CASE-ing the Catty - Gift Packaging
November 19, 2017
Hi there
I'm back CASE-ing the Catty this week and we are taking inspiration from gift packaging projects from both the Holiday and Annual Catalogues.
You may have come from visiting Kathryn's blog, but if you are visiting me, you can start your journey here and continue by clicking on the buttons at the bottom of the post.
This week, I'm CASE-ing the project on the front cover of the Holiday Catalogue. It is an acetate box that has been decorated with a tag. Unfortunately, it isn't the best photo, but you can check it out more closely from the Holiday Catalogue. I've decided to take the key elements and make a card instead.
I started by Googling Australian robins and found that many have bright orange breasts, so I proceeded to colour the image from the 'Cheery Chirps' stamp set with my Stampin' Blends. I did have to use a few colour matched Copics too, to get the range of colours I wanted. The image was die cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits. Next, I coloured the leaves from the partridge image from the same stamp set and fussy cut them. The leaves were positioned and adhered around the stitched circle. I cut a rectangle from the red gingham paper from the 'Quilted Christmas' stack and adhered it to some Real Red card stock to make it more robust. I trimmed the corners and punched the top before adding the banner made with the Every Day Label punch. The robin was then popped up on the tag.
The finished tag was popped up on the Bermuda Bay background that was embossed with the Quilt Top embossing folder. I decided to add the greeting from 'Merry Patterns' at the base of the tag. The doubled Baker's twine was wrapped around and threaded through the hole in the tag. The panel was then layered on the Real Red mat and then onto the Whisper White card base. There is a lot of detail in the tag, so I decided to omit the doily and gold frame behind the tag, that is in the Stampin' Up! sample. It didn't work with the portrait style layout I had chosen.
I have kept the inside very simple with a Bermuda Bay Mat for the writing panel and a narrow strip of the red gingham paper at the base. I have stamped the greeting and swap from the 'Merry Mistletoe' Stamp set in the set in coordinating colours.
Finally, here is a view from the top.
