CASE-ing the Catty - Petal Passion Suite
March 04, 2018
Hi there
This week the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from the Petal Passion Suite in the Occasions Catalogue on pages 22-27.
You may have come from visiting Rose's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This week, I'm taking my inspiration from the narrow note card in the top left of the the photo. I love the floral image from the 'Petal Palette' stamp set, plus all the great greetings make this set a keeper.
The new Narrow Note Cards & Envelopes are on page 19 of the Occasions Catalogue. You get 20 cards and envelopes for $14, so they will go a long way. They are too small to post, but are perfect to include with a gift. I got a bit carried away and decided to make a set of them! The Stampin' Blends are perfect for colouring the floral image and if you stamp and die cut them all first, it doesn't take long to colour them.
You can see I changed my cards to a landscape orientation, to make them easier to write in. I also wanted to add a colour coordinated border on my cards, without adding an extra layer, so I used a sponge dauber to quickly add some colour to the edges before adhering the black and white designer paper. I also sponged the end of each envelope in the coordinating ink and added the dots and the small flower image in Smoky Slate ink.
I have replaced the white circle on the sample with a Vellum oval for my floral die cut to sit on, as it seemed a bit too harsh. The thank you greeting was stamped in the coordinating ink colour and tucked it under the die cut. You can see in the closeup above, that I have added clear Wink of Stella to the flowers for some subtle sparkle and a trio of rhinestones for the finishing touch. I have deliberately kept the cards as flat as possible, for the reason you will see below. I couldn't resist doing a Pool Party version as it is one of my favourite colours.
With my set of cards completed, I broke open the 'Lots to Love Box' Framelits Dies to make the perfect sized box for my set of narrow note cards. I have used the same layout to embellish the front of the box, but instead of the black designer paper, I have used the dots stamp from 'Petal Palette' to create my own designer paper. I added a slightly larger stitched oval in Gold Foil under the vellum to take it up a notch and the oval has been popped up over the gold Love Mini Tinsel Trim for a final bit of bling. I love the greeting 'From the Heart' as it fits so well for a handmade gift.
The box comfortably fits the 6 narrow note cards and envelopes I made.

I love your idea about adding color around the edges of the card to avoid a mat layer! Beautiful set of cards, Judy. TFS.
