CASE-ing the Catty - From my (want to be) age page

CTC_Blog_Banner_edited

Hi there

This week we have something a bit different and fun for you. We are CASE-ing a project from the page in the catalogue that is our age or want-to-be age!

You may have come from visiting Liz's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.

CTC158_SU_Sample

This week, I'm taking a break from Christmas cards to CASE this project on page 45 of the Holiday Catalogue. I'll leave it to your imagination as to whether it reflects my actual age or want-to-be age lol. The number really doesn't matter anyway; it is all about how you feel in your head! I love this sample from the catalogue and pink and black is one of those classic colour combos that is ageless.

Stampin' Up! Birthday Blooms & Merry Little Christmas DSP - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've changed things up by converting the treat bag sample into a birthday card and using Berry Burst with the black and white check designer paper for an extra level of brightness. I deliberately cut the check paper so the white and striped checks were on the outside edges, to give it more of a pop against the black mat. I have placed this panel towards the left side of the Berry Burst card base, allowing the embellishment to flow over as it does in the treat bag sample. You can also see that I've embossed the flap of the envelope with the 'celebrate' from the Celebrations Duo.

This pic shows the embellishment in detail. I have taken a lot of the elements from the sample, including heat embossing the greeting from 'Birthday Blooms' in gold, which was then die cut with the Lots of Labels Framelits. I added a little piece of gold metallic doily at the bottom edge of the label and popped it up over a swirl of gold mini sequin trim and a strip of Berry Burst woven ribbon that was attached to the vellum scalloped circle. I finished it off with a Bitty Bow in Berry Burst and a sprinkle of gold metallic hearts.

For the inside I have a mat of Basic Black to pop against the Berry Burst card base. At the base of the writing panel is a strip of the check DSP topped with the spotty Berry Burst washi.  I stamped the small flower from 'Birthday Blooms' in the top right corner and coloured it with Copic markers.

Finally, here is a view from the top, that shows all the lovely gold accents.

A Little Refresh & Christmas Joy

Hi there

Over the past few days I've been giving my blog design a bit of a refresh so that it is responsive to the size of mobile devices. So apologies if you tried to get to my blog and found issues with it loading the content. There was a little bug in the menu, but that was has been resolved now. I still have a few things to tidy up, but I hope that you find it easier to read my blog on your smart phone and tablet now.

Now onto the card I have to share today. This is one I have had in head for a while and I finally got the time to bring it to fruition. I wanted to use a Christmas carol as the background, so I printed this 'O Come, All Ye Faithful' music image that I found on the Internet onto Very Vanilla card stock. I wanted a softer look than either black or white and I added some Crumb Cake ink around the edges to soften it as well.

Stampin' Up! Night in Bethlehem & Boxwood Wreath - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

The card was very hard to photograph with the reflection from the gold accents, so by changing the angle, it hardly looks like gold at all now. The 'j' and 'y' were die cut in Red Glimmer paper using the Large Letters framelits and I cut a second set in Gold Foil and slightly offset them to add a bit more oomph. For the 'o' I joined two of the Boxwood Wreath embellishments together and adhered some small 'berries' punched out of the Red Glimmer.

The wreath was adhered first with glue dots and then I popped up the letters either side of it, using mini dimensionals. The Mary and Joseph image was heat embossed in gold, fussy cut and then popped up in the centre of the wreath. I finished it off with a bow in my favourite vanilla and gold satin ribbon.

I have kept the inside simple, with a mat of Garden Green card stock for my vanilla writing panel. I added some of the Year of Cheer Specialty washi at the base and heat embossed the shepherd image in gold on the right. The greeting in the centre from the 'Merry Mistletoe' stamp set is stamped in Real Red.
