CASE-ing the Catty - Frosted Floral
September 30, 2018
Hi there
Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Holiday Catalogue! This week the Crew are taking inspiration from the Frosted Floral section on pages 36-41.
If you've come from Sandra's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This week, I'm taking my inspiration from the card above on page 36 of the Holiday Catalogue. I have cropped out the card so you can get a closer look. I needed to make an engagement card this week, so this was a perfect opportunity to use this layout and the lovely First Frost stamp set. This set has been on my wish list, but I was fortunate that a lovely friend let me stamp some images to make my card and now it is on my next order list! I love that the Holiday Catalogue has stamp sets that are not just for holiday projects.
My base card is Berry Burst and I added a layer of Whisper White embossed with the retired Happy Heart embossing folder. Under the vellum layer the effect is quite soft, but it adds another dimension to the card. On the vellum layer I stamped the long leaves from the First Frost stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink. As this is is a 'distINKtive' stamp set the images have a lovely multi-tonal effect with just the one impression. It does take a little time for the ink to dry on the vellum, so you need to be careful not to smudge it. Using the heat gun on the low setting can speed up the drying time. I attached the vellum by using narrow double-sided tape on the reverse side down the wide parts of the leaves, so it is not visible.
I stamped the rose images in Berry Burst ink both at full strength and stamped off once to give the softer colour and I layered them on and behind the silver embossed greeting that sits on the folded Berry Burst metallic edge ribbon. The silver foil berries were popped in just before the flowers were attached. I added a narrow strip of Silver Glimmer to the top edge of the greeting to provide a bit more contrast (and bling, lol). A trio of rhinestones at each end finishes it off.
For the inside, I have a Silver Foil mat for my writing panel and a strip of Berry Burst polka dot designer paper at the bottom. In the centre I have stamped the wreath from the Wishing You Well stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink and added the greeting from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set in Berry Burst ink. I finished it with a retired silver metallic heart.
You can see the embossed hearts under the vellum layer more clearly in this photo from the top.
