CASE-ing the Catty - Sale-a-bration
January 14, 2018
Hi there
This week the CTC Crew are taking inspiration from the Sale-a-bration Catalogue for the first time. Not got your own copy of the Occasions and Sale-a-bration catalogues yet? If you are located in Australia, just leave your details here and I would be happy to pop a set in the post for you.
There are just so many great products available to earn for FREE during the Sale-a-bration promotion that runs until 31 March 2018. When you spend $90 or more (before shipping) you get to choose one of 11 great options. If you spend $180 or more (before shipping) there are 2 additional fabulous options to choose from, including the 'Celebrate You' Thinlits Dies. I'm really looking forward to getting those. I can honestly say there isn't a product that I don't love this year and there are some great samples to help you get started with your freebies.
You may have come from visiting Sandra's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This week, I couldn't go past the super cute 'Party Pandas' stamp set and I've used the card on the right, in the photo above, as my inspiration. I'm sure this is going to be the most popular pick from the Sale-a-bration catalogue this year. It is just so flexible for practically any celebratory occasion and they are just so darn cute!
I've stayed close to the layout this week, but changed things up by using several of the coordinating designs from the 'Painted with Love' Speciality Designer Paper. My card base is Whisper White and I've added a layer of Gold Foil over the top. I've chosen the 'painterly' design as the background for my art piece and layered it onto a card stock base, as I've popped up the entire panel onto the Gold Foil, I wanted it to be firm. My first banner is in Melon Mambo, dry embossed with the new 'Simple Stripes' embossing folder and the second uses the pretty hearts design which is the reverse side of the main piece.
I wrapped the white Baker's Twine around the art piece before adding the Powder Pink stitched circle that my sweet little panda sits on. If you want a rich black for your panda, then you can't go past the Basic Black Archival ink. If you get any lighter areas, you can touch them up with the Basic Black marker as it blends perfectly without being noticeable. I strongly recommend you give the stamped image a blast with the heat gun before you start fussy cutting, as the Archival ink takes a while to dry and it will smudge. I masked off the little heart on the envelope, so I could add the Melon Mambo enamel heart instead. It is a little fiddly as it is so tiny.
Up to this point, the card could have been for a birthday, get well, just because or thinking of you occasion, but I decided to turn it into a Valentine's Day card. My white writing panel sits on a mat of Melon Mambo and I've added a small strip of the designer paper at the bottom and topped it with a narrow strip of gold foil. In the centre I have stamped the watercolour heart from the new 'Heart Happiness' stamp set in Melon Mambo. The heart image works well with the style of the designer paper and I added the Valentine greeting from the 'Bloomin' Love' stamp set over the top in the Basic Black Archival ink.
