CASE-ing the Catty - Santa's Workshop
September 16, 2018
Hi there
Welcome to another week of CASE-ing the Holiday Catalogue! This week the Crew are taking inspiration from the Santa's Workshop section on pages 18-27. This section contains lots of great products and samples in so many different styles. Don't forget, if you are in Australia and don't yet have your own copy of the Holiday Catalogue, then please get in touch as I'd love to pop a complimentary copy in the post for you.
If you've come from Rachel's blog, then welcome! If you're visiting me, I appreciate you stopping by today! You can continue your journey to see the other inspiring creations from the CTC Crew by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This week, I'm taking my inspiration from the card above, on page 23 of the Holiday Catalogue. I have taken the basic layout from this card and created my own version using the So Santa stamp set. This is a fun, lighthearted stamp set that has Santa on a scooter; in the kitchen and on the beach which is great for our Summer Christmas. Here is the stamp set, in case it passed you by. I love the greeting, 'Ho! Ho! Ho!, Who needs snow?'.
I've chosen one of my favourite Christmas colour combos of Real Red and Pool Party, which is fresh and contemporary and perfect for these fun images.
For the background, I chose to dry emboss a separate panel of card stock with the Maps Etc dynamic embossing folder and then spritzed it with Frost White shimmer mist (made with Isocol rubbing alcohol and a few drops of Frost White shimmer paint) to give it a lovely shimmer, which unfortunately doesn't show up very well in photos. I thought the embossed design was appropriate as I'm sure Santa must do a lot of zigzagging to deliver to every house!
For the art panel I stamped Santa on his scooter on a piece of Whisper White and coloured him with my Stampin' Blends alcohol markers. There are some small areas in the image, so the fine tip end of the marker is the way to go. I silver embossed some stars, masking off Santa first and then added some Dazzling Diamonds glitter on his suit trim with a glue pen, for more sparkle. The finishing touch is the wooden 'merry' from the Festive Farmhouse elements. The elements are a grey colour, but I dabbed on some Frost White shimmer paint with a sponge dauber and now it is a lovely silver colour. In keeping with the sample layout, I added some of the Real Red striped designer paper to the sides of the art panel and then a mat of Real Red to make it pop from the background.
For the inside I have a Real Red mat for my writing panel with another strip of the Real Red striped designer paper at the bottom. I stamped the holly image from the Peaceful Poinsettia stamp set on each side and coloured with Stampin' Blends.
