Heart of Christmas - Week 7
September 26, 2018
Hi there
Welcome to week 7 of Heart of Christmas from the Art with Heart team. I hope our projects are giving you the inspiration and motivation to start your holiday crafting. Only 13 weeks left until Santa pops down the chimney!
I've been enjoying colouring with my Stampin' Blends alcohol markers and the super cute So Santa stamp set. This is a fun set of images and greetings for lighthearted Christmas cards that are free from snow - so perfect for us in the Southern Hemisphere.
My base card is Real Red and I've added a panel of Pool Party that has been dry embossed with the Maps Etc. embossing folder. The first time I saw this embossing folder it didn't grab me, but now I love the neutral asymmetric pattern. Although you can't see it in this photo, I've sprayed it with Frost White shimmer mist for a lovely sparkle in the light. The Real Red striped designer paper adds a nice pop and forms the base for the rest of the embellishments.
The Santa image was stamped in Early Espresso; my new favourite for colouring images with my Stampin' Blends alcohol markers as I like the slightly softer outline it gives. The largest circle from the Stitched Shape Framelits was used to crop the image and I like to add a second layer of Whisper White to make it sturdier for popping up on dimensional pads.
I've coloured the image mainly in shades of Pool Party and Real Red, keeping the number of additional colours to a minimum. The 'bling' was added to his suit trim with a glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds glitter. The 'merry' is one of the wooden elements from the Festive Farmhouse Elements and I used a sponge dauber to add Frost White Shimmer Paint from the lid of the bottle after I had shaken it; turning it from grey to a lovely silver. The 'Christmas' part of the greeting was punched out with the Classic Label punch. I just popped the end in a second time to crop it to the size I wanted. Hopefully you can see more of the the shimmer and sparkle in the photo above.
Did you know that after delivering all those presents, Santa takes a well earned break at the beach? I've added a small strip of the Real Red designer paper to the bottom of the writing panel and then stamped Santa in his swimmers and the greeting. I think the images work really well together and I've used the same colours to enhance that feel. The finished writing panel was layered onto a Pool Party mat to contrast with the base card.
You can see in this photo, that I've stamped and coloured Santa in his swimmers on the front of the envelope too.

Such a fun card Judy. I loved this Santa the first moment I saw him in the catalogue, you've done a great job with the colouring and thanks for sharing your idea of using Early Espresso with the blends.

Lovely card Judy. Isn't So Santa a fun set for the blends? Thanks for playing along this week.

What a great fun card Judy, and I love how you've used that embossing folder. Would never have thought to use that on a Christmas card

Oh Judy your card puts a big smile on my face. Your colouring is as beautiful as your colour combinations.
