I dry embossed the front with the Subtle Dynamic embossing folder for a lovely texture. The centre panel of butterfly designer paper is from the Tea Room Specialty Designer Paper pack and it has been layered on to Rich Razzleberry card stock. I adhered the retired Lacy Doily towards the left side and then popped up the die cut tea pot over the top. The Mother's Day greeting from the Tea Together stamp set was layered onto a scalloped oval in Rich Razzleberry. I used markers to colour the rose before stamping and water colouring.  I found the marker ink melted away more than the stamp pad ink, leaving very few of the internal lines on the image. However, it does result in a lovely soft result. I added some copper trimmed vanilla ribbon until the rose that was also popped up.

For the inside I have mat of Rich Razzleberry for the writing panel with a strip of Rich Razzleberry striped paper at the bottom.  I have added another of the water coloured roses to the bottom corner. The lovely sentiment also from the Tea Together stamp set was stamped in the centre in Rich Razzleberry ink.

Geared Up Birthday

Hi there

I have a masculine card to share today - a bit of a rarity around here, lol.  I've used the new Geared Up Garage Bundle from the 2019 Occasions Catalogue. It is great to have a coordinating suite of products that should appeal to a male of any age.

I've seen a few cards recently using the Faux Denim technique and I thought it would make a perfect background for this masculine card. I started with a piece of Balmy Blue card stock cut to the size I wanted to use. I think this is important, as you don't want to cut off the nice dark bits you get on the edge of your art panel. Next drag the end of the ink pad (in this case Night of Navy) vertically and then horizontally across the card stock, trying not to get any strong lines from the edge of the ink pad. It is better to go softer and build up the colour than put too much pressure and end up with a strong line that is hard to blend in.  That's it! Easy, peasy. Every piece you do will be different, but they will all look great. I'm sure this technique would also look great in other colours too.

After adding the Black/Silver Striped Metallic Ribbon at the bottom of the art panel I matted it onto Whisper White and then adhered it to the Real Red card base.

The set of connected gears from the Garage Gears Thinlits Dies was cut from Black Foil, that has been carried over from the Holiday Catalogue. To make it super easy to adhere, cut a piece of Adhesive Sheet and adhere to the back of your foil before you die cut and turn it into a sticker. Once the gears were in place, I positioned the birthday banner and added the die cut 'happy' above it.  Both of these are from the fabulous Well Said Bundle, which is a set of 51 stamps and 24 dies that allow you to mix and match the text and die cut greetings. It is an investment, but something you will have in your craft stash forever. I'm very fortunate that some lovely crafty friends gave this bundle to me as a belated birthday gift and I'll be forever thankful for their friendship and generosity.

The 'birthday' was cropped with the new Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies, which is another fabulous addition to your craft tools. To get the length I wanted, I die cut one end and two-thirds of the length and then moved the die down and then just cut the second end. This is a great technique you can use to lengthen or shorten your die cut squares and rectangles to get exactly what you need.

Finally, I stamped the car in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it with my Stampin' Blends alcohol markers in Real Red and highlights in Cherry Cobbler. There is a die for the car, but I chose to fussy cut it to get a really narrow border and then popped it up over the gears. I finished with the smallest black Faceted Dots on the greeting.

For the inside I have a black mat for the writing panel and I've added a narrow strip from another faux denim panel at the base. I stamped the oil stain twice in Basic Gray ink to create a background for the greeting that I heat embossed in white on a piece of faux denim background and cropped with the Rectangle Stitched Framelits.  I popped up the die cut trio of gears on the corner to finish.
