The Heart of Christmas - Week 11
August 09, 2017
Hi there
Welcome to week 11 of Christmas inspiration from the Art with Heart Stampin' Up! team. This week, I have an elegant monochrome card with a deluxe feel in vanilla and gold. My fling with this colour combo has been enabled by the gorgeous metallic edge ribbon and the Bundle of Love vanilla and gold foil specialty designer paper.
I have used the cluster of trees from the 'Lovely as a Tree' stamp set heat embossed in gold, as a back drop to the sparkly gold sleigh from Santa's Sleigh Thinlits. The top section has been dry embossed with my favourite 'Softly Falling' embossing folder and trimmed at the bottom with a strip of the gorgeous foil design from the Bundle of Love paper pack.
I always like to cover the white core on die cut pieces. I know I'm a bit anal, but it really does add to the finish, when it looks solid gold. I've tried a few gold markers (including a Sharpie and a retired SU gold marker), but they don't really give a good result. My new go-to for colouring the edges of gold foil and gold glimmer die cuts is a Crushed Curry Stampin' Write marker. It goes on easily and it really looks fabulous - give it a try for yourself. You can see in the close-up above, that I've added a touch of snow to the ground and some of the tree branches with a glue pen and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter. Isn't that metallic edge ribbon gorgeous? It is lovely and soft to work with too.
For the inside I have continued the luxe feel with a mat of gold foil under the writing panel. At the base I have used 2 washi designs from the 'Year of Cheer Specialty Washi' set coming in the new Holiday Catalogue. Doesn't the wider design match the Bundle of Love designer paper really well? The greeting comes from the lovely 'Hearts Come Home' stamp set, also new in the Holiday Catalogue.
Finally, here is a view from the top.
All of the products used in this card (except the new Holiday Catalogue items) are now available in my Online Store.

Judy, another beautiful card yet again. It is really stunning. Thank you for the tip on using the marker to run around the edge of the die cut of the foil - great idea! :)
