The Heart of Christmas - Week 17

HoC_Header

Hi there

Welcome to week 17 of Christmas inspiration from the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team. I'm glad to be sharing a clean and simple creation with you this week - I've had my first play in the craft room since my knee operation.  There is nothing like new toys arriving to get the creative juices going and I'm using the new 'Merry Patterns' stamp set that is available FREE as a host promotion during September and October. You can see my Current Promotions tab at the top of the page for all the details on how to get this fabulous stamp set for yourself.

Stampin' Up! Merry Patterns for The Heart of Christmas - Judy May, Just Judy Designs

I've chosen traditional Christmas colours for my card, with Garden Green for the base and a mat of Silver Foil on top. The white section at the top has been cropped with the scallop border die from the Seasonal Layers Thinlits and I cut a separate one in Garden Green to layer underneath to create a nice contrast with the Real Red holly design paper from the 'Quilted Christmas'  6" x 6" paper stack.

I love the 2-step 'tis the season greeting from the 'Merry Patterns' set. I've used Real Red for the base, which includes the words at the top with the flourish and the outline of 'season'. The fill-in design has been stamped over the top in Garden Green. The close-up photo above shows the 2 colours more clearly.  To keep the holly theme going, I've added one of the sweet Stitched Felt Embellishments to the right.  A strip of Silver Glimmer creates a border, with the lovely 1/8" Real Red Solid Ribbon providing a finishing touch. This ribbon reminds me of Seam Binding and is very easy to work with.

For the inside, I have used the 2-step candles stamp at the base of the writing panel. I stamped the outline first in black and then masked it to stamp the greenery, before adding the patterns to the candles. There is also a stamp for the flames, but I chose to add a touch of colour with markers.

Judy your card is totally stunning.

I shouldn't be surprised that you lined the outline and the fill stamp up perfectly, it looks amazing. I love the tiny red outline around the green too
